Your pink card also no mention of PR. hopefully a member who has a pink card with PR printed on it will share so we can all see it and use it as an example to approach the amphur office. Actually I'm wondering about the use of the letters PR. We all call it PR however the correct words are 'Certificate of Residence'. On the other hand I did once speak to a snr. Immigration General about the waiving of return date during the height of the Covid- 19 situation. He spoke perfect English. I started talking about 'Certificate of Residence', he quickly referred to it as PR..... .

Pension from Australia qualifying criteria
scorecard replied to Kenny202's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
Another point possibly not known by many: If/when you qualify for 'portability' (complete the 2 years back in Oz) and you do go abroad: - You can request that Centrelink do an automatic international bank transfer to any bank account in the world and you can change it as often as you want. Quite easy to set up. - Mine goes direct to a savings account with K Bank. Same day as payments in OZ. Seems to be a fully automatic process; from what I can se on the CREDIT ADVICE e.mail and confirmed in a phone call to Hobart the funds should be/are is in my Thai bank account within an hour or so after transfer lodged in Oz. - The account receiving your payments can be a joint savings account. Centrelink told me they prefer that the other party to the joint savings account be a family member but it doesn't have to be. But obviously one of the names on the joint savings account must be you. The joint account can be 'both parties must sign', or it can be 'only one signature needed', Centrelink don't ask any questions re this point. - My joint savings account is myself and my adult Thai son, only one signature needed. - For INternational transfer OAP payments the time period changes from fortnightly to 4 weekly. My payment arrives into K bank every 4th Monday around 10:00 am. - It's difficult to get a clear answer about international bank charges however the charges that appear are very low. I set up 2 incoming advice systems with K Bank: I get an automatic/instantaneous SMS when the money arrives in my K bank joint account (very small SMS charges). I get an automatic/instantaneous 'CREDIT ADVISE' e.mail from K bank which provides full details. The K Bank charge which appears for me is 87Baht per transfer (very small charges). If you want further details don't hesitate to call the Centrelink toll free line (Thailand to Hobart - free call) on 009 6136 2223 455. Calls anwered quickly, very pleasant and friendly C/link officers, good listeners, very focused complete answers. You can call this number on any subject to do with OAP matters. -
Thaksin: Don’t Cremate My Dead Body, Let The Battle Be Immortalized

Keeping in mind that he had 2 bats, 'yes' and 'no.' After getting a question from a reporter he would hold up 'yes' or 'no', indicating he would or wouldn't accept the question. And not negotiable. And there was the incident when a foreign reporter asked him an awkward question (based on known facts), and thaksins response was to say 'idiot scum' and nominate another reporter to ask a question. The foreign reporter was deported the next day. -

Thaksin, knowing there was strong criticism about the state of Thai education, appointed himself as the Education minister with much fan fare of what he would achieve in xxx days. Six months later nothing had changed and with no far fare he quietly removed himself from the position and appointed a new Education minister. Further, it was later revealed he had shared there was a brick wall, the seniors in the ministry (academic and beaurocratic) refused to acknowledge his orders or enact his orders. Reality is that this same point/situation has happened a number of times with education resulting in Ed. ministers wanting out and moved. -

"Thaksin needed to be smart, because he was under threat of being held accountable. Either by being voted out,..." No further comment needed. -
Seems there were some attempts to contact the parents, but lets be realistic, a very large % of the population in this country people don't read newspapers, or online news reports, fact of life. All sorts or reasons for this, just one is that people don't trust these sources and with good reason. Bottom line, it was inappropriate for the teacher to do this. And, if this one kid didn't turn up without the special (one time only) clothes (which weren't as per a totally specific design), is it the end of the world? NO. Teacher says he/she didn't want the kid to be the only one without the special clothes. I don't buy that, I'm aware that at the school my three grandkids attend (kinder, P and M) all buildings close by in one compound there are kids every day who aren't wearing the fully designated standard uniform for that day.

I've written before about my Thai son. Here in Thailand he was going nowhere, achieving little in terms o gains in knowledge and skills. His experiences with Thai teachers was clear proof that the Thai education system, and the methodology was severely lacking. He went to SInagpore to continue high school, after just 2 months he was a completely different kid; outgoing, keen and well capable of participation in advanced discussions re huan rights and more. The difference was amazing, all because of a different education system, different focus, very different methodology (pedagogy), very different teaching behaviors etc.

