True but what about all the stuffing about to obtain a new non o and then obtain the 12 month extension. I missed where op lives, but I'm in bkk and would pay big bucks to avoid a day wasted at CW imm. 20k minus cost of new process, I would not think twice. He would only need agent this one time and next year no problem
he lives that side of BKK and is recently retired so going there doesn't bother him. he doesn't need to do the process again just the extension

That's good news. Also can pass that on to anyone I meet in similar situation. I was in the camp of just suggesting use an agent but that would be maybe 20k. However if it was me I would still choose the agent option.
he was quoted between 17 and 25k by a couple of agents plus the extension fee. He'll pay 5,500 plus the extension fee. He's just going to do as the supervisor said, his choice and lesson learnt for next year.
-
Just to update if anyone is interested. He went into CW on Monday and was told he needed to see a supervisor but they were busy and to come back tomorrow (Tuesday) which he did.
The supervisor told him to come back on the 22nd and pay the 5,500 baht overstay and they will do his extension then.

What exactly does 'methamphetamine' do for those who indulge?
I enjoy caffeine in the morning to help me wake up, although I've heard eating an apple works better and faster.
A couple of GT's after dinner is nice, maybe a couple more if my joints are playing up etc.
Like many I just don't see the 'take this tablet' and you'll have a wonderful night thing.
Somebody tell me what is so good about it. I don't want to try it, I just want someone to explain to me what is so good about it. It always seems to be 'bar raided' and xxx customers found taking drugs. Is alcohol in moderation not enough?

Sounds from the report that they were staying in the country illegally and once caught they have then claimed refugee status.
The Police had reason to believe some were involved in illegal activities in the nana area and investigations led them to the lad prao area were their counterparts were staying illegally.
So yes, the Thai Police would rightly lock them up.
What's the problem. If you are concerned about the children then don't be. Their parents put them there and the children are their responsibility, not yours.
Thailand has made it quite clear it will not tolerate penniless foreigners staying and working illegally in the country wherever they come from. Their choice

surely if you're going to break the law like that you'd be just as well on overstay than going through the 'hoops' of obtaining an illegal permission to stay.
But i suppose they never thought it would catch up with them. They never do til it does

seems a strange requirement, such letter should at least be notarized to have any meaning at all.
Upon request, the local Amphoe does issue a confirmation that the marriage is still registered what is accepted by the Immigration office in the area where I am registered.
not all people who use those visas have registered or need to register their marriages in thailand

Normally I would agree with you,, but I think that a picture like this is worth a thousand words. If no one ever publicizes this then chances are nothing will ever change.
Too bad it wasn't Bill Gates who tripped over the pipe... lol
There was a story the other day about a girl getting hit by a motorbike on the pavement.
The moto taxis near me were pushing their bikes yesterday along the pavement.
I was impressed until today when they were back to riding them down the pavements again.
Nothing will change, as nothing much has done since bill gates had a moan about the wires.
It is what it is ????

Is the above talking about 1 year extension or getting a multi entry visa for visiting wife?
his first sentence says a non o visa, that could be single or multi, same requirements.
obviously not talking about the extension as he's talking about doing it in laos

No letter required in either savannaket or vientianne but if you can get one I would take one anyway in case.
I think that requirement will likely be enforced sometime soon.
It is required in HoChiMinh which also does the visa without financials.
The letter would need to be hand written in thai.

Actually Mark, using Dragon 15 Pro, and a decent microphone it took me all of 4 minutes to write that quality content.
Probably took me less time than your mis-spelling 3 line snipe.
Ironically, because I dictate, I do not use a keyboard, so I do not fit your ill-aimed "Keyboard Warrior" sarcasm.
0/3 Mark - Sadly you are a Senior Member with not a lot to add.
I did quickly peruse your 122 posts. Not much quality added Mark - almost ALL snide remarks.
I would think senior members would encourage quality content and contributions?
Or did I just hit too close to home with my "Keyboard Warrior" and "Warrior Medical Kit" remarks. Ouch.
You missed the whole point of the contribution Mark.
OneEyedPie:- You also missed what everyone else successfully read.
Read it again - I never said that any policy contains the word "Might".
The fact that you are the only one to pipe up and say your policy is an exception, enforces exactly the message I conveyed - Read you Policy and know what you get. Whilst your policy includes motorcycles, it will have conditions and restrictions applied by the under-writers. The claim is paid by the under-writers and not your Travel Policy issuer. My point was that Travel Insurance policies and Under-writer conditions and restrictions do not always equate.
Caveat Emptor
Oh, Mark, by the way, 01:22 seconds without fingers touching the keys.
Oh, and NO spelling error or Grammatical mistakes.
Amazing how technology brings people into the 21st Century.
Try and be a bit more cheerful with your input.
Maybe a few wise anecdotes or something.

