I've had steak from Texas, Japan , Australia, Argentina , Brazil and a few other places, and they're all great. Hard to decide. Enormous helpings is a big reason so many in the US are above average sized. Buffets are not a good thing for those without self control.
I found the same in Dubai we could share the meals,

Yeah, happened to me one time. Probably about 20 years ago. We refused to get out of the taxi. It was late and we had traveled 24 hours. No way were we getting out of the taxi. And yes, it still goes on. I had an AIrBNB condo for rent before the pandemic. Happened to at least 3 of our customers, that I know of.
I didn't get out of the taxi, they came out to the car,

What expat here doesn't know the Phuket taxi mafi stories? You'd need to be living under a rock.
Regarding "destroying the image of the country?" Yeah. That is true. Just look at the impact of violence such as this - a Thai man physically assaulting and pulling a foreign women out of his car. I find it revolting just like other instances of Thai and foreigner violence that leads to death and injuries.
These instances are paid lip-service by Thai politicos, but the actual problem is obviously still a problem.
In the meanwhile - blame the tourist.I can go back 24 years, I landed in Phuket one night got a taxi to take me to the Holiday inn Patong I knew where I wanted to go, then he stopped at some travel shop on the by pass road, they were trying to get me to change hotels, I think that scam still goes on, some place got heavily fined,

easier said than done, I think most of them drivers from the airport limo companies, rent them by the day so the driver doesn't have a car, if they did have a car it has to be no older than 6 years, something along them lines,

My daughter and her husbands family came here last May and stayed a 5 star hotel in Karon, it was obscene prices for beer and wine, in the two weeks they were here I only about 3 bottles of beer which was supposed to be in happy hour,
Other guest were saying the same, guest my daughter got friendly with she must have told them her dad lives here they were asking me what to do, Dont buy from the hotel there is a 7/11 across the road at least go there, and you can buy a small bag of ice from there.
Ok we live here but the tourist get spanked, I did read the reviews of that hotel and quite a few guest remarked about the prices, no wonder the place was empty in the evenings, serious they would turn the lights out in the restaurant and bar, that was low season but they still had a few guest, nobody stayed in the hotel in the evening, <deleted> thick,

well if like me I buy nowhere near the amount I used to since covid I would say 50% down, most people I know don't go out much as they used to, up to now I have bought nothing like I used to come this time of the year,
We will be going out for Christmas dinner I don't really like drinking beer with my dinner not sure what I will do, instead of buying a bottle of wine maybe just a couple of glasses, my wife doesn't drink.

According to the latest population census, 12 million 560 thousand households in Russia do not have a centralized cold water supply.
The lack of running water is not just a problem for the private sector. In addition to 6 million “waterless” houses, in Russia 6 million individual apartments and 520 thousand communal apartments are not connected to the centralized water supply.
About 7 million people noted that they get water from “individual sources” - wells, standpipes, and personal wells.
Sewage is also a problem; 23% of Russians live without it. According to Rosstat, 18.1% of the population use cesspools, and 4.9% have no sanitation system at all. Among rural residents, 48.6% use cesspools. A third of Russians living in the private sector use an outdoor toilet. And 5.8% of Russian residents do not have any toilet at all
They were seen stealing toilets from Ukraine

wow ! .... 300k is a huge amount for a Thai. I was hooked on the pokies for a long time, hence i'm so glad they're not in Thailand. The thinking is that your next spin will get that big pay .... and then you get nothing. I do know some thais who spend alot on football & lottery tickets.
I used to have a neighbour who was Thai, would spend between 10 to 15 thousand baht a month on lottery tickets on top of that play cards in the local gambling dens,
