Yes they do. Only Cambodian/Khmer people get free entry ALSO foreigners/ex-pats who have lived permanently in the country for at least 2 YEARS. As a UK ex-pat I get a free annual pass (renewable) to visit the Angkor Archaeological Park whenever I so desire, courtesy of the Royal Cambodian Government. Entrance fees can be found on this website: https://www.siemreap.net/guides/angkor/hours-admission/ I live in Siem Reap and arrived 3 years ago, having lived in retirement in Thailand for 20 years. Siem Reap has improved with many infrastructure modernisation projects. Roads have been widened, traffic lights, people crossings, dedicated cycle ways (especially towards Angkor Wat itself), parks, riverside promenades and gardens improved. Currently Siem Reap is extremely busy with many tourists as I witnessed this afternoon whilst shopping. The popular street food stalls were being set up alongside the river prior to the roads becoming "traffic free" as with Pub Street with many new bars and restaurants. Fortunately the days of ghetto blasting music are long gone as have the mobile kerbside cocktail bars. On one of my "free" trips, I visited the renovated Neak Pean Temple on an island linked by a new causeway (2 photos). The first picture shows the extent of the UNESCO Angkor Archaeological Park with Angkor Wat to the south. The one full day small circuit can be very exhausting in hot and humid weather. Wear strong shoes, a hat/cap and have plenty of drinking water.

Bangkok Airways to revive flights to Mae Hong Son, northern Thailand
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thanks, brought back memories of Kan Air flights I made between Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai several years ago. A hot meal (spag bol) was included on the ATR plane. I remember very comforable seats and fantastic views from the plane as it flew at a much lower altitude than the jets. Thai Air Asia now fly the route. Bangkok Airways to revive flights to Mae Hong Son, northern Thailand
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What would be ideal is to re-introduce regular flights between Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son - just 35 minutes over the mountains by turbo-prop! So, to fly from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son, one will have to fly south to BKK then back north to MHS? Alternatively one could drive or take the train from CM to Lampang then board a flight to MHS? For those not familiar with this mountainous region in Lanna, by road would take: Northern Loop route 1095 from CM to MHS (via Pai) - 235 kms (5 hours) Southern Loop route 108 from CM to MHS (via Mae Sariang) - 380 kms (8 hours) -

Key things to watch after historic Thai election
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Just a thought;- How about civil unrest throughout Thailand and not just Bangkok? If there were properly organised covert guerilla actions at military bases throughout Thailand to disrupt their infrastructure, then the military would not have "soldier power" to concentrate on Bangkok. Moderators please remove if considered inflammatory. Thanks. -

Senate panel to study Move Forward party’s PM candidate
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Now the muck raking begins, probably back to his childhood days, to find any incriminating evidence! Sadly I hope not, and I wonder how many of those military Senators have dubious backgrounds. Set up a committee to investigate them!! Any at fault, eject them from the Senate. -
Thai man drinks crocodile blood twice a day
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
I eat a regular dose of blood, nor crocodile but pig's - as black pudding with my breakfast!! -
Maybe the new Government will hopefully eliminate the bureaucratic paperwork and financial burdens when applying for a visa - make the system hassle-free like in neighbouring Cambodia!! (no 90 day reports here)

When I retired to live in Thailand, Lanna was my first choice and I had a wooden house built in the mountains overlooking Phayao which is situated alongside a large lake (Kwan Phayao). It has a long promenade with palm trees, flower beds, many bars, restaurants and hotels. Fantastic scenery across the lake to the distant mountains. Very popular with Thai tourists and foreigners on organised coach trips who stop for lunch on their way to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle. Highway Number 1 by-passes to the east.
