  1. True. 2 weekly / 4 weekly pay cycle is optional. Sorry if I caused some confusion.
  2. Agreed, please read my repost (first posted about 2hrs ago): For the ex Navy guy there's probably 2 options: 1. The Service Pension, administered by the DVA (in reality the qualifying requirements etc., are 99% the same as the OAP and that includes the return to Oz for 2 years to gain portability (receive the payments anywhere in the world) for life. This is administered by the DVA Hobart office (DVA International office). Give them a call, very friendly and helpful officers, always clear answers. They don't bite. But note all calls are recorded so be careful what you say. DVA don't have free number. Their website opening page gives their telephone number (in Oz) and their email contact address. 2. The OAP, look through the Centrelink online Fact Sheets, that will quickly prove the OAP is available abroad (after the return to Oz for 2 years to gain portability, if the person meets the qualifying requirements). I did this as have many others now resident here in Thailand and in other countries. For pensioners living abroad payments are on the 4 weekly cycle. I received my 4 weekly payment about 2 hours ago into my K Bank savings account. Already been receiving 4 weekly payments into my K Bank savings account for about 5 years. For more details don't hesitate to call Centrelink on their toll free number from Thailand. The free call number from Thailand is: Thailand 001 800 611 4136 This will connect you to Centrelink in Hobart (Centrelink international office) Don't hesitate to call, they don't bite. But note all calls are recorded so be careful what you say.

  4. Further, this means that there's many people occupying minister positions, very senior operational positions and positions at all levels who have little or no knowledge, and no capability or valuable experience in that position / subject. Further, this also means there's much less chance of innovation or serious valuable improvements. All of this is the reverse in Singapore; the very best people occupy all the ministerial positions and the senior positions in ministries and the positive results are obvious. Re Thailand the most obvious negative example is the PM, she has no capability and it shows; she's lost. Thailand suffers.
  5. True. No connection. The Thai Social Security Act in English is at this website: https://www.mol.go.th/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/07/social_security_act_2533_sso_1.pdf Section 39 is the relevant section.
  6. And approval for Permanent Residency is not automatic, a high % of applicants are rejected. On a different angle Social Security membership / benefits are NOT automatic because of having Permanent Residence.
  7. Don't assume that NGO organizations or gov't offices / ministries / agencies are fully informed / are experts re visas and work permits, they aren't. But that doesn't stop them from making statements on such subjects, usually wrong. My own example, during the process to get my Thai Social Security (SSO) Injury and SIckness benefits continued after I retired. I showed them my pink Thai ID card. SSO regional senior asked how I got the pink card. I responded ' because i have Thai Permanent Residence'. He responded 'there's no such thing so this card is a fake.
  8. You're getting desperate, trying to talk up another assassination attempt. Trump is losing votes in very big numbers, he can't get a big crown and resorts to playing music for 30+ minutes.
  9. -Who is organizing the classes? -Are they being paid to organize the classes? -Are the classes organized by existing levels of capability? -Who 'recruits' the students? -Is the 'teacher' qualified? -Is there are progressive testing? -Who provides/pays for books / materials used?
  10. Should be very easy on screen but AA is determined to not communicate with customers. My only suggestion is to go to Buriram airport at a check-in time and ask the check-in staff. They should know the policy on this.
  11. WOW, There's ample evidence he knew there was a violent riot going on and people were being hurt and ne knew there was raged comments about hanging the VP and more. But he sat in the oval office watching all of this on TV and did nothing even though many senior staff begged him to act. He's complicit, as sure as Saturday follows Friday.
  12. And it becomes more obvious every day that she's lost and the immediate team around her are lost.
  13. Bold not appropriate. Is this a nasty threat on someone's life? Is that allowed? What about some logical substantive discussion?
  14. Musk, in my opinion is a genius, and he's also crazy and capable of some dangerous stuff. I hope there's legal controls which stop him from unlimited financial support for trump. X been off my radar for some time.
