Norway’s Oil Demand Hasn’t Crashed Despite Record EV Market Share Norwegians, like other consumers, are concerned about vehicle range, and many opt for hybrids or gasoline-fueled vehicles to travel longer distances, according to the bank. “Another possibility is that electric vehicles are used for short distances, but Norwegians still rely on fossil fuels to cover longer distances,” UBS said in the note. https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Norways-Oil-Demand-Hasnt-Crashed-Despite-Record-EV-Market-Share.html Norwegians no different to thais having access to both EV and ICE vehicles

Plenty of dealers offering MG ZS EV for B599K in the MG ZS EV facebook group pages https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367 Replacement model not available in Thailand yet expected either December Motor show or March April Motor show expect it will be more expensive that current model , new model will be based on MG4 platform and unlikely to offer modular batteries so it nore than likely to be a similar single battery such as MG4 When MG ZS EV 2nd generation was launched in March 2022 the launch price was B1,189,000 so at B599,000 once they gone thats it until new model becomes available Major difference between ZS EV and atto3 is zs ev battery casing is metal atto 3 is plastic if you leaning towards atto 3 suggest you read the https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand Plenty of reports from owners that were required to claim on their insurance as rats had eaten through the battery casing and as a result water ingress may have occured end result replacement battery required there was news that BYD were to release a upgraded blade battery blade gen 2 battery which is expected to be 30% cheaper and provide a range of 1,000 km and is safer when this battery will be released and which models it will be released for is anyone guess as no further annoucments from Byd I think you mentioned that your were planning to pay a down payment of B200K on a car that costs B599 that is a 33.5% down payment and if you currently paying B18k a month on rental you could own the car completely within 2 years if you get the dealer to offer 0% percent

On the EV front suggest you look at MG ZS EV currently on sale for B599K trips from BKK to pattaya, rayong and Koh Chang all possible without stopping to recharge @KhunLA is the MG ZS EV expert on these forums Its unlikely that there will be any further price reductions on the MG ZS EV as it due to be phased out within the next 6 months it battery config is modular made up of 6 seperate batteries

If you have access to storage and a time machine you could go back to 1985 and pickup the last of the Sinclair C5 that were being sold off by Comet for £139.99 Today, the Sinclair C5 appears to be finally finding favour. Values for project vehicles start from around £1,000, rising to around £5,000 for ‘new-old stock’ boxed examples. Optional accessories that were rare even when new, such as wing mirrors and high visibility masts, are highly sought after by collectors. https://www.footmanjames.co.uk/blog/sinclair-c5-electric-car-the-future-too-soon -

The B599K price is because they want to clear stock before the replacement MG ZS EV arrives Don' think anyone would buy at the B829K price if they are aware that MG is selling for B599K Likewise I can't see anyone paying B599K or higher for a used MG ZS EV 2022 model MG ZS EV are advertised on Facebook for B469K There are no 2022,2023 or 2024 models advertised on one2car -

Not sure why you keep quoting the B829K price when your wife was told by a MG dealer that the B599K price is valid and correct And as for insurance compaines and Capital amount there appear to be changes happening as quoted here “Now each insurance company is reducing the insurance capital of new EV cars and it is expected that the insurance capital in the future will decrease by 30% per year, not just 10% anymore because the price of EV cars is quite dynamic. Every company has to think and act again because if the insurance capital of EV cars is more expensive than the second-hand price, there will be fraud,” said the sourcehttps://www.prachachat.net/finance/news-1598803 -

If we look at MG ZS EV 2022 with no subsidy and no price reductions Price was B1,189,000 we assumed standard rate of depreciation 10% per year March 2022 price B1,189,000 March 2023 value should be B1,070,100 March 2024 value should be B963,090 March 2025 value should be B866,781 now if we take into account subsidy of B240,000 and further price reductions totalling B350,000 Current price of MG ZS EV Model D is B599,000 Combined subsidy and price reductions total is B590,000 That is a drop in value over 2 years of 49.6% or 24.8% per year Best solution for current owners is to keep their car rather than give it away due to price reductions by the Brand -

It was built sometime in 2023 it was registered in February 2024 I seen 2013 cars built in 2013 advertised on one2car as 2022 model because the owner drove around on red plates for 9 years due to the dynamic pricing of EV insurance compainies are planning to reduce the capital value of EV by 30% each year instead of the current 10% “Now each insurance company is reducing the insurance capital of new EV cars and it is expected that the insurance capital in the future will decrease by 30% per year, not just 10% anymore because the price of EV cars is quite dynamic. On the EV Brands facebook page a number of owners have had to make a claim against their inusrance policy for Rats eating through the plastic casing cover for reasons unknown one EV brand decided to install plastic covers on some but not all of the models they sell end result was full battery replacement once you have a hole its likely that you will have water ingress in the battery -

Personally I think Capital should have 2 values Capital A for repair based on purchase price including subsidy Capital B for return of capital if repair bill exceeds 80% this return of capital should be the price paid excluding subsidy If we look at your purchase price of 949K valued at 960K for 2nd year capital should have been B864K based on 10% off B960K or B854K based on 10% off B949K 3rd year (2nd renewal) Capital value should be B777K based on original B960K or B768,600 based on B949K original price If you had a major accident that resulted in a huge repair bill the capital amount should be for the total cost of the car including subsidy At the moment there are a few Neta V1 selling for B368K yet recently there was an article of a lady where her Neta V1 water entered the battery and the total repair cost was B430K The biggest problem with these price reductions is the cost of parts remain unchanged from the original launch price -

