  1. "The migrant Aussies who personally did nothing to the aboriginals and don't want to accept blame?" OK but the migrant aussies need to accept whatever baggage comes with the situation. Applies to many things in life. Nobody did/would guarantee them that the country was perfect. A bit too serious...
  2. First point is to recognize how big Australia. Sure it's an Island but it's a very very big island with enormous distances between the state capitals, enormous distances between regional cities/towns. Another item, be aware of how big sheep grazing properties are as you get further away from the coasts. My family 2 generations back owned one such property in NSW just down from the point where Queensland/NSW/Nth. Terrritory Queensland join togther. Total size of the property 170,000 acres. Grazing/ranching properties are typically rates for 'how many sheep/cattle can be successfully run on one acre. The property I'm referring to was rated at 17 acres for 1 sheep. And there were many such properties in that area.
  3. This behavior is present in every country/society/community/tribe/age group/sexual preference!
  4. Age not really relevant for those folks (Farang and Thai and all nationalities) who enjoy drama, seem to always get themselves into situations where drama is bound to happen/they can generate drama. One case: years back I had a farang friend living in a big very convenient and comfortable apartment building in Bkk, he was a good cook especially with Thai food and often several other Thai men/couples who lived in the building came for meals, all on the floor (normal). The apartment opposite was occupied by a farang and his partner a mid 20s gatoey. The farang went to work (teacher) and the gatoey sat in the doorway in skimpy clothes and asking men walking along the corridor if they were lonely etc. Again and again my farang friend would be at home and a knock on the door, the farang opposite (the teacher) had just come home from work and his gatoey friend instantly in tears, claiming that when the farang opposite (my acquaintance) came home and when other Thai men came to the same apartment they were, saying rude words and saying things suggesting the gatoey was a pro. So the teacher was asking again and again for the abuse to stop. Compounding all of this the gatoey would at the right moment intervene in the conversation saying 'if they give me 1,000Baht I will forgive them'. And continuously telling the farang teacher bf to punch the 'offending' males My farang acquaintance got tired of this and made arrangements to move to another floor of the building, and no drama. A few months later he was approached in the lobby of the building by another farang who had moved into the apartment with the gatoey opposite. After a few months he had also moved to another floor.
  5. OK but totally apart from that there's another specific point - What about the large number of votes of the military packed senate when he PM is selected?
  6. I was back in Oz a short while back. Everybody has their own circumstances etc., however the item that shocked me was the cost of living. Buying a steak was way outside of my budget, I selected vegies carefully to ensure I kept in budget, no variety. I went to a mid priced restaurant not long after I arrived back, the bill for a basic dinner gave me a heart attack, no more restaurants. Friends/neighors mentioned a fish platter at a local sports club AUD75, for one person. I had neighbors who have stopped using their air con in summer, the electric bill would bankrupt them. Taking a taxi suddenly in the AUD40, 50, 60 plus range. I struggled with buses, using a folding walker. But aussies still very helpful and friendly.
  7. It's a game, every one of their last several reports is conflicting.
  8. Re the work permit, I can't quote you the law or relevant regualtions, however: - I've handed the WP to the HR lady 4 weeks after I finished work (I forgot), she didn't say anything and I'm aware that she did hand it in weeks later when she went to Din Daeng for a completely different reason. - Same employer a couple of years later, I resigned and I asked the HR lady for a correct date to give her the WP book. Her respons, 'not important, forget about it'. I still have it 2 years later. I have PR so I can't comment on the visa questions.
  9. "Finance minister and head of the democrats Jurin Laksanavisit and Move Forward party chief Phitha Limcharoenrat also featured in the poll." So what's the details???
  10. i have a couple of Thai friends who say it's obvious in many of these er-enactments that the police are telling the suspect what to say, where to point etc. Great juatice system.
  11. Thanks, I hope she does run and she wins, seems to me that would turn around the current horrid situation created by trump and his goons. But a big call of course.
  12. Thanks, however I'm guessing with her quite succesful track record re J6 so far (just my opinion of course) she may well work with the remining comittee behind the scenes in terms of developing strategy, formulation questions subjects etc?
