  1. "Make sure you have a hotel booking and evidence the deposit has been paid." Can you please confirm you only need to submit receipt to prove the DEPOSIT has been paid. Just yesterday I paid my ASQ hotel deposit (5,000Baht ) and I got a message immediately saying that the balance would be processed (using my Visa cc) 3 days before the end of my 14 days stay, and will include any additional charges for room service, 7/11 purchases and service charge, extra laundry etc.
  2. True of course. But it seems this guy, regardless of recently being chopped down, is still aiming for the top and not frightened to do so. And it seems that he does have support. It would be interesting to know who is strongly backing him and what their aims and ethics are. Perhaps more worrying, there's clearly many politicians/parties/their cronies/backers who aren't swayed/worried by his past criminal/jail/drugs record. Sad for Thailand.
  3. As said above. Withdrawing the limit every day for many days before death is obviously legal. The withdrawal limit can be changed, contact the bank and tell them you want the daily limit changed to xxxBaht. Your choice. Most of us use just a small number of the the functions available in our internet banking facility. Dig a bit deeper, maybe your bank allows daily withdrawal limits to be changed on their internet banking platform. Some banks will do this by telephone*. A first step could be to contact the bank call center and ask for the limit be changed, either on the spot by telephone or get their advice where/how to effect the limit change. (* many banks, in Thailand and world wide, and governments world wide have an ongoing policy to: Reduce cash transactions to a tiny level. In some countries there's a move towards small branches for cash transactions operated by a syndicate of banks. Push all customers to do more digital transactions (pay bills, wages and more). Push more and more bank customers and vendors to do most/all of their retail transactions by debit cards etc., and in some countries there's good progress towards 'cardless transactions. Push more and more customers to use internet banking with more and more functionality. Push more and more customers to do some of their banking by telephone. Build the capacity/ability for 'one stop' telephone banking - Customer calls bank, no answering machine, bank staff answering the phone completes the transaction (99% of all calls are not transferred to other staff) - every bank employee capable of handling all possible transactions/enquiries. Close large numbers of physical branches.)
  4. Reading the full details it seems the stark/pointed headline may be very misleading. Par for the course of course.
  5. And they have well over 100,000 new positives and a couple of thousand deaths, every day.
  6. Read the full article, not just 'bites' from the original post.
  7. But you have quoted only half of the OP. The complete statement, from the original post is: "Under the proposal, to be presented to government on Monday, those without vaccination proof would be isolated for 10 days if arriving by air, and 14 days if by land." In other words: - 7 days quarantine for those fully vaccinated. - 10 days for those not vaccinated, arriving by air. - 14 days for those not vaccinated, arriving by land.
  8. Further, examples; 1. Farang took his PR approval letter to local office to get his Certificate or Residence book issued. Older lady at the office refused to issue the book 'NO, I don't agree with this'. 2. My son, at 18 years old, took the family car & blue book to the Land Transport office near Din Daeng in Bkk to get the name changed from my name to his name. He took every book/document in existence in case needed. Loud dragon lady looked at my PR book then loudly told my son 'there's no such thing, this book is fake'. She motioned that she would rip up the book. Son quickly grabbed the book and scooped up all the documents and fled. He gingerly returned 3 or 4 days later, 2 staff remembered him and said 'she's not here today, we will do the transfer for you'. An hour later all done and he walked out the proud owner of his own car.
  9. Does that mean visa extensions can be stamped into passports up to 26th November, meaning that the final date to be in Thailand is late January?
  10. And senior officials / officials are elected/appointed, many paid, to plan things so that the event runs smoothly and comfortably.
  11. Is this: 1). An actual government policy initiative? Or 2). Is it, as always, the property developers talking it up and hoping that it might happen. (which it won't.) My bet is on 2).
  12. Well said. I add that it seems to me there's an ongoing / historical factor that a very high % of Thai folks (county and city folks) don't read newspapers and don't watch TV news programs (flip over to the soaps) so they are very poorly informed. Further, many folks (more especially the older folks) grew up being told/observed that it's not their business to decide anything, just do as you're told by the puu yai baan. Then there's a reliance on whether the puu yai baan understands the details and whether he/she does regularly inform the village folks.
  13. Or (IMHO) some citizens / groups of citizens have for a long time believed (and still believe) they are above the law and are a body which is entitled to be the ruling class with ultimate power to decide destiny and decide actions without abiding by laws and without equality and without transparent justice.
  14. "...after several years the Australian government notified him that his residents visa was being cancelled and his pension was being stopped because he is not an Australian citizen and has left Australia." He may be able to return to live in Australia for 2 years to gain/achieve 'residence qualifications' which would mean he is qualified to receive the full OAP (old age pension). In this situation (if he accepted to gain 'residencecy' he would receive the OAP immediately in Australia. If he can gain 'residence' then after 2 years in Australia he would also be entitled to 'portability' which means he could get his full pension paid into a bank account abroad for the rest of his life and not need to personally ever return to Australia.
  15. These reenactments are gross. How many time shave you seen cops telling the suspect and/or telling him/her where to point, or specifically how to act out an incident. All of which means the suspect is forced into saying things/doing things which are often not accurate and even worse totally incriminating. All totally ignoring all aspects of basic human rights. There's a long way to go.
  16. Why are these extra 'laws' needed? Surely: 1. Torture means aggravated violence for which Thailand already has laws with severe punishments for very violent cases. 2. Killings by state officials is murder for which Thailand already has laws with severe punishments for certain circumstances.
  17. Yes, but when they get some convictions then they can be praised, not before.
  18. Re-post to correct mistake: Agree, good luck for a happy and successful future young man.
