    a couple of thoughts

    1.  what is the punishment or what happens when you re stopped is there a breathalyzer asnd if you blow over what do the poice do ( I am not talking about brown envelopes)

    2.  To me it seems just as the people that lose theirl ives by living in dried river beds during monsoon season in India and Pakistan Songkran and NYE are Darwins way of controlling population and removing those of a lesser IQ.  Drinking and driving, drinking and driving on a motorcycle and of course drinking and driving on a motorcycle at high speed with no helmet.

The only way people are going to learn is if there are paddy wagons at the check points and people are actually arrested and taken to jail.  Let's face it taking away a licence is not going to stop people here anymore than it stops people in NA.

Drunks are going to drink and drunks if they have a vehicle are going to drive.  The only deterrent is jail time and monitoring.

I can only speak for Phuket, people do get arrested and banged up, the police had quite a few check points around, Last year I know a guy (Thai) got stopped one night in Chalong he was over the limit he had a choice pay 40,000 baht at the roadside or go to jail and court in the morning, he said he will go to court in the morning, he got fined 5000 baht,

I have no bias for or against the Russians.

All I can say is that I enjoyed reading (thrice) the book by Boris Pasternak.

I also loved the performance of Rod Steiger and July Christie when he unexpectedly stuck his tongue down the mouth of Julie Chrisite.

Whenever I think of the Russians, these are just some of the thoughts I have.

I grew up on Russian Novels, as well.

I read them when I was in my early teens, but I did not read them in Russian.

    I read the translations, unfortunately.

I would like to get to know the Russian better, while being here in Thailand.

    I hope that I can.

But, I would prefer meeting mostly famous Russian authors, like the guy who wrote One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

    You know the one:

    image.png.2ef7afe6bc0b6a612a3bc246184af27f.png

Mostly, I always enjoy meeting those with a bit of education and intelligence.

It matters not to me where some guy is from, just as long as he is not stupid and boorish.

Speaking of tounging Julie Christie, I am not surprised that Steiger was happy to do so.

Here he is talking about his famous on-camera tounging of Christie in the Great film, From Russia with Love!

I love Russian Novels, for sure.

I cant say Ive read to many Russian novels but I did read that on back in the day The Gulag Archipelago and a couple of others,

Commissions charged are to owners / Hosts are nothing to ask about as Agoda are open with what they charge .

I avoid using Agoda as they are slow to pay out money owing . Airbnb send payment within 24 hours of the guest arrival . . Agoda pay out at least a week and often longer after the guest has checked out .

Airbnb are a better company to deal with regarding all aspects of hosting guests in my opinion .

That said the price that Airbnb is charging for there service to the guests has increased considerably the last 18 months .

Yet we still have a good occupancy rate thanks to Airbnb .

I think booking.com has to be the worst, 10 days after the guest has checked out,

Good morning and happy new year.

Owner has the right to cancel a reservation (deposit with invoice of it provided by him) just three days before the check in date? There was no written deal, just whatsapp texts between us. Thank you.

Did you book through the owner direct or through a online platform like booking.com?

  5. It's a big problem with the OTA industry the price advertised is not always the price you pay, most of these sites allow the Host to add additional fee's and you as the guest are not aware until you book, To some of the major hotel groups it's what they call up selling check out some of the mad things they will charge extra for like Valet parking,

In the last 12 months Airbnb have tried to address this problem so before you book you are aware of any additional fee's not added afterwards,

The biggest problem I have seen over the year many guest do not read the full listing and what additional cost, such as cleaning fee, pet fee, electricity not included,

Yesterday I booked an hotel room with booking.com. Paid with my Bkk Bank debit card for a better rate, and received a confirmation email in minutes. The payment had been taken from my bank, as I had expected.

Later I got an email, pretending to be from booking.com, saying that my card had been declined and I should click on a link showing. It was in my junk box and showed a fictitious sending address. I deleted it immediately.

NEVER open an attachment or open a link in ANY email you do not know is 100% kosher, or they will be emptying your bank account with your card details.

Got similar emails this morning from Amazon? and PayPal? I wonder if booking.com has got a leak.

A few months back BDC had major problems with their payment system many host were not getting paid, they owed us about 5000 baht eventually we got paid and they sent us $55 cash gift,
