  1. Could be a win for the fake Thai ID industry. When my Thai son was at uni he told me many times other, known to be untrustworthy, many known to be deeply in debt for football gambling, were approaching students trying to sell them fake cards. One time an untrustworthy student asked to see my son's Thai ID card, son refused, son was concerned the fake ID seller wanted to copy son's obvious western family name.
  2. My error and thanks for the education. Should have written nonflammable.
  3. Is there an emoji to indicate 'boring'.
  4. Should be law that seats and in fact all internal materials, wall coverings, framework are inflammable. Surely not difficult.
  5. Yes I am interested, six months from now I need to renew my Aussie passport so need special photos, therefore special photos shop, thanks
  6. From above: " was also surprised to see that using my Kasikorn debit card I can just touch it on the receptacles in places like McDonald’s and 7-Eleven and pay direct from my bank. Uber taxi from my bank too, I think you could live cashless here quite easily". I noticed in Australia quite a few men had their card in their shirt pocket, usually buttoned up. They lean towards the bank machine in the shop where are buying whatever and listen for a quick sound indicating their transaction has completed.
  7. My Thai nephew has a Txxxxx sedan, now 26 years old, he renews the road tax every year and gets a new sticker. The shop that does the check (next door to the road tax office) looks at the tires and that's all. There's been posts here on AN before saying that there's a max. age, nephew is aware of that, it's never been mentioned in the vehicle check shop or in the road tax renewal office. I should mention, he devoted a lot of time and resources to keeping his 26 years old Txxxxx in excellent condition.
  8. You defeat your own argument: No cash in pocket is about equal to internet down. And some ATMs need to have an internet connection to be able to process / dispense your cash.
  9. Accepted by ... (hopefully for submission to renew Australian passport).
  10. Lots of valuable background info / specs. Back to the OP, any recommendations of shops in Chiang Mai for photos for renewal of Australian passport? Thanks.
  11. How sad, the only person in Thailand who cannot use scan to make a payment and the only person in Thailand who cannot use LINE (you should try again, using LINE will save you on telephone calls, can be free on LINE to anywhere in the world, also easy to do video chat also can be free to anywhere in the world).
  12. Wow, that's an unrealistic stretch.
  13. Further point, did she actually write or contribute specific text for this book? No it's not.
  14. I have a question, did she fly economy, premium economy, business or first?
  15. Allowrie is an old OZ / NZ brand. I bought many of their products from supermarkets in Singapore for years. Always good quality.
  16. From above: "As for checking the fleet as I stated elsewhere this will mean over 200 buses checked per day and this is only the gas conversions. What about all the diesel buses? All in 60 days?" Given the tragedy which has just occurred seems to me that the appropriate ministry / ministries need to urgently / very urgently update their checking requirements and how the checking is done and create some new methodologies including monitoring of these checks and install a system whereby the checks are more frequent and cannot be performed by the same 'checking agent' more than once in a 5 year period. In other words a solid rework of the process, plus an independent committee which seriously / strictly / deeply rechecks all the required items, Plus much more serious legal processed and much bigger fined and any person caught not doing their job properly instant jail for 5 years and banned from any further employment ver with any gov't agency.
  17. Wow, a new subject, great news.
  18. Not totally true. My Thai son, his Thai wife and his 4 kids love it. Years ago my Thai son gave his Thai mother in a piece of toast with Vegemite, now she asks or it along with the fresh hilltribe coffee we make for her (she previously always drank 3 in 1). We bought her a jar of Vegemite to take home to Tak. She's the village chief, she buys local bread, slices it, toasts it and adds Vegemite, the kids in the village love it / ask for it. Sure it's not for everybody.
  19. Also keep in mind the passport officer on arrival might be friendly and guided by the fact the lady does have a tourist visa. On the other hand passport officer might be an ahxxx and cause difficulties. I took a team of Thai MBA students to an international by invitation business competition in Austin Texas Al l were late twenties to early thirties, all had studied before in the US, all had a visa issued at the BKK embassy in relation to their competition, all had personal letters of invitation and letters of recommendation. On arrival at the airport I went first and the passpot lady was pleasant and welcoming. Next was a Thai female member of the team and, the passport woman instantly became the dragon from hell, she was rude and insulting to every one of the tem of students.
  20. What worries me is what clown show / lies Trump will create to try to convince all he was robbed.
  21. Yeah, make it a rule that a couple of weeks late is OK, then after 12 months add another '2 weeks late after the first 2 weeks late is OK (total 4 weeks). But if that happens there's thousands of items with deadline dates, they should all get a 2 weeks late is OK allowance.
  22. He's trying to keep them honest. Ultimately A worthy activity.
