Read Thanathorn's history, he's not a thaksin.

They have lost my initial good will/trust but verify/innocent until proven guilty.
I now have learned it's far more efficient to regard them all with suspicion and then acknowledge only their actions and results rather than their usually meaningless words.
Obviously a very valid point, strong valid viewable / feelable results is the only ultimate measure.
But I, and many others, see Khun Thanathorn as the best bet to work towards and get the real scores on the board.

Weren't you one of the posters celebrating the military coup and subsequent military rule?
Let's get this right.
I saw the need to put a stop to yinglucks lack of management and her gangs lack of ethics (go ahead at the instructions of the CM shins to make fake country to country rice deals and more) get the boy back through unscrupulous 3 am votes, and the deliberate break down of the checks and balances.
I didn't strongly support suthep but I did see a need to somehow throw the shins and their scaly leaches out, Other poster have a million times labelled me as a 'junta hugger' and more, a bit of research will show that I was criticizing the junta from the start.

It also seems that once a person gets into a position of having a small amount of power such as a government position, even at the lowest level, that they immediately think much the same and use their position to belittle other, not so fortunate, Thais.
Sure, this happens, as it can be in other countries. I remember well as a child going with my mother of father to a government office in Australia and my parents being spoken to rudely, even aggressively and loudly by the gov't officers. All now changed.
I've tried to read everything Thanathorn has written and said, and I suspect the above is one of the things he wants to change. It's a tall order and I hope he gets the right folks behind him to achieve these changes.

You are correct but at least we have options.
The Thai majority are treated the same.
'We are treated like scum...'
Is that really true or is Thailand just trying to get things in order, as you find in many countries.

Why is this thread suddenly loaded with me, me, me stuff. Thailand never promised me or anybody utopia, we all came here realizing 'i'm moving to third world country fraught with numerous problems'.
Khun Thanathorn is focused on developing Thailand and so he should be.

The Thais just failed by their lack of both interest and determination to keep it.
Some truth in that however IMHO Khun Thanathorn realizes that and it's all part of his most recent speech.

Well perhaps Khun Thanathorn is saying, to have credibility we (the Thai people) need to step up and do the work to build democracy. Imposed / pushed from outside won't work, we don't own it as our own achievement / our own hard work to achieve a democratic country and society.
Perhaps this is like building your house yourself, you're proud of what you ultimately achieved, you own your achievement and along the way you (me) learned many good lessons and also realized what doesn't work and what can damage your house and we learned what protections we need to establish and maintain.
I think he's saying 'we (Thai people) need to do the work to build and own democracy'.
And I have no doubt Khun Thanathorn realized there is a long and hard road ahead with many bumps, however in nearly 40 years he's the only person I've seen who speaks with reality.

No, no; it's a camera linked to immigration HQ and to the local bank to automatically up the ATM withdrawal fee to 300Baht, and if you walk around the room in just your underwear then you can expect a quick visit from the culture police.

Was your will made in Thailand registered at the local amphur (government) office? If it was then maybe you should approach them and ask some questions. This office cannot stop you from totally cancelling your will or changing your will. It's totally your choice.
By law in pretty much any country, including Thailand you can cancel a will which could mean that legally there in no will at all, that's your right. You can change the beneficiaries at any time and any number of times to whatever you have now decided.
If you change your will the new will should state at the start of the document that this new will supersedes any and all previous wills. The new will should of course state a date, and once signed by you and witnessed the old will is now officially not valid.
Are you in contact with the person who is stated to distribute your assets in Thailand on your death? Perhaps you should give this person a simple letter saying that your will is now cancelled and ask that person to sign your copy to confirm having received your letter.

The Chinese people have been told by the airline liaison that they have to pay for their ticket. What will happen if they don't??? The airline liaison has the job to put pressure on denied foreigners to come up with a cash solution. They don't always present ALL the real options to the foreigner.
Are you sure you spoke to someone from Royal Jordanian? Or did you speak to the airline liaison who is arranging your booking? The guys down there in the detention centre don't actually work for the airlines. They deal with denied foreigners like you and me and follow the tone set by the Immigration Officers there.
The guard knows nothing at all. Disregard the guard. Minimum wage worker.
There is little you can do. You are detained. I detailed your options earlier today. Pester the airline liaison and try to get somebody to intervene on your behalf.
And maybe the Chinese are in the detention centre for a reason not the same as your case.

So what is an electoral authoritarian?
No answer...

There are 2 faces of authoritarianism. Thaksin was an electoral authoritarian while the military staged a coup and imposed harsh authoritarian methods to subdue the populace and laid out legislative activities to ensure that power is prolonged and entrenched with the military. This is a deepening of authoritarianism with no end in sight as long as the constitution remain unchallenged. You can make up your mind which is more damaging and dangerous to Thai society, image and possibly economics.
So what is an electoral authoritarian?

