  1. Around 9-10mbps, on both Dtac and True sims (both on 10mbps packs). I was more interested in real life performance, and glad to know that YT, Netflix, Pulse and few other streaming sites didn't stutter on Dtac (as never did stutter my 1y True sim), so now I bought Dtac 20mps 1y. ???? After @userabcd post, I also checked my messages and saw SMS offer from True (in Thai, even if my True settings are English ????) to renew my 10mbps pack for another year at 1890thb, which means keeping the same number for extra 100thb (since regular price for this pack is 1790thb), not bad. My girlfriend need new sim 1 year 10/20 Mbps too, so I might give her this Dtac 20mbps and keep my old True 10mbps... Or, maybe I'll check AIS 10mbps 1y as I heard it's actual speeds are 30+mbps, as @Pravda mentioned it here today too.
  2. Thanks Sheryl, yes. I'm in Thailand long time already, she was as well, just last month she went to China to do her semi-annual treatment, and found out she's pregnant. She already got her new STV Visa to come back, if we decide on Thailand, but not sure yet... This month is decision and action time, while she is still fit to fly... Thanks for good luck ????
  3. Already finished the testing (10mbps) successfully, cheap sim gave to neighbor for free, and bought new Dtac 1 year 20mbps, now I'm good until 2023/Feb ????
  4. OK I see, thanks... Yeah those monthly packs are more expensive, 1 year packs are really good value... I have dual sim so I keep my old number for banking, CC etc... Hope next year there will be more 20/30mbps offers on 1 year sims, now only Dtac has 20mbps 1 year..
  5. I see, but I wanted to test 10mbps speed Dtac to compare it to True 10mbps speed... (not to test max-speed)?
  6. Here is the English manual for Dtac sim self-registering, if anybody needs it: https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/self-register.html
  7. I just wanted to test 1day 20mbps, but Dtac didn't had so I bought 10mbps 1day pack. I don't need this cheap sim, I'll give it to somebody. My True 1 year plan is due, so I was testing Dtac to see which one to buy next for 1 year. But you mentioned I could just reapply True 1 year (keep the same number?) which is interesting... Thanks ????
  8. Thanks, I didn't know this, I thought those packs work just for a year I need to buy new sim ???? So I can keep my True number and just reapply 1 year pack?
  9. I didn't want to make it faster, just eant d to see how 20mbps Dtac is handling real world scenario (YT, Netflix, Pulse TV) on my location, not max-speed which is obviously great... Anyways since Dtac didn't had cheap 20mbps pack (for my testing purposes), I bought 10mbps cheap pack and it seems to work fine same as my True 10mbps did for a year... I'll also test this Dtac 1day 10mbps today around the island, and if coverage is as good as it was True, then I'll buy 20mbps 1 year sim ????
  10. Activate yourself, it's easy, I have English manual from Tree Mobile, if you need it pls PM me.
  11. Yep I bought cheap 20thb Dtac sim to test it on my location. It came with 7gb data, it works great but it's max-speed (not 20mbps), so I was thinking to buy cheap 20mbps day or hour package to test it, but it seems that Dtac doesn't have 20mbps packages, so I'm not sure how to test it... Or maybe for Netflix, YT, Pulse TV it doesn't matter if it's 60 or 20 mbps (right?)... Other option is to just buy True 10mbps, since the old one worked flawlessly for the past year... I'll see . . . Edit: OK I actually bought Dtac 1-day 10mbps package and it works fine in my condo... I'll also test it today around Phuket island to see if it has good coverage like True... If all good, then I'll buy 20mbps 1-year sim.
