I'd be worried that he might hit a checkpoint on the way to a land border and get arrested. He should buy a flight ticket out of Thailand, take the bus to swampy and pay his fine there.

I think it is very unlikely he would be checked on the way to the border but he could be, as he could be on the way to the airport.

The check points as far as I have been told by others going to the border have only ever been checked for ID purposes and not their visa status but there's a risk of course.

I would think his biggest risk is the hotel staff who from the OP apparently know he is on overstay.

I have found the exact opposite to be the case.  Other than immigration and some amphoe-personnel (when trying to get married), I can think of only 2 Thais I've encountered who made me want to cuss, in several years here.

The wife and mother in law don't count so none have ????

  3. I don't have any experience of this but as you aren't getting much of a positive response I'd suggest making sure you have the 20k as you know they are the rules and it would be unfortunate to be denied entry because of it.

I think the pattern of travel you describe wouldn't raise any eyebrows with immigration so unlikely you would be asked to show it but just take the money in case.

Can't help with the flight requirement question, sorry.

Hey, that must be the most clever and arrogant comment ever. he of course meant he haven´t seen one shop that have. Actually I have not seen one too. And that must be because they didn´t sell long time, and not many 7/11 had it. It was just in a test stage.

That's because you didn't go into a 7/11 that had one during the short testing stage.

If you had, you probably would have seen one.

What is illegal in renting out condos on weekly or even daily base? emoji50.png I never heard about it. Those things are official and there is mostly always a contract.

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Many landlords use Air BnB and similar to rent out short term and it is illegal.

For those landlords wanting to rent for days and weeks (less than a month) they should have a license to do so according to the hotel act of 2004, most obviously do not.

Sure they do! In my condo I see some very short-term rentals being done to tourists staying for a week or so. Annoying to see these types of people but they do happen throughout most condos.

Most condos do not rent out short term to tourists and I believe it is often illegal. Perhaps many in your condo block do but then you are also a tourist which is why I find it odd that you are annoyed seeing 'these types' when you yourself are 'these types'.

    TVF, what a place LOL

Lastly as I have a WP already for a non BOI it looks like I need to cancel this to get the new one under BOI.

Can a WP issued in one province be cancelled in another?

I think you need to do it locally but I am unsure so it might be easier for you to ask your issuing labour department office unless anyone else here knows.

For BOI questions you could call them or just pop into chamchuri square, their numbers 02553 8111. They have plenty of English speakers and are very service orientated unlike some departments here LOL

NO, I got told by immigration in BKK to get a non B

Well, they were wrong. Chamchuri Square staff are very helpful, perhaps ask them this time and see what they say.

Also, ask immigration again if a work permit can be issued for a normal company.

In fact, ask immigration about anything related to work and I am sure their default answer will be, you need non B

  9. It's good that some bigwig can cream some money off introducing new technology to control marijuana.

In the mean time and after said technology is introduced, everyone who chooses to can just carry on buying readily available, cheap weed as per normal. No extract, no oil just a good old fashioned bamboo bong. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Change the water regularly though ????

    (and <deleted> don't spill it!!)

  10. Yes, you can 100% get WP for BOI with your Non O.

My company wanted me to switch over to Non B and extension based on work but I refused.

If the company tells you that you have to change to Non B and extend on that instead, they are either lying to you, are not aware or the companies policy is to only apply for the WP on a NON B through them.

It is up to you to highlight that they can get your WP on your current extension and if they refuse to get the permit whilst your on your Non O whether or not you decide to work with them.

If possible try to stay on your Non O. It is simple enough to go back to a Non O and extend should you leave the employer but it is unnecessary hassle.

Shame though to kill someone by accident the guy looked genuinely upset and broken.

It is, and he would feel remorse but i am fairly certain he was not to blame.

The amount of times I have had close calls with people crossing main roads or turning into main roads with no lights on dark stretches I am honestly surprised I haven't done the same.

You can only go so slow before you just aren't getting anywhere and you would think the person would have seen the headlights coming and the sound of the car before the driver saw him in the silent darkness ahead.