Before casting dispersions and before spruiking mightier-than-thou hyperbole, read the FINE PRINT of your own Travel Insurance Policy to discover how vulnerable YOU are to natural disasters or every-day occurrences.
God forbid you find yourself on/in a motorcycle or bicycle or wheelchair and doing everything right, and still be hit by an idiot with NO insurance.
ALL Travel Insurance Policies categorize ANY and ALL propelled activity, not conducted inside a motor vehicle wearing a seat belt, as HIGH RISK, and therefor is NOT INCLUDED on ANY Standard Policy in the world today.
Even though the policy says it MIGHT include it, the Insurance Underwriters will DENY the claim out-of-hand (out-of-hand means 'refusing without consideration or discussion')!!
Check it out!! See if your Shiny Lilly White Butt is so Shiny after all?
So, for all you "'Keyboard Royalty'" who think your butt is safely insured, DO NOT use or do any of the following:
Drink Alcohol and then Do ANY Movement, Take Non-Prescription Over-the-Counter Medications, Jog, Run, Bicycle, Motorcycle, Dirt-Bike, Go-Kart, Rollerblade, Skate, Skateboard, Jet-Ski, Ski, Banana-Boat, Speedboat, Use a Ferry without Remaining IN Your/Rental Car at ALL Times, Ride in a Taxi WITHOUT Wearing Seat-Belt, Ride in a Mini Van, Take a Public Bus, Transported in an Ambulance, Using a Wheelchair, Transported in a Police Car, Ride a Ferris Wheel, Pay Admission to an Amusement Park, Injure Property or Yourself or Another whilst pushing a Shopping Trolley, Ride an Escalator, Enter a Lift, Workout at a Gym, Do Weights, or any of the multitude of other daily or nightly activities that constitutes forward momentum. If the other party DOES NOT HAVE Insurance, then your in for a BIG SURPRISE!!
(Sex is a 'Borderline' because, technically, the amount of forward momentum is equal to the amount of reverse momentum, therefor, they cancel each other out. You would therefor argue that you or your partner fell off the bed and broke XYZ whilst you were on your WITHDRAWAL STROKE, and, NOT whilst you were on your THRUSTING STROKE). ????
Read the Product Disclosure Document from your Travel Insurance Provider, and then come back here and tell me that you understand ALL THE FINE PRINT AND TECHNICAL JARGON. If you DO I will happily call you a liar. PDD or PDS are documents intentionally peppered with double-meaning wording, designed solely to confuse you, and purposely 'lull' or 'fool' you into a false sense of security.

It would appear that many readers have either not read the article completely, or, are keyboard-warrior first-responders with expertise in mis-categorizing trauma injuries armed solely with a warrior medical kit (armchair + keyboard + mouse).
Why not comment on the facts, and do not spread false and negative comments that simply show how ill-informed you are.
IF you have FACTS to add - then please ADD THEM!!
Everyone who READS can read the same WORDS as you.
Everyone who READS can read the same LINES as you.

30k euros is not a huge amount for a family to raise together, remortgage or borrow or whatever.
If friends want to contribute then up to them but i certainly don't feel the urge to pay for someone else to upgrade from government hospital to a private one and who either didn't bother with insurance or was careless enough to make it void.
I wish him the best in his recovery though

It is likely the immigration office would suggest he overstays 11 days and applies again once the 3 month rule has been met, but IMO that’s a really bad idea.
If he doesn’t meet the seasoning requirement by the 10th it would be best to do a border run and start the process from scratch.
thanks, i'll give him the options and leave it to him to decide

what about getting an income letter from his embassy and doing a combination renewal, should be no need to season the money?
anyone know anymore about this?
-
now i am confused. i thought he could go as if applying and once they notice the requirement won't be met until the 21st then he could maybe ask them if it would be ok if he came back once the money is on for 30 days and pay the overstay.
I suppose it's down to what's the IO likely to say.
It would be much easier if allowed than doing a border run, applying for a non o and then back to extend that.
The likelehood of him being checked by immigration in that time is extremely slim
-
OK, thanks Joe and everyone. I think he has his options now.
What a pain, i bet he won't make the same mistake again next year, you live and learn as they say.
Thanks again

He would not want the 7 days unless they said no for coming back and paying for an overstay when he has met 3 months requirement. He would have to pay the 1900 baht fee to get the 7 days to leave the country and he could not do the extension after the 7 days.
His overstay fine would be for 11 day which is 5500 baht.
That is an option.
Does he have a valid re-entry permit now that could cause problems when getting the 30 day visa exempt entry?

he hasn't left the country or bought a re-entry permit the last year.

do you mean he should go to immigration and ask if it is OK to come back and pay the overstay when he meets the requirment.
go there with no documents and just ask?
is he taking any risks or would they take his paperwork until he came back almost like under consideration?
-
would he not be best to just use that visa run service from on nut for 2k and get 30 days and apply for non o then extension after the money has seasoned??

Does he mean he will short by 10 days next week or the 10th of next month?
Maybe he thinks has to apply x number of days early or have x number of days remaining on his extension. He can apply on the last day if he needed to.
renewals on 10th dec and the 3 months seasoning will be 21st december
(current extension expires 10th december sorry)

doesn't make sense. did you send them proof by way of medical files? looks to me that they are saying they normally only refund if the MOE refuse the visa associated with the course but they may be willing to sort something out if you can prove she is genuinely too ill to train rather than you just had a change of plan.
