I bit idealistic. You know that as soon as the people come to power they start creating a new aristocracy - as in the French and every other revolution. I have no confidence that Thailand will be any better under 'democracy'.
You pointed to something inevitable, even under Pita, that most people cannot see at this moment. Pita has all the ingredients to form a new aristocracy, his international "silver spoon" upbringing and exclusive education...

Thailand is more of a Durian republic than a banana republic...

Anything for an odd Baht. Just keep those Russkies coming and to heck with your butchery in Ukraine.
This guy is the side kick of that vile piece of, you know what. A cold heartless machine that spews out Putins commands.
Personally I can't stand the sight of him.
Really, I feel sad that Thailand is actually receiving this scumbag as a dignitary. Thailand needs to go back to a democratic government ASP!

He has my full sympathy as I have watched enough content on the terrible, I mean really terrible conditions inside a Thai prison and this fellow wasn't hurting anyone, he was just having fun!

Why did anybody ever allow them to enter Thailand?
Exactly, that is the reason that this Interpol red-flag system exists in the first place. So these people can be identified and bared from entering at an airport. But I understand, the officer didn't do a good job and didn't check the passport against the interpol list.

The current vaccines REDUCE the risk of you contracting the COVID virus, especially in the months immediately post injection.
And, longer term, also significantly reduce the risk of either getting seriously ill or dying from COVID, compared to those who have been unvaccinated.
I think that he was just teasing you, what you said is pretty much common sense nowadays!

Thailand is on a list maintained by the Chinese government - it's not a good list.
There's some very weird stuff happening over the last few months :
It's not clear if this is nationwide or just in a handful of places......
"Local police stations are carrying out strict review processes for people leaving China, particularly if they're going to Thailand, Cambodia or other Southeast Asian countries,"
Read this : https://www.rfa.org/english/news/china/travel-restrictions-02202023160935.htmlThank you for sharing this, it's really worrisome the way individual freedoms are crushed in a dictatorship such as China.

News I really don't want to hear or read about. Nothing positive, just more negativity regarding foreigners living in Thailand. The usual BS "we must protect the Thai boarders, ensure public safety and maintain national security" which essentially means Thailand is for Thais. The news I want, and never will hear, is permanent residency for retirees. I loathe Thai immigration and time-consuming, anti-foreigner regulations.
Exactly, Thailand is for Thais in those people's minds, then why would you want to remain indefinitely in such a place? We farangs can't hide, no matter what we do we are still farangs, no matter how fluent you become in Thai, you're still farang. For me the only way to enjoy Thailand is on a temporary basis.

It's still pretty easy to do agency-assisted border runs
Sure, I know that but only if you qualify, as far as I know they only allow normal tourism 6 months per year in Thailand. The rest of the time you need to be out.

I find it really amazing that he says he will deal with " The elephant in the room" (lesé majeste laws). I doubt that he will be successful but only mentioning it is already an advance for this taboo.

The dream is over, my overstaying friends. Yes, Thailand used to be easy to stay indefinitely, you just had to do a Visa run every now and then. No longer. You need to update your mental model about this country, if you really love it, is willing to put up with being forever a foreigner, then go for the legal channels, stop this stupid hack of overstaying tourist Visas. Get real!
In my decades of visits to the Kingdom I have never overstayed even one single day.

And they're wrong about that too. There are many different cannabinoids and they work together in harmony. If you isolate THC without CBD for example, things get a bit out of balance.
I have some good friends in the UK who've been very involved with this whole subject for decades. Which is the only reason I know so much about it. Every human has cannabinoid receptors in their brain. They only react to cannabis so why would they be there if we're not not meant to ingest the plant? If you believe in God, you should accept that he put all the plants here for us to eat.
One of my friends eats only the leaves and seeds of cannabis plants for months at a time because he claims it's the ideal food for our health.
Here's the link for anyone who's interested. http://freecannabis.net/cannabis-compendium/cannabis-a-dietary-essential/
And the rest of his story, in which he befriends Howard Marks http://freecannabis.net/contact-free/the-chronicles-of-cannabis/
<Every human has cannabinoid receptors in their brain. They only react to cannabis so why would they be there if we're not not meant to ingest the plant?>
Wrong, the Cannabis cannabinoids emulate the ENDOcannabinoids produced by the body. Our own body produces ENDOcannabinoids that bind with these receptors.

everyone knows higher class people don’t sit around getting stoned, with the exception of some rock stars.
Are and families planning to brings their families to smoke weed or be around those who do? Do you like being in a resort where there are guys in dreadlocks sitting around the pool getting stoned?
what are people doing in their rooms getting stoned? Utilizing the services of prostitutes? Does little Joey need to hear that or be exposed to that lower class of society?
your father knew people who utilized alcohol and it was always a manly thing to do, even if it was not healthy. He also knew people who smoked, but he did not at all associate with that segment of society who smoked grass. What losers. Did they grow up and live in their mothers basements, become heroin addicts, live on welfare and food stamps? Did you end up there? Loser! What could you have achieved had you not succumbed to grass, the deadly weed. What kind of man did you leave behind in a puff of smoke and laughter? If only you listened to the film in family values class in high school you could have grown up to be a pillar of society, a doctor, architect or lawyer. Instead you got stoned in the bushes at lunchtime and became a loser student, and now your kids need a good example. Man up and change your ways, don’t let your kids take the same path! You won’t ever be your fathers man, but you can try to fake it, like your father did.
You are a comedian, there's no doubt about that!

One thing that needs to be reminded is that the medical stablishment does recognise the power of Cannabis as medicine but only the CBD component, the THC component is responsible for the "high" effects of Cannabis in the brain and the medical stablishment does think that it's potentially dangerous in some people, this is a fact, a scientific fact, even though I personally believe that it should be legal, for responsible adults, of course, never teenager, never!

Which is really odd at this point in time by the way Now I am in a country where almost nobody (except some elderly people) wears a mask, I can see people's face and expression! I urge Thais to stop hiding behind those stupid masks!

Things will continue but the RTP won't extort money from the girls. I guess the pubs will still be guilty of human trafficking though.
Some businesses that get extorted are totally legal businesses, such as restaurants and bars. You only need a certain amount of success in Thailand to become a victim of extortion.

Cannabis isn’t as harmless as people think especially for teenagers and young adults when the human brain isn’t fully developed until 25yo. It can severely alter the psyche of these young people. Modern strains are highly potent and basically zonk people out of their mind. I myself was a regular cannabis and quit a few years ago when I noticed things in my life i didn’t like. Irritability and even outbursts when I didn’t have it and I also felt its better to face the world with a clear mind. Occasional users won’t have these issues but when it becomes a habit it can be harmful.
Exactly, as a matter of fact, using Cannabis one develops tolerance, there are some receptors in the brain that get blocked, so the person want to smoke more and more. For people who understandably want the benefits of medical cannabis they should go for CBD, without the pscyco active effects of the THC.