If you are suggesting that thakins' goal is to stop miltiarism / authororitarianism then you get the annual award for silliest / most inaccurate / most divisive / most ironic comment.
In terms of democracy he's commented several times that democracy was not his goal etc.
I add... you say stop authoritarianism, so having the police under his control, doing his bidding, and making the police frightened, and using chalerm to frighten society in many ways him is stopping authoritarianism?

The military dictating politics were all written in the charter, 20 years strategy plan that laid serious charges to those opposing, their refusal to cancel the law on extra judiciary detention and retaining the same ministers in Interior and Defence. You do need a new pair of bifocal.
Nice try on Thaksin quote and taking it out of context. Let me put the whole comment and let other decide.
“Democracy is a good and beautiful thing, but it’s not the ultimate goal as far as administering the country is concerned,” he said. “Democracy is just a tool, not our goal. The goal is to give people a good lifestyle, happiness and national progress.”
As always el, when you can't reply you flood your response with diversion etc.
Re the paymaster and democracy, your comment (which I doubt is accurate) is really no different to mine'. And your comment doesn't change the fact he didn't support the building of democracy, in fact he destroyed it and his sister did the same.

Love or hate him; he is the only person who can seriously challenge the elites and military bloc. They will be losing sleep to know that he has not given up after 2 coups, much indoctrination and intimidation of his supporters, buying up his politicians and countless legal charges of his family to keep him silent. His party still win big in previous election and could have form the government if not for some skullduggery by the junta and the betrayal of the usual political party suspects. FFP seem to be a revelation but on their own, they may not have the political incumbency and grassroots support to go against the junta. In my view, Thaksin is much needed to impede militarism authoritarianism disguised as democracy from dominating Thailand for a long period.

That is what mobile cameras are useful for. Show the impossible.
My son had already taken photos of everything. The farang rude manager refused to look or even acknowledge my son. As he was leaving a senior Thai lady from accounting had arrive, my son showed her the photos etc., and told her 'I will move my daughter to another hospital now and I want a detailed letter including details of the wrong medication to take to the next hospital, and I will not be paying your hospital 1 Baht'.
If you don't cooperate I will call the police and he showed the name card of a fairly senior cop he knows from his kids school.
He then told the acct. lady If I don't get 2 letters within 30 minutes (Med. report to take to the next hospital and a letter to indicate all charges have been cancelled) then I will call this policeman.
She arrived back in 30 minutes but my son refused to accept the med. report because it cleverly avoided any mention of the wrong meds. Son said write it again and mention ..... wrong medicine... . She went away and came back in about 15 minutes with the letter my son had asked for but no signature.
Son said 'I want the letter signed and the name of the person signing and their job title'. Acct. lady returned 20 minutes later with the GM, who was less then polite or cooperative.
The GM said to my son 'why do you come here and make problems when you can't speak English?' Son responded I speak advanced English, I was educated in Singapore.
GM signed and fled.

He has had his time in the limelight. He needs to step away from politics. His continued involvement is actually harming the country. He is continuing to give those rabid anti-Thaksin voters something to continue screaming about. With him out of the picture, along with some of the yellow shirt leaders, perhaps divisions could start to be healed. The Junta has done eff all in this regard, despite them claiming it as one of their goals. If anything the country is more divided than ever.
And then I woke up.
Woke up to the fact you deliberately didn't mention the red shirt leaders?

I use the LINE application on my Apple desktop, but I'm pretty sure there's also a Windows version. Download the appropriate version, and log into you LINE account in the application on your desktop. I'm not sure if it will automatically synchronize all you old messages and photos. It's been quite a few years since I did this process.
If your old photos are not automatically shown in your desktop account, then you may have to download them on your phone and use another method (email?) to get them to your desktop.
If they do show up, then you are given the option to Download or Keep each photo. LINE only keeps them available for a limited time and after that I'm not sure how to recover them.
Happy archiving!
Same, I have LINe on my phone and on my notebook, easy to install and automatically various options to save photos etc.
If I go to another country where it's not so easy to use LINe on your mobile to call home to Thailand (or anywhere), then so easy to use it (as a phone) on your notebook. Used it many times like this.

"...employed in the IT industry..."
There are thousands of qualified and experienced Thai people in pretty much all aspects of the 'IT industry'.
Unless you have rare deep knowledge and deep insightful experience in something very specific and very valuable, then...
Keep in mind that 'Unless you have rare deep knowledge and deep insightful experience in something very specific and very valuable' then why would a Thai give you a job where you cannot communicate well with other staff or with Thai clients, and make Thai employees angry / annoyed?
If the employer did employ you then you probably want more salary than typical Thai employees are paid. So why would the employer unnecessarily pay higher (higher operating costs)? And again piss off the Thai employees?
And unless you have rare deep knowledge and deep insightful experience in something very specific and very valuable, why would the Thai empoyer spend time on work permit stuff, etc?
