  1. So the bottom line is Autolife Market share figures are meaningless DLT stats state numbers of electric cars 4,780 where Autolife stated 4,954 a difference of 174 I don't have a problem if they want to add in electric cars from other vehicles groups but once they should also include the total sales for each of those vehicle groups you can't base market share based on total number of cars sold in RY1 of 34,865 if you are including electric vehicles from other vehicle categories
  2. for a number of months now members have been unable to work out how autolife reached their numbers Here is a screensot that shows for electric vehicles it is impossible to get to 4,954 even if you include all 17 DLT vehicle types and then exclude RY 12 motorcycles
  3. The problem is that these figures are incorrect according to DLT website for RY.1 the total number of vehicles registrations for October is correct at 34,865 but the number of electric registrations is 4,780 which represents 13.711% market share
  4. It has become a hot drama in the online world when the Facebook page EV Gadget Review Car posted a promotional price for an electric car from the "CHANGAN" brand, an electric car brand from China, announcing a price reduction of the popular electric car model, the DEEPAL S07, by almost 300,000 baht, from the price of 1.399 million baht to only 1.119 million baht, creating dissatisfaction among customers who had just bought the car before. Last April, Mr. Songwit Thitipunya, President of Eternity At One Co., Ltd., the distributor of Changan electric cars, announced that the price of the DEEPAL S07 would definitely not be reduced because they did not want to destroy the ecosystem by reducing the price, which might make customers who had previously bought an electric car feel bad. https://thethaiger.com/th/news/1274839/
  5. If the article had just been about poor sales I wouldn't have posted but when a company delayed salaries to their staff twice in the same year that indicates a more serious problem than just poor sales I do agree with you regarding the proprietary systems that render a vehicle unusable in the Fisker case they were handled by the Bankruptcy Court Fisker Bankruptcy Plan Approved: Warranty Repairs & OTA Updates Continue Operation of Vehicles https://www.autoconnectedcar.com/2024/10/fisker-bankruptcy-plan-approved-warranty-repairs-ota-updates-continue-operation-of-vehicle/ I must admit I find it werid that the Fisker software could not be ported over to another server
  6. Ota updates apply to both EV and Ice vehicles although the issue when OTA updates are no longer available affects EV's more than ICE vehicles OTA updates can be divided into 2 different types of update SOTA updates FOTA updates ( Firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates ) Over-the-air updates: How does each EV automaker compare? https://electrek.co/2022/06/07/over-the-air-updates-how-does-each-ev-automaker-compare/ Fisker Ocean EVs Avoid Becoming Bricks With $2.5M Software Deal A company that acquired Fisker's inventory found that it could not port over the software from Fisker's servers. It solved that with another $2.5 million payout. https://www.pcmag.com/news/fisker-ocean-evs-avoid-becoming-bricks-with-25m-software-deal Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are a key part of the automotive industry's transformation, and Chinese manufacturers are at the forefront of this change: Adoption Chinese manufacturers have adopted SDV architecture for new electric vehicles (EVs). Digital features Some limitations of SDVs include: Software complexity Software development costs Dependence on software updates Unauthorized access Data breaches Potential control of the vehicle
  7. When EV startups shut down, will their cars still work? As Chinese EV makers close, drivers of “smartphones on wheels” say software updates and maintenance are in jeopardy. Richard Qian didn’t know what to expect when he heard that WM Motor, a Shanghai-based EV maker popular for its low prices, filed for bankruptcy in October 2023. He tried to drive his compact EX5 SUV as he normally would, but discovered that he could no longer log into WM Motor’s smartphone app, which remotely controlled the car lock and air conditioner. He also couldn’t see his car’s mileage and charging status on the dashboard. In June, after U.S. carmaker Fisker went bankrupt, drivers found themselves unable to lock their EVs or turn on air conditioning, making the cars unbearable to drive in the summer. https://restofworld.org/2024/ev-company-shutdowns-china/
  8. I haven't seen any in the news maybe you should post if your aware of any
  9. China’s Hozon Auto Confirms Layoffs Amid Efforts to Arrest Sales Plunge Neta has been struggling in China’s fiercely competitive EV market, with total sales falling by 16 percent last year to 120,000 units. There was a further 12.1 percent drop in the first nine months of this year to 86,000. The company has faced reports of delayed salaries and bonuses in February and again in September this year. https://www.yicaiglobal.com/news/chinas-hozon-auto-confirms-layoffs-amid-efforts-to-arrest-sales-plunge
  10. BOI is looking at ways to ease the pain of foreign investors only "We expect the tax to affect foreign investors who expand their businesses into Thailand, so we need measures to deal with the impact," said Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary-general of the BoI. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/general/2894662/board-of-investment-eager-to-dull-minimum-tax-pain .
