Well, I drive on these roads, Chao Fa West, East, and the road coming from Rawai.
So there is no need for any bias here to suggest what happened.
Just about all these younger guys, (girls do the same as I can see), training in Muay Thai or boxing gyms, they want to show their strength by renting big motorbikes, as loud as they can get them, and drive as if their abilities shield them from possible accidents.
Speed, they just need that for their show of strength. From what I can see... Including quite a few accidents involving big motorbikes on these streets. Way too many compared to the ratio of smaller bikes, driving a tad bit too fast as well, but who make it to their destination...
Sometimes I catch myself hoping that they just end up crashing somewhere, not involving other drivers. And now I catch myself hoping that my hope was not involved in this guy's demise....
But the culture here has more power than any of my hopes...
So Kap dee dee as they say here....
I think I saw that guy in the morning we had stopped at the lights with Sai Yuan road, and he was infront of us in the outside lane when the lights changed he let rip, this was all about the same time, that morning we didnt go down the tunnel I did a U turn back to the post office, prior to that I had been on Nai Harn beach and saw all them Muay Thai guys from the same gym where he would have been going back to,

That stretch of road is wide and to my knowledge well lit, the only dangerous part is coming over the hill from Kata and down to that point, so I dont know what happened,

Once they announced that they all had to close down I bought a shaver from Lazada there was no way I could go months without an hair cut, My wife does it for me and still does but I might have to buy a new shaver soon it's not holding it's charge,
The other thing is I stopped going to the bar every day, Bad habit, I still have a drink at home but only one bottle, not 6 bottles,
My wife likes I spend more time with her and we go out once or twice a week for something to eat, find some new places to go, have a few beers and my wife drives so everybody happy,

They don't want nothing to do with it if someone has died in the house, I have known of a few cases down here in Phuket, one was some years ago and the farang died the house at that time was worth around 14 million obviously it takes time to sell so she borrowed a load of money against the house and never came back eventually the loan company took over the house, I did go and look at the house and it had been stripped of anything worth taking, who did that I don't know,

Funny you should bring this subject up, her in doors is wanting to buy a new bike/scooter and we are in Phuket, we have now a Fino, it's now 15 years old but in really good condition it's only done 39,000 just over, gets serviced regular, but no she wants a new one, she hardly uses it because she has a car, ok whatever.
So we go out for a drive yesterday we went to a couple of Yamaha dealers around Phuket town, the new Yamaha grand Filano they have all different prices, I'm confused when you walk in the showroom they are all over you like a rash,
Dodgy fukers they have different prices for different colours, ABS is more, matt finish ir more expensive than a shiny finish, I said to her I've got a headache listening to these two I'm going outside for a smoke,
Anyway her younger brother lives in Nontaburi and he has a couple of Yamaha's he can buy for us from there we save about 12,000 baht plus she can get the one she wants White Metallic, and the post office will ship it down here for 1250 Baht,
I have been told I could still get around 12,000 baht for the old bike here in Phuket,

Personally, I think they should just make him sign a promissory note for the fine and an airline ticket and stick him on the next flight home. Just to be humane.
But I also think they should have one fine if you accept a ban from the country, but offer a higher fine that would waive the ban. Win-win. But that's not going to happen, either.
Edit: I'd amend my statement above to "allow him to fly to a country where he's welcomed under an asylum program if that's his choice". Because of his nationality, under current conditions.
One thing we dont know is where he was flying to, maybe he wasnt going back to Ukraine but if he gets locked up in the IDC and he is able to buy a ticket it has to be their country of origin, so BKK to Ukraine,

Because if they did that, every overstayer would claim poverty when they show up at the airport.
Yes I agree but right now it's costing Thailand money and he might not have the money to buy another ticket especially if he gets locked up in the IDC, then the ticket will cost him double,

I stopped a Chinese couple last week wanting to rent a bike, they had no license I told them to download BOLT it will save your life and cheaper,

All I can think of is they are turning up at the airport completely skint cant pay the fine so they are getting arrested, I know he is wrong overstaying but if all he to his name was the flight ticket, why not just put him on the plane?

Used to be North Korea doing that.
Many years ago I went to Amsterdam for the weekend when I got there my mate asked me if I had dollars with me, I didnt have any but he said all the exchanges are not accepting $$$$, he reckoned it was the Libyans flooding the market with fake notes,

Judging by some of the rents being asked for, that could be 1 month rent and 2 months deposit, Regardless of the nationality thats a dirty trick, I hope they get caught,

These BBQ Buffets are popular here in Phuket and the ones I have been in have a sign some where about a charge for un eaten food, quite right as well,
Over a 1000 baht seems expensive,

Things are not good right now over there, our cleaner was next month going home for a couple of weeks and to go to her sister's wedding, already the airline moved her flight a few days, now she is saying she might have to cancel as she might not be able to get back,