  15. Plus an attitude of 'I'm a politician, so I'm allowed to do whatever makes me happy'.
  16. Back to reality, there should be age limits, at around 75 years old must resign / must be turfed out, plus limits on total years in the job, perhaps 15 years.
  17. We get several versions of the RT channels on our TV service AIS Play. Many are in English. I sometimes watch for a while, and sometimes pick up items I was unaware of and I don't disagree. And sometimes shocked at the attitudes on display.
  18. The last two lines confuse the situation (educated pedestrians need to be educated again or should not be so disrespectful by forcing drivers to stop) , this is not what is required by Thai law and in most other countries. Thailand is the same as 99% - 100% of countries; drivers must stop and all drivers on the roads know when there's a zebra crossing coming up (signs on the side of the road and overhead signs). Pedestrians need to cross roads and pedestrians have rights to cross with safety, and drivers must respect pedestrians rights. Just 2 examples; Japan and Australia, there's cctv everywhere, if you don't stop you will be tracked down and the punishments are severe, very big fines and automatic loss of license. I'm aware of one Brit guy driving in Osaka, Japan and drunk (had a license acceptable in Japan). He was held and deported the next day, never allowed to enter Japan again. He was from my company. The company received an order to within 48 hrs gather all foreign employees (about 30 engineers) for a lecture in English about driving laws in Japan. After the lecture the Japanese CEO spoke (good English), he was furious that the name of the company had appeared in the news along with the details of a foreigner caught drunk driving. He ordered that all foreigners have US$100 deducted from their next pay and paid to a charity. My own Japanese staff gathered together and asked me to promise that I would never drive after drinking and they gave me a list of my staff members (about 10) and photos and mobile numbers. I was asked to promise I would call someone on the list if I had more than one drink. I did socialise with my staff and the other foreigners but I never had even 1 drink after that. In Australia traffic fines are very severe, I'm aware of a lady being stopped for erratic driving, she was drunk, she was fined heavily and license suspended for 6 months. Later, she was with her husband, husband stopped at a mini mart but had to walk a short distance to the shop. The road had a strong slant. This was about 3 months into the wives license suspension. Suddenly many of the parked cars departed so the wife moved herself over to the drivers seat, released the hand brake and let the car roll down the hill twenty+ metres. A police cruiser with hi-tech spotted the car number plate and the police stopped and asked for her license and quickly discovered her license was suspended. An hour later she was in front of a magistrate who said 'you can spend the remaining 3 months of your suspension in jail plus an extra 30 days in jail'.
  19. Good point, and I guess it could be either way. I do recall the senior officer at the Chiang Mai amphur officer telling the other officers, speaking in Thai and in perfect English, 'his card should show cheewit because he has PR'. Bottom line, whatever the rule there's no need for renewal.
  20. What worries me is what games they will use to try to stop finalizing the election / prevent announcing the proven winner.
  21. Wow, you're rather bossy. Have you ever asked what her desires are in a man?
  22. 2 hours ago, bigt3116 said: I'm not knowledgeable about that item. Suggestions: 1 Call 1506 the SSF Hotline and check, use the English option. 2. Check the SSF Act section 39. As follows: Section 39.[1] Any person who is an insured person under section 33, has paid contribution for a period of not less than twelve months and, subsequently ceases to be insured person in pursuance of section 38(2), if such person wishes to continually be insured person, he or she shall, within six months from the date of his or her termination to be insured person, notify his or her statement to the Office according to the regulations prescribed by the Secretary – General. Perhaps better to read point 2 above before calling the 1506 Hotline - Note the twelve months details. - Also note after retirement and receiving the savings payout a member has six months to decide if they wish to continue their Injury and Sickness benefits and pay direct to the SSF 432Baht a month member contribution. This can continue until death. - Also note after retirement and receiving the savings payout a member has six months to decide if they wish to continue their Injury and Sickness benefits. More details on this in my post above earlier today in this thread.