  11. This was posted October 30th regarding blade 2 battery On October 30, a Chinese blogger claimed that the Yangwang U7 sedan would feature the second-generation BYD blade battery. Since earlier this year, it has been known that a second-generation blade battery is imminent, but details about the forthcoming battery have been slim. https://carnewschina.com/2024/10/30/yangwang-u7-will-debut-with-blade-2-battery-claims-blogger/ I would expect Blade 2 battery to be released in China 1st before any other country
  12. Your looking at resale value in 2-3 years time if you buy in December the car will have a lower resale value than if you buy the same model in January and that is reflected in the capital value that insurance companies quote Don't assume anything regarding car safety some models in your selection have 6 airbags 1 model has only 2 airbags so driver and passenger only no airbags for rear passengers Some models have 5 star safety ratings Some have 4 star ratings and Some have 3 star ratings I would expect Veloz hybrid to be announced in either the Motor show next month or the motor show in March Also take into consideration country of manufacturer as that can impact on parts availability, part pricing and insurance costs
  13. Why buy in December if you look at online insurance sites put in the details for a Toyota yaris cross purchased December 2023 and the same car for Toyota yaris January 2024 the capital value will be more for the January 2024 model that the December 2023 model that indicates from an insurance point of view the January Yaris 2024 model has a higher value than the December 2023 model even though the purchase price of the car was the same Have you and your wife look at the safety aspects of your selected models
  14. Press release from Euroncap Bringing up the rear, and ‘Not Recommended’ by Euro NCAP, is the BYD ATTO 3 with its Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. The speed assistance system did not interpret road signs correctly and scored only modestly in Assistance Competence. However, it was in Safety Backup where the car did not reach minimum standards, specifically the overall poor performance of ACC against stationary vehicles, and the lack of action taken in case of an unresponsive driver. In this critical scenario, the system effectively switches off steering support after a prolonged period of inactivity whilst maintaining speed control – leaving an unresponsive driver to his or her fate. https://euroncap.newsmarket.com/LATEST-RELEASE/euro-ncap-releases-assisted-highway-driving-gradings-for-five-popular-car-models/s/20540c61-ed7d-4e7e-bc8b-8031eeb4261a
  15. BYD Atto 3 given worst Euro NCAP driver-assistance score ever Euro NCAP says it doesn’t recommend the BYD Atto 3’s adaptive cruise control system, given that it “effectively switches off” after periods of driver inactivity The BYD Atto 3 SUV has just received the worst Euro NCAP score ever for one of its driver-assistance functions, with safety experts advising drivers to use it at their own risk. In its latest batch of safety tests, Euro NCAP gave the BYD Atto 3’s ‘Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control’ system a ‘Not Recommended’ rating – the lowest grading it offers when it comes to testing driver-assistance systems and one that hasn’t been awarded until now. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/byd/364791/byd-assistance-systems-slammed-euro-ncap

  22. As @JBChiangRai has posted many times One Swallow does not a Summer make.
  23. I tend to take with a pinch of salt what Australians say about the automotive industry as far as I am aware the only major known brand that Australia is known for is the Holden The Holden was introduced to be Australia's car, being the first full scale produced automobile exclusive to the country. Prior to which, General Motors Holden's Ltd. assembled imported CKD kits from overseas General Motors subsidiaries such as Chevrolet, Buick, Vauxhall and more. And the only other cars built in the country being Ford and Chrysler vehicle bodies fitted to imported chassis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_(automobile)

  25. It makes a huge difference also important to show the baseline number if I sold one product in 2022 and then I said I increased sales by 1000% in 2023 that would mean I sold 10 products in 2023 selling 10 products not as impressive as saying sales increased by 1000%
