  1. I'm not surprised. Acquaintance of mine converted 30k euro worth of crypto into euros through transfer to his EU bank account. He'd given warning to the bank through his usual contact at the bank where he was well known and had been banking for 30 years. All the same, his account was rescinded overnight, no explanation given. They (banks, governments) don't want us to do crypto. Soon the only way will be to own private wallets, buy crypto from one another, never convert to fiat, pay only trustworthy merchands (eg porn website, escort girls, drug dealers) with crypto. If you have crypto on a crypto exchange, it's high time to transfer the lot to a private wallet IMO. The OP doesn't say from which crypto exchange he bought. From what I understand some exchanges are considered more legit than others. On the other hand, this might be a Thailand thing.
  2. I've had more vaccines than you've had hot dinners. I should be long dead by now.
  3. No, I wouldn't have said the same of course. Male sexual consent is worth nothing. Male prostitution is seldom an issue, even in the US. Pussy is what everyone gets hot under the collar about. I don't understand what "young enough to be my Great Granddaughters" has to to with the topic. I'm sure zillions of women are young enough to be my Great Grandaughters. It's not their fault, they'll get over it.
  4. What I'd like to know is the following: is the high protection (80%) against hospitalisation also valid for seronegative individuals, or does this figure conflate seronegatives with seropositives? If the vaccine does nothing to protect seronegatives from severe illness, or puts them at slightly more risks than non-vaccinated, better wait till you've had dengue once before getting vaccinated.
  5. Sonetel might be worth looking at:
  6. It's an unrewarding language to learn. The time you spend (waste) on learning Thai is time you could spend on lots on more rewarding things. I still can't follow the news headlines in Thai or read a Thai newspaper unaided after learning Thai for 5 years. The reason is 1) I'm getting older and my memory is no longer what it was 2) Thais don't answer me back in Thai never mind how better my Thai is compared to their "English".
  7. I don't remember taking any test when I got my driving licence renewed. Did it through an agency though. It was just a question of getting photographed. Anyway, what does "digitally" mean here? If you have to travel down to the Dpt anyway to get photographed, it doesn't change much whether you need to take a test or two (or watch a video).
  8. It seems now the Qdenga vaccine gets recommended by many countries even for seronegatives. Many countries still recommend against it for seronegatives though: https://academic.oup.com/jtm/article/32/3/taaf023/8064715 According to ChatGPT the vaccine affords low protection (something like 40%) against infection, but high protection (80%) against hospitalisation. This is reminiscent of the Covid vaccines (please no rant about the Covid vaccines!) I'm still sitting on the fence.
  9. Why low? Because I'm mocking a nation that postures about LI-BER-TY like no other in History, while at the same time criminalizing such basic freedoms as that of walking up to a woman and telling her "I give you one hundred, let's have some fun together"?
  10. Here's a slice of Thai life about the teaching of English in Thai schools: The Thai sub-titles are original (not auto-generated).
  11. Could it be the girls were suspected of planning to trade sex for accomodation? Trading sex for material gain is PRA-STI-TU-TION !!! In the land of Liberty, that's a crime worse than terrorism.
  12. Where can I buy a dry herb vaporizer in Pattaya? I asked around, they don't seem to even know what that is. They only have disposable vaping pens (with God knows what inside).
  13. The toxic masculinity charade again. Male-bashing may have been why many men voted for Trump though having little to gain from most of his policies?
  14. Even those with traffic lights. Besides, the lights will work for a few weeks then go dead for lack of maintenance. There's no money to be made in traffic light maintenance you see. Thai brain: "Are you giving me any money to maintain the lights? You're not? I won't do it then!"
  15. I thought it had never ceased to be gloomy.
  16. If Trump can check China he will do us all - lefties included - a huge favour. China getting bigger and more powerful year after year is not something we can ignore. What will become of Thailand once the Chinese have both the strongest economy AND the strongest currency? Hordes of poor Chinese are bad enough, fancy hordes of rich Chinese?
  17. Somewhat said: "Harvard is a hedge fund with a university attached to it". There's some truth in that. Universities and their hedge-funds are tax-free, like cults. If I am a right-wing tax-payer, should I be happy with my tax-payer's money going to fund tax-free outfits of left-wing agitprop who already manage billions? Of course this raises the question of why Trump doesn't go after religious cults who enjoy similar privileges.
  18. Indeed, and average hard drug overdoses per day how many? 0.5? Much of what is wrong with modern Societies is that they can't get their priorities right.
  19. This is one of the reasons I never advise acquaintances back home to book a holiday to Thailand. I don't want to be blamed if they come to harm.
  20. This - and not the Songkran road carnage - is a scandal?
  21. Quote: " up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 300,000 baht". In other words, a slap on the wrist.
  22. Did she say she wanted you to be high on what? If it was on cannabis, no problem in Thailand.