  13. Thanks for the answers, appreciated. One more question, according to the appropriate laws could she continue* in a 'minor' role? (*Continue to ask questions as a member of the audience present, or similar.)
  14. Just a curiosity question because I have very simple understanding of the American system. Not looking for a political firestorm or hate liz cheney thread or anything similar. Please share an answer specific to my question. Thanks.
  15. My Thai looked at a Toyota 5 door multipurpose model. He want several times (twice to take his wife), 'their' salesman was sleeping and not allowed to wake him up. As a compromise 2 pretty girls were quickly assigned, one all over my son like a rash to the point son's wife told her to back off. Another sales employee made it clear it was very rude of son's wife to say anything to the pretty girl, 'they are just trying to help you'. He bought a Honda Mobilio.
  16. A few days ago I opened a new savings account at K Bank. The officer took my pink card and typed the pink card number into the ID box. She mentioned that the bank now prefers the pink card number because it links to national databases and because it's for life. Whereas in the past foreigners always gave their passport number as ID but the passport number changed when the passport was renewed at 5 or 10 years. She also asked if I had any other K Bank savings accounts, if so I should get the ID number updated to the pink card number to avoid any problems if the account owner can't get access to something because the passport number has exceeded the country of issue expiry date. K Bank call centre just confirmed that doing the update (enter the pink ID card number to supercede the passport number) has just changed, it can now be done at any K Branch office. (Previously had to be done at the branch of issue. Bank call centre ladies have recently twice mentioned that the bank is moving closer and closer to savingss accounts (all services) being seen as national accounts rather than belonging to a specific branch.)
  17. Or Chiang Mai or Jomtien and other regional Immigration offices.
  18. Keep in mind that the 'indefinitely' comment came about regarding foreigners holding PR who had departed LOS and then had serious issues/great difficulty to get back to Thailand by the expiry date in their current re-entry stamp (because of Covid- 19 infection spreading, severe difficulties to get a return flight etc.) and the Thai authorities therefore extended the deadline to return date to indefinitely - the return trip only. The Indefinitely aspect has never been mentioned in terms of totally cancelling the exit/re-entry stamp requirement. (But it would of course be very welcomed).
  19. You mention " Also I have always thought failure to get back into Thailand before the re-entry expired was an automatic cancelation of the PR." (NOTE: I have changed the word to be in bold and underlined. scorecard.) Are you meaning after rather than before?
  20. One of the key words being used by Division1 was that the extension of the deadline date (for PR holders) to return was the word 'indefinitely' (obviously meaning extended indefinitely). I did at one stage snag a snr. Immmigration general at Division 1 on the phone, speaking perfect English, polite and pleasant. This was when I was getting panicky about 'has Immigration issued a final date for PRs to return, etc., and I was following every angle I could dig up to try to get any new info on the 'deadline to return date' He commented 'PR is issued for life', and therefore does not have a final date, and the exit/re-entry stamp process/data kept is just a simple means of having some idea of how many PR holders go out and come back and nothing more. This is not really important data and therefore no need to be serious about it. (I don't know his name.)
  21. Another possibility is to call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who are closely involved in these subjects: There's plenty of advanced/perfect English speakers on 0 2203 5000, always good listeners, always very focused and good clear answers/guidance.
  22. The re-entry expiry date in my passport and PR book 16 Nov 2020. I returned to Bkk on 9 dec 2021. No issues whatever, passport snr. officer told the passport desk guy to stamp me in and write in Thai 'entered under xxx waiver'. (I / Thai family members can't decipher the xxx word.) All done in less than 5 minutes, and moved on to pick up my luggage. (From my understaning PR holders who got caught out of Thailand under the Covid- 19 travel etc, issues can stiil enter under the xxx waiver. Suggest you e.mail to division1.immigration@ gmail.com to get confirmation. Also if you look on the main Thai Immigration Bureau website the one page graphic on this subject is still appearing.) Also please take a look at the last page of the file (Thai and Eng) that I have attached. Please read all the pages several times, it can be confusing in terms of the dates involved. Note the purple arrow I've added on the last page. Perhaps the contents of this file could be a good anchor point for a discussion with division1 Immigration). Good luck.
