Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway drops BYD stake to less than 5% Even for Warren Buffett, BYD can be called a long-term holding. Berkshire Hathaway first bought a stake in BYD in 2008. Berkshire began selling shares in August 2022, cutting just over half its holding over the next two years. As of July 2024, Buffett owned less than 5% of BYD's Hong Kong H-shares, below the threshold where it has to disclose further sales. -

2 ICE vehicle brands out of how many on the EV side its virtually every brand with the execption of brand new brands entering the Thai market for the 1st time The huge difference between ICE vehicles in Thailand is they can and do export their vehicles to other countries where the Thai built EV don't yet meet the 40% local content to be exported via the ASEAN FTA agreement

Haven't seen big price reduction from ICEV Brands for new vehicles compared to EV brands With the EV Brands it is simply the case of oversupply more vehicles available than buyers hence we have seen Vinfast delay their entry into the Thai market and Brands they build both ICEV and EV scaled back their EV production

Personally I think the Goverment given the state of the market/economy should offer the brands if they want they can delay 50,000 of the 84,195 into 2026 or 2027 but on condition that local content will be a minimum of 80% when they start building again Most of the various facebook groups are hoping for a huge price reductions during the December or March motorshows I can't it happening myself I also expect that Byd will postpone launch of blade 2 battery until one of their competitors launches a similar battery with 1,000km range and 30% cheaper

I think most of the brands that took part in EV 3.0 subsidy are praying that the Thai Goverment will offer them a lifeline Total BEV sales to 30th September stands at 40,464 Under EV 3.0 84,195 imported vehicles in 2022 and 2023 66,448 imported in 2024 So to meet EV 3.0 brands have to locally build 84,195 based on 1 to 1 ratio those build have to compete with 66,448 imported in 2024 so total number of vehicles is 150,643 The Thai locally built vehicles can't be exported unless they meet the 40% local content rule So we have 150,643 new vehicles of which 40.464 have been sold leaving 110,179 unsold EV sector crisis as Chinese firms are trapped between lack of demand and government tax penalties Thai EV crisis: Chinese firms struggle with overproduction and government tax penalties threat amid falling global demand. With rising household debt and regulatory hurdles, manufacturers face tough choices—either ramp up production at a loss or repay hefty subsidies and waived import taxes on EV cars coming from China. Thailand’s brave new EV manufacturing world is in crisis. The sector, which has seen Chinese firms invest billions, is now suffering a market glut as demand for EV cars, both in Thailand and across the world except for China, falls. Yes MG ZS EV has 2 models Model D at B599K and Model X at B699K @KhunLA is the best person to tell you about difference with MG ZS and MG ZS EV as he has owned both Other cars to consider in similar price and KM range of say 360KM upwards would be Ora Cat at B629K in my view similar shape to volkswagen beetle Neta V2 at B429K and Neta V1 hard to find new now price reduction from B549K to B368K there is a current thread in the motoring section for Neta V Byd Dolphin standard range B569K or extended range B709K When it comes to resale you should consider which seat format is easier to sell I suspect majority of people are more interested in a 4/5 seat car than a 6/7 seat car For the rare occasions that you might need 6/7 seats an option might be simply rent a large vehicle for those occasions Also if doing the trips that you mention consider which model does have decent size boot space for your needs

Its a shame that they are unable to fit the free Rat Guard modification as I have read of owners that have taken delivery of the vehicle and were booked in 2 months later for the free Rat Guard modification and guess what the rats didn't wait 2 months
