This will definitely bring back the Chinese tourists! So many of them are looking forward to their first experience smoking a joint, listening to the Greatful Dead!

Like many African countries, you need a yellow vaccine passport to enter, showing the required vaccination. Previously these were Yellow Fever and Influenza for most West African countries.
Possibly, I have used one of those to enter Africa showing proof of Yellow Fever and Influenza vaccines for over 25 years.
Thailand still requires Yellow fever vaccination proof for holders of many passports (mostly tropical countries with active cases of Yellow fever).

Since endemic means it's permanently in the population and can't be got rid off, how is that better than a pandemic which is global epidemic that comes to an end.
Nobody said that it's better, the diference is that when it's endemic, the measures to deal with it are more relaxed, even if some contaminated people slip through customs, it doesn't matter much as it's already endemic in the population, got it?

Some years ago I was a student in a Thai language school in Chiang Mai. According to the explanation from the teacher the word "farang" (even though some Thais pronounce "falang") originally means guava, the fruit guava is very white and light, so this become a slang to designate white skin people of European descent. Do the Thai people here agree with this?

Not to forget the former employees. - My ex-girlfriend, just to name one example, was a successful administrator in an (outbound-) tourism business with a good salary. When the pandemic hit, the company folded and she was unemployed within a a few months (just doing cancellations by then). She decided to take over the family farm and get rich from growing vegetables. She's not going back to an office job...
This is brilliant as there will always be a market for vegetables that can be exported.

You have more chances of being successful in suing Putin over the invasion of Ukraine.

Perhaps Thailand will have to begin a new "cycle"....going back 20 or more years to the days when it was mainly backpackers that dominated the "tourist" trade.
In other words, taking the past as a guide, it may be two or three decades before Thailand gets back to what it was in 2019.
What happened to the "high quality" tourists that were coming in droves??

From what I know the best thing to do if you want to travel to Thailand as a tourist is to wait until July, by then all restrictions will be gone, anyone whether vaccinated or not will be able to enter Land of Smiles and enjoy themselves. It's the so called "endemic phase".

Russian couple arrived today at the serviced apts. where I stay.
If they can get in, why can't others get out?
They must have cash, the homeless depend on credit cards that no longer work.

Who is going to be paying for their hotel rooms?
According to some calculations I have done, many of them should be homeless by now. I'm sorry that people who are used to a middle class life have to learn how to survive homelessness in Thailand. They will soon learn the tricks, such as finding out about meals distribution, the best temple that feed the homeless, it will be a humbling experience but I hope someone in mother Russia comes for their rescue at some point.

Against what? Nobody wants to invade Thailand.
What would the prize be?
The prize would be all the beer bars of Pattaya, full of hookers!

Evil, cruelty and bigotry will continue to flourish if good men (or even mediocre men) say nothing. The Thai Government's refusal to name or condemn Russia's actions does seem to hint at a lack of principle or concern for human values.
Or maybe it just reflects a lack of care about anything much beyond Thailand's border. Perhaps the government's instincts are to stay out of trouble and hope it all goes away tomorrow
Whatever, it is a little sad.
They just have the income from Russian tourists in mind. Now they can actually forget it as Russia has been kicked out of the SWIFT system, Russian credit cards no longer work and money transfers from Russia are impossible.

Ordinary Russians?
Far and few between. The few Russians I've met are rude and aggressive.
I'm sure there are a few nice ones.
It's just I haven't met any.
I have had the same experience with Russians in Thailand (mostly Pattaya and Jomtien areas), there are some nice ones, they're are usually younger and have English language skills.

There's even a movie on Netflix about this subject (paradise Island). I started to watch but couldn't finish due to the sickening violence. The gangsters are mostly Arab-French.

All foreign lady boys in Pattaya should be deported immediately!

Ruble won't be worth anything the way it is going and Russia won't be able to afford imports.
How about all the Russians living in Thailand working online and getting paid in rubles?
They are in for a rude awakening.
Are you saying that all those signs in Russian in Pattaya will disappear?

Would you serve Russians in your business?
Your question is ridiculous. Any real business person knows that the moment someone steps into the business, he's a customer and customers are Kings! It doesn't matter his/her nationality!

People still cannot pronounce the name of Bangkok's main airport Suvarnabhumi. ( me included )
The same as Nakhon Ratchasima is still called Korat by most people.
The airport name pronunciation is something close to "Su a na punn"
with the right tone, of course.

Hoi An might be nice to live in, although I personally haven't been there yet. Saigon--forget it. Extremely difficult getting around, and overcrowded.
Hoi An? It's a touristy construction, it's not a real city with real people.

Some of the published information by the Thai authorities is contradictory. Thai Smile should be 100% familiar with what is actually being enforced (it is their responsibility to verify the conditions are met at check in). Check with them.
As others have indicated, you must be able to check through your baggage to your final destination, which implies you will have your boarding pass already, when departing Phnom Penh for the Bangkok to Switzerland leg. Again, check carefully with Thai Smile that this is going to happen.
I don't want to be negative, but we need to look at the facts. Thai Smile is a low cost airline, in my experience with low cost airlines, there's no way that Thai Smile will be able to issue a boarding pass plus transfer the bags to Swiss Airways. So, better prepare to pass through immigration, collect your luggage and then check in again with Swiss. But check with Thai Smile anyway.
