  1. The marine equivalent of an electricty pole???
  2. Maybe the new Government will hopefully eliminate the bureaucratic paperwork and financial burdens when applying for a visa - make the system hassle-free like in neighbouring Cambodia!! (no 90 day reports here)
  3. When I retired to live in Thailand, Lanna was my first choice and I had a wooden house built in the mountains overlooking Phayao which is situated alongside a large lake (Kwan Phayao). It has a long promenade with palm trees, flower beds, many bars, restaurants and hotels. Fantastic scenery across the lake to the distant mountains. Very popular with Thai tourists and foreigners on organised coach trips who stop for lunch on their way to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle. Highway Number 1 by-passes to the east.
  4. To see whether you are coming or going???
  5. Yes indeed, along with the Deputy PM Suthep. Both were exonerated. Interesting to note - is Abhisit also a Britsh citizen?? From Wikipedia: Abhisit Vejjajiva is a Thai politician who was the prime minister of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. He was the leader of the Democrat Party from 2005 until he resigned following the party's weak performance in the 2019 election. Wikipedia Born: August 3, 1964 (age 58 years), Wallsend, United Kingdom Party: Democrat Party Education: University of Oxford, Eton College, Nuffield College, Ramkhamhaeng John's College University,
  6. Yes indeed, to drown their sorrows!!
  7. With respect, do not forget to pack the Imodium - just in case!
  8. Interesting comment. Along with being found just with a towel and several beer bottles at the scene, may I suggest a "gang bang" party?
  9. Of course they do, then they will vote "en masse" for Anutin as PM!! What a dreadful thought.
  10. Pack him off permanently to an "offshore" island where he can wallow in his stashed fortune!
  11. For reference (today's International media): MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat said he would seek to build a six-party coalition including Pheu Thai..............................Pita said he had called Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Pheu Thai's lead candidate to be prime minister, to congratulate her on her campaign and invite her to join the coalition. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/thai-opposition-claims-victory-voters-055821504.html
  12. Burning off the cable covering (plastic/rubber) to get at the scrap metal - copper in particular??
  13. Yes indeed and my apologies for any confusion. I was discussing the lady's "impressive salary" and comparing to my income based on my UK pensions - sorry.
  14. With my apologies for any confusion, I receive three pensions each month.
  15. Thank you for your comment but interestingly, the amount is a lot more than my UK basic state pension which was frozen at 17,200 baht per month 14 years ago! As I now live in Cambodia, keeping money in the bank to satisfy the Thai Government is no longer a necessity, here one can access your money for any amount at any time! My 2 additional index linked pensions make for a comfortable living.
  16. I suppose for many Thais, and some ex-pats, this is an impressive monthly income but with me, my 3 monthly pensions total is far greater!
  17. Winning 2 "local" village lotteries (not the Thai National Lottery) and receiving 60,000 baht (30,000 baht on each ocassion).
  18. So they will be kept locked up in a "monk-ey house"?
  19. So, will there be many kibbutz's established in Lanna and Isaan??
  20. OMG - glad I lived up North when in retirement in Thailand. My last rental was a one bedroom bungalow with veranda and carport for 3,500 baht per month!
  21. One for you and one for me etc..........................
  22. Well I'm blowed! Took me back 23 years to my time in UK Police Service. "Paddy Wagon" was slang for a police vehicle that carried prisoners. Origin USA: Over half the people arrested in New York in the 1840s and 1850s were Irish, so that police vans were dubbed "paddy wagons" (Google)
  23. Apologies, and very sorry to have spoilt your breakfast. Not crab paste on toast by any chance? Have an enjoyable day and cheers!
  24. How about being dresssed like this - colours should cover every political party?
  25. In this context - pubic lice;- Also shown in the photo are their eggs "cemented" to the hairs. Dry, clean hairs are preferred, greasy ones not so - difficulty in "cementing" egg to greasy hair.