Thank you. Your card is exactly the same format as my card. There is no mention of PR on the card. Earlier a posted mentioned having/seeing a pink card which had PR printed on the card. I'm hoping that poster would please share a scan or photo of the card so we can see an example of a pink card which specifically mentions PR. Also a copy of the back of the card. Then I will revisit the amphur office in Chiang Mai and request my card be reissued with PR printed on the card.

With all respect can I please refresh the request for the member who has a pink Thai ID card with the letters PR printed on the card please share a scan or photo of the card (but of course cover the name/ID number etc). Also can you please share a scan or photo of the back of the card. Thanks, appreciated.

It's mentioned clearly this was for a special day (Thai language day - which doesn't happen every week or month...) and therefore special clothes. It doesn't say it was meaning the standard dress code for Tuesday or whatever. Further is it possible the family has several kids and is struggling to feed them let alone have all the numerous uniforms for several kids? And further why didn't the teacher attach the same A4 note to the shirts of all/many of the students?

Yep, democracy by paying massive numbers of poor folks to vote for him, along with a threat if they didn't vote for him. The wonders of democracy. But I do agree, the younger very different parties with real and valuable fair policies are making ground however the military stacked senate still quite a road block to anything close to democracy. It will happen.... -

How wise! Reminds me of 'If things don't change they'll stay the same'. -
I've had PR for 24 years. The post just above says 'working rights'. I'm not sure what the poster means but if it means PR holders automatically have permission to work in Thailand then that's NOT TRUE. PR holders still need a work permit. can work work in Thailand Also neeed is a photo of the pink card with the letters PR. With such photo I will go to the CM main amphur office and ask for my current pink card to be reissued with the card showing PR. I also wonder what details are on the back of the pink card with the letters PR.
-
Can you please expand on: "...a Pink Card issued to Permanent Residents, who have specifically applied for PR with working rights and etc. has a tiny PR printed on it that the ordinary Pink Card does not. The PR Pink Card provides free 'Emergency Care' at 'any' hospital, even BNH. ..." Can you please share a photo of the pink card with PR printed on the card (cover the holders name and ID number of course). I gained PR 24 years ago, much more recently got the pink card but it doesn'y have any indicator of PR. Also can you please share more about pink ID card providing free 'Emergency Care'. I've never heard of either item but always keen to learn, thanks.

Loan Sharks are even harassing factory owners over workers’ debts
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well that's one view. I suspect there's also loan sharks who know that the borrower will have a hard time repaying the loan but they go ahead an lend and eventually make money. Having said that, every org. that loans money wants it returned as fast as possible so that they have the capital to start another loan. It takes all kinds. -
Very true, especially since for many items the documentary etc., requirements changes province by province / amphur office by amphur office. I have the Thai pink ID card because I have Thai Permanent Residence - PR <for 24 years> which also means my name is registered in the standard dark blue family tabien baan book. With my Thai adult son we have asked at 2 government hospitals whether the pink card or the PR book or name in dark blue tabien baan book brings any entitlement to discounted medical card. On both occasions a polite by definite NO. We did confirm that there is a specific costing list per medical service for all foreigners. As one example in the Chiang mai - Nth Thailand area a standard bed in private room is 1,500Baht per night including meals and basic nursing services. The standard 1,500Baht fee includes a relative / close friend sleeping in the room with bed/sofa provided (no extra charge), but the relative must provide their own meals.

Loan Sharks are even harassing factory owners over workers’ debts

Example, a Thai professor at my old uni, always desperate to impress everybody (especially Thai folks) and deseperate for other folks to think he's important. His salary is not big and never will be, partly because he has very few students because his teaching is less than satisfactory (English conversation). Several years back he bought a 6MBaht house and land in an expensive village in Bangkok, then later a top of the range Land Rover. In regard to the Land Rover last year he went to a couple of LR dealers and asked if they would make up a package of the logos, decorations, title bars fitted to the outer panels etc., and have them all fitted to his now 5 year old LR. All so that people will think he's got a new LR. At home one of the maids (he has 3 plus a cook plus a gardener) is tasked with cleaning/detailing his car whenever it's at the house). Over the years he's befriended quite a few farang lecturers and other farang. He appraoches all of them regularly for handouts of cash. Most times the fake reason is because his daughter is sick and near death and needs to go to an expensive hospital. He asked me once, several years back. I quickly responded; 'I'm very short of money myself and I was just going to ask you for a loan or a cash gift'. He changed the subject quickly, never asked again.
