Is AirBNB "legal" in Thailand?
I confess to not having followed this issue.
Are stays greater than 30 days more "legal"?
Airbnb is Legal in Thailand, what is illegal is the STR business, so any stay over 30 days is legal, many blocks of condo's in Bangkok banned Airbnb, also if the apartment building has Hotel license then it's ok to do STR's,

I don't know where they are staying in Phuket I don't see any around Rawai, my wife said there was few in Central shopping

It's engrained in Thai society you are not going to stop it, I've been around here long enough to see plenty of it going on, where do you start? Land department then you can go to the business development department and on the same soi is the labour department give them a visit,
You want a yellow book? now there's a story in Phuket,
I've seen this farang wait nearly 7 month for a work permit, obviously he didn't slip a few quid in the folder.

Maybe the word "arrested" is incorrect. Normally, overstayers are pulled aside and fined, then let go (I always thought).
Not no more judging by the amount that have been arrested at Phuket airport,

All I can think of with these guys getting arrested at the airport don't have the 20,000 to pay the fine, I get that, if they had a valid ticket, just let them go, now it cost Thailand to keep him,

I had a browser and found out:
The Hotel Act of 2004, specifies that it is illegal to operate a hotel business without a license.
But it seems homes can be rented out under some circumstances, so partially right
What is illegal is STR no less than 30 days, without a license, Not just Airbnb that applies to all other OTA's, If you have a house or villa for rent you can still list it on Airbnb minimum stay being 30 days, you are not doing anything illegal.

According to Booking.com Saudi Arabians are top of the list, I don't know where they get these figures from but here in Phuket is quiet,
Last week bookings are down 12% in the Rawai area,

I thought Airbnb was illegal here? I may have missed some news.
I suppose if they bring in the tourist dollars it doesn't matter.
Please keep up, Airbnb is not illegal in Thailand,

The UAE is a hub for mercenaries in Africa and the Middle East. Now the Emirates want their own version of the French Foreign Legion. That may change how secret, private armies work in a legal grey zone.

IF this is true, why don't they get all the other loan sharks?!? Obviously I 'forgot' to mention that this is a farang loan shark...
BTW, do you need a workpermit as a loan shark? It can hardly be defined as 'work', can it?
Also BTW, is it on the 'Thai professions only' list? You would need a license, I dont know if a farang would get one, maybe not.

22 years living in Thailand
so assume he came to LOS when he was 22 years old
how has he supported himself for 22 years
what visa has been on for 22 years - is that possible?
when / where was he a mercenary if he's lived in Thailand since he was 22 years old?
Some explanation would be nice.
There is a few in Thailand that work for private military's companies, I used to know 2 of them and they worked in Iraq 1 month on 1 month off something like that, they would be on $10,000 a month, another job they could do is on the ships going past Somalia, A guy i knew who did that said that was boring but he got well paid for it,

But what does Big Jim think?
BTW, his records at Nice FC and with the Ineos Grenadier cycling team (ex Sky) are not writ large with success.
United is whole different ball game, I'll put my neck on the line and say ETH is staying I listened to Jonny Evans hw knows what's going on, I'll agree some big decisions to be made, with Varane going IS Casemiro also going? maybe.
They should keep Amrabat it's taken a while for him to settle in but he has been played out of position in the right position he is a warrior and to replace him United would have to pay double that.
On the game, the first half they dominated the game could have been 3- nil, both goals they sliced citys defense wide open, over the season were was this United team?
Over the 2 season ETH has gained some valuable experience also so in his defense that is worth considering, get rid of the plonkers that need to be gone,
I think it was a brilliant all round game, and a mention for Hojland around the 95th minute he picks the ball up and runs at citys defense still going for goal,