  12. Sheryl thank you so much for your advice, that's exactly what I need, a particular doctor so I can check further with them. We are still checking if it's possible to do it in USA or Singapore (depending on visas situation), but if we decide on Thailand then I will fly to BKK in advance to visit that doctor (and maybe others too), show them her medical records and discuss about best options and plan. Sorry if I wasn't so clear about her particular condition. While I can speak English well, my medical vocabulary is not the best, especially for some rare words. Her best friend is taking care of that because some records are in Chinese (will be translated by HK doctor to English), she has all the records about her condition and treatments from China, HK, USA and SG hospitals, it's a lot like several books, and doctors understood it well. Again thank you Sheryl for your advice and insight, and @richard_smith237 as well, I really appreciate it. Cheers, Alex
  13. Thanks, didn't know about this one... High speed and unlimited for 999 a year, interesting... What happens if no 4G and doesn't go down to 3G, no internet? Anybody else using TOT? How is the quality compared to True & Dtac in the same coverage?
  14. Yeah I know, I'm using True 10mbs/12m due to expire soon, looking for 20mbps (so far I see Dtac only).
  15. Yeah I noticed this new Dtac deal for 20mbps as well. True doesn't have one yet (right?). How about AIS? I'm using True 10mbps due to expire in 2 weeks. I'll buy cheap Dtac sim (only 20thb here in Phuket) and some cheap 20mbps hour or day package, just to compare actual speed and coverage in my place, then I'll decide to switch to Dtac or keep True... I'll try to check AIS as well.
  16. (P.S. sorry no idea why some paragraphs are in bold fonts, wasn't me)
  17. Hi all, I'm looking for very important advice, hope the people who are familiar with Thai hospitals can help, thanks ???? My Chinese fiancee is pregnant with twins, and she has a health condition which makes it a very high-risk pregnancy. Her condition is causing low blood pressure and oxygen in brain, most of the time she is fine, except occasional headache, and she has semi-annual treatments. Apart from that, she lives completely normal life without any limitations. But the pregnancy, especially unexpected twins, change the whole story and could lead to a very serious complications during birth. Doctor who treated and are treating her condition (respectable neurosurgeons in USA, HK and SG, some of them are our friends) all agree that any complication or blood loss during birth could lead to a coma, so we need to find the place with best specialist and equipment for this very special and very high risk birth. Our 1st choice is HOAG California (our daughter was born there, they were both in ICU and NICU, I cannot praise their service and team enough, Dr. became our friend), 2nd choice is Singapore (she had treatments there, top-notch service and care), 3rd and last choice would be here in Thailand - if I cannot get USA visa (no enough time) and if she cannot get SG visa (longer than just 30 days TR) - that's why I'd like to hear if anybody knows what is best hospital in Thailand for very high-risk birth? I heard praises about Bumrungrad in BKK, and I know Bangkok Hospital here in Phuket, but I don't know they really compare with hospitals in USA and SG in case of very high-risk birth, so if anybody could give any suggestions or experiences, or know the best specialists and facilities, we would be very very grateful ???? (P.S. while the price is not the most important factor, it would be good to know approximate ICU, NICU and other special expected or unexpected fees, so we could compare with USA & SG, and make financial plans in advance) Thank you all! Cheers, Alex
  18. Yep, absolutely sure, see the news and SG VTL website (attached photos). Singapore is open for vaccinated short-term travellers from 25 countries (including Thailand) via VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane), all you have to do is get vaccinated and buy VTL flight ticket (only 1k+ THB from BKK). My friends did it, and I'll do it if Thailand doesn't want out money. You get 90 day stamp on arrival and can go to Malaysia by land (VTL bus) after 14 days, and by a month or two surely others will open too (Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, etc...). There is also ATP (Air Travel Pass) for travelers from Taiwan, HK, Macao, China. High season is ending and Thailand decided to kick out the only foreigners who would stay here during low season, these guys are geniuses (slow clap) ????
  19. Yep sorry I meant VoA... never used it, as well as VE.... Only TR's and odd dodgy VV last year lol. Hope everything works out well for everybody here, but if we have to go, well... 2 great years in Phuket were more than enough now... Hello Singapore ???? and then Malaysia... and then Indonesia... and Philippines... and Vietnam... well, that's enough for couple of great years already, and I miss those places a lot ????
  20. Thanks... Would be useful to know was your friend using Covid Extensions since 2020, or he switched to some agent's Non-O and then started CE's recently?
  21. Yep I don't blame the agent much, definitely IO's upped their menu lol.