Personally I think with the current state of the economy that the Goverment should give a lifetime to Brands building EV's in Thailand to meet the requirements of EV 3.0 and EV 3.5 at the moment Brands are building in numbers to avoid huge fines reportely ranging from B500K-B700K Its pointless building huge numbers if it doesn't match potential sellers Postpone the requirments of EV 3.0 and EV 3.5 for 2 years with conditions such as when you restart local content must be a minimum of 80% from day 1 and 2nd condition end huge price reductions as it brings stability to the market for everyone from finance, insurance end customer and the manufacturers themselves as most of the vehicles purchased in Thailand are purchased on finance the one thing you will never see is the finance company contacting the end customer and saying we have noticed brand X has reduced the price of your vehicle so we have taken the proactive approach of reducing the capital amount to reflect that at the moment buyers that purchased at launch price if they are unlucky to have an accident that writes off their vehicle the capital amount on the insurance means they can walk away without having to pay a huge additional amount to the finance company Now if insurance starts reducing the capital amount by 30% each year its more likely they will end up with negative equity on the vehicle if they sell or the vehicle is written off -

The MG EP+ Was launched November 2020 with a price of B998,000 the price reduction only occurred as a result of the EV 3.0 subsidy that started March 2022 MG EP normal price: 988,000 baht with a state subsidy of 227,000 baht. Net price: 761,000 baht* MG EP PLUS normal price: 998,000 baht with a state subsidy of 227,000 baht. Net price 771,000 baht* So there was a price reduction of B227,000 unless you purchased at B998,000 Anyone buying at B998,000 and selling at B600,000 would see deprecation of 39.8% over their original purchase price -

Insurance in turmoil: EV price cuts continue, plans to "reduce capital - increase premiums" are being adjusted.. EV dump prices affect insurance capital An insider in the non-life insurance business revealed to “Prachachat Business” that as a result of the price war for electric vehicles (EVs) in China, where prices have been repeatedly reduced since the beginning of the year, and most recently, Reve Automotive, the distributor and service provider of Chinese EVs under the BYD brand in Thailand, announced a price reduction of the BYD Dolphin small electric car model by up to 160,099 baht, and NETA Thailand decided to reduce the price of the NETA V-II EV model by up to 50,000 baht to compete and stimulate sales. This situation has had a significant impact on the car insurance business as wel “Now each insurance company is reducing the insurance capital of new EV cars and it is expected that the insurance capital in the future will decrease by 30% per year, not just 10% anymore because the price of EV cars is quite dynamic. Every company has to think and act again because if the insurance capital of EV cars is more expensive than the second-hand price, there will be fraud,” said the source....: https://www.prachachat.net/finance/news-1598803 -

10% depreciation in 2 years is down to timing of sale and if there is a long waiting list for new cars of that model as explained in this post "But most of all I sold it because I read they had dramatically ramped up production and the Thai dealer told me the time on the waiting list was expected to drop significantly and that would likely impact second-hand values." as a rule new cars that have long waiting lists do command a higher resale value as some people if they at the bottom of the queue prefer not to wait -

Not True when you take into account the depreciation due to price reductions Take 2 MG ZS EV owners for example 1 person purchased MG ZS EV in 2020 4 years ago purchase price new B1,190,000 2 person purchased MG ZS EV in 2024 purchase price B599,000 Now person 1 has seen a whopping price reduction of B591,000 before you take into account the age and condition of their vehicle If both owners were to sell tomorrow person 1 is going to see huge depreciation due to price reduction compared to person 2 -

Following the huge price reduction of B340K tents are cautious about buying EV's The price cuts of up to 340,000 baht ($9,460) lower the resale value for current owners. "I was told the price would go up in two months, after the government subsidy expired. Usually, insurance covers 80% of the new car value, and it depreciates 10% per year, but the discount pushes it even lower," said Darakorn, who bought an Atto in January 2023, just a month after BYD launched in Thailand. With a bank loan and a government subsidy of 100,000 baht, the SUV had cost him 1.19 million baht. Now even the newest Atto models released early this year are priced under 1 million baht. "If you announced then that the price would drop 340,000 baht a year later, do you think anyone would have bought your cars at all?" he said. Darakorn organized other BYD owners on Facebook to explore the possibility of a class-action lawsuit. Complaints have reached the Consumer Protection Board, which was ordered by a cabinet minister to investigate the mounting discounts offered by not only BYD but also its competitors. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Electric-vehicles/EV-price-war-angers-Thai-BYD-owners-as-buyers-wait-for-more-cuts -
Personally I think on the low budget models the MG ZS EV has a number of good points Metal casing to protect battery as far as I know its only the MG ZS EV, EP+ and ES that have modular batteries 6 batteries in the pack so if 1 battery is suffering from serious battery degradation the replacement cost of a single battery is approx B72K We know the current prices for current model I suspect the replacement model pricing will be higher that the current pricing but that is a pure guess
