  1. Slow news day? (Now waiting to see if a get a warning from a moderator.)
  2. Can you please share some photos of how you fixed the panels to your roof. Asking because I have concerns about roof leaking after panels installed. Heard several interested farang talking on the same point: want to install but frightened the roof will leak. Thanks.
  3. And a big portion of the populace: - believe what they want to believe, and - refuse to believe what they don't want to believe.
  4. Yes it was a strange configuration, could never understand why any airline would do that.
  5. Maybe better if you move your teak house to Milwaukee and stay there.
  6. Are those 'weights' real? Seem to be floating. Same as trump, can't believe anything the paymaster or his kin say.
  7. And I recall there's been several stories / reports that hunter biden's laptop contained very little illegal etc., content.
  8. Should not have been any option, should have been automatically taken to the local police station and charged and held.
  9. Decades ago in Australia, a news item a 12 yr old boy died of massive blood loss when his drugged father penetrated the boys anus and broke the internal skin which caused massive bleeding. Investigation revealed the anal penetration / intercourse with the boy had happened several times before when the father was high, with minor blood loss. Also revealed that the mother (always drugged) always performed oral sex on her 12 yr old son whilst the father penetrated the boy. And the boy also drugged by his parents. Both parents jailed for something like 30 years. The only somewhat positive point was that they had no other children.
  10. Not an answer however let me share; there was a senior cop owner / resident in my old condo in Bkk, very pleasant balanced guy spoke advanced English. Always asked good questions / made valuable comments at annual / extraordinary owners meetings. One additional attribute of the sne cop, if there was a specific discussion and the chair person tried to jump to the next agenda item / another subject the snr. cop would stand up and say 'wait, the discussion right now has not been completed, I suggest the chair person ask for suggestions and then take a vote'. I can just imagine the snr. cop now if there was a discussion about EV chargers, he would insist (alway calmly), there is no decision the meeting cannot move on until there is some voted resolution. This guy bought his condo second hand, he attended owners meetings immediately. First meeting he attended there was a mention of the continuing lack of repairs to the pool. Snr. cop asked for a summary of the situation from the of the paid condo manager. She tried to abruptly change the subject. Snr. cop responded with 'who would like a summary of the situation', then 'do you have any handout on the progress of getting repairs', then 'don't cut off my discussion point, owners are entitled to ask questions and get complete answers. A snr. bank employee (new owner) then said 'Can I propose we take a 1 hr recess and I will pay for coffee and snacks, then the condo manager give an up to date summary re the pool'. Bank manager also said to the condo manager, 'please task one of your staff to take names of owners and their tel. no's and tell the employee must call each number when the meeting is ready to continue'. Paid manager responded with abuse and 'don't tell me what to do'. Many owners pushed the paid manager to do as suggested by the bank guy. One hr later meeting restarts, paid manager says she needs 30 days to make a report re pool repairs. Instant response from 90% of owners 'No, now'. (Pool had not been functional for 2.5 years.) Snr cop suggested that a vote be taken to remove the pool repairs from the paid managers responsibilities and an owner (if willing) be appointed to manage the pool repairs. Vote taken, all agreed. Then a Thai engineer (unit owner) spoke and explained his qualifications and experience and offered to be the pool repairs project manager. Vote taken all in attendance agreed. The crunch: The new pool project manager asked for the file re reports / quotations for repairs. Turned out the manager had not kept any file. Next: a vote whether condo paid manager be dismissed. She left the building 1 hr later, not allowed to remove any documents.
  11. And/or regularly brings from abroad large supplies of basic foodstuffs all available at many outlets in LOS. Often same bad or equivalent quality local manufacture. Seen this many times. Recall one farang wife who brought massive supplies of very size of ziplock bags from the US. And a Brit guy who brought suitcases of meat pies in cans from the UK.
  12. Yes but overall total charges icl. flight not that bad. I've flown VietJet many times from CM and from Swampy to both Hanoi and to Ho Chi Minh. Check-in/ boarding never experienced any issues whatever, food ordered was great, cabin staff very obliging, always polite and courteous and they speak advanced English. Several times on arrival a VietJet ground staff approached just after leaving the aircraft and politely asked if I needed any help re visa or whatever. I didn't, all done in advance. One trip to Ho CHi Minh I did passport quickly, bag already on the carousel and I changed some money. I went outside and ran into one of the polite / focused Vietjet male cabin crew from my flight. He asked If he could help in any way, I responded 'I'm looking for a driver with my name on a board to take me to my hotel'. He asked for name of my hotel and wrote in on the back of my boarding pass, then he headed, with me following for a microphone to make a public announcement and a minute later driver appeared through the crowd. Vietjet boy ensured I and my luggage safely in the car, I thanked him and we said bye bye. Nice experience.
  13. Candidacy registration: voluntary or as directed by military folks? And according to the methods (post just above) there is no election therefor the Thai public not having a right / a chance to select the senators.
  14. Further: Thaksin claimed he knew nothing about the event. Sorry mr. paymaster it doesn't work like that.
  15. But hang on, what happened to the long long twisted discussions about all visitors paying a health cover tax to compensate hospitals for unpaid bills. Never happened. So will this new tax go the same way? Probably. Get some clever capable people into ministerial positions (not drug jailbirds) along with clever focused ethical ministry staff.
  16. Agree re Singapore (sg). The big plus is proximity, kids can come home to Thailand / parents can visit kids frequently. Many years back my Thai son completed his last several years of high school in SG and loved it, and the educational outcome was totally excellent. In those days you could do a deal with AirAsia; guarantee that the child would do x number of return trips within a 12 month period and pay 50% of the cost upfront. Got a very big discount. AirAsia even had a service to pick up kids from their homestay or whatever to take them to the airport. Some small downside with Thai hi-so kids misbehaving themselves and being arrogant / rude to teachers and other students, especially to other Thai students who didn't 'qualify' as hi-so / rich kids. During the time my son was there several of these hi-so kids were instantly dismissed because of a specific negative event* and deported and passports marked 'cannot enter SG for 10 years'. (*One event: several Thai hi-so boys made a big pile of Teak beach furniture and set fire to it.)
  17. Sure but doa lot of research about th teaching quality / teaching outcomes before deciding what school. Some I'national schools in BKK are quite good, others make big claims but the teaching / outcomes is pretty poor.
  18. And within a short time another building will go up somewhere which is taller. In reality how would 'tallest building' attract big numbers of tourists?
  19. The VN situation was complex. I got conscripted, served in VN. Back home there was nothing available to get re-employed / resume education. Tried to join a national ex-servicemens organization, the lady laughed and said 'you cannot join, we don't have a box on our member application form for VN vets because it wasn't a real war', and she pointed to the door. Further the day we returned to home (a group of twenty vets) we arrived at the army HQ office for our state at 3:00 am in the morning and got abused by the civilian clerical workers because they had to come to work early in the morning (3:00 am) to process our discharge paper.
