  1. I would imagine it would be a regional thing. Those that said they'd never seen it possibly come from more developed areas and bigger towns. I think that it was a time-line thing, if you weren't here at the time, you wouldn't have seen it. It was very common in Bangkok in the 90s, so not regional. It did appear however to be a practice of Isaarn migrant workers and not the locals. Ladies used to attach their loose bus fare to their clothes with an elastic band.
  2. Google maps show it as open. Opening hours are 10am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  3. It was always 3 Baht, as that was the cost on the songthaew at the time when this was fashionable. No mystery, it was simply a way of keeping their bus fare.
  4. If you are looking for an alternative, I believe that Yalla is still streaming live matches. https://live.shoot-yalla.tv/
  5. I'm confused about this. What are they being stolen for, what is their use apart from in an emergency. Who is buying these and for what purpose?
  6. So you would openly welcome these cretins when they jump around (uninvited) on the roof of your house. You think that it's cool to invade someone's right to privacy in their own domicile? Maybe being a 'Grumpy Old <deleted>' gives me morals that you obviously do not possess.
  7. These idiots were climbing onto the roofs of other people's 'private' properties without the owner's permission and without even advising the home owners that they would be on their properties. A night in the cells for these cretins would have worked much better than fist bumps. After release, they should then be handed over to immigration for working without a visa. ????
  8. Maybe if you had taken a kicking or two at school you would have also learned some manners. Don't you know that it's rude to talk back to your superiors?
  9. Are you absolutely barking??? KannikaP is a world renowned expert on 'putting lots of round things into a room'. He has a master's first class from Cambridge for 'object placement'. The only blot on his career was when he tried to fill St Paul's Cathedral with billiard balls, it was a step too far. Furthermore, KannikaP's comment was not a slur on these talented room fillers, he was referring to the method that these guys were using to fill the room with round objects. Some would place the round objects in the room, some would toss the spheres into the room, some would do both. KannikaP was very accurate in calling these guys absolute tossers.
  10. Oh for God's sake, we are talking about a clip round the ear. Has society really gotten so soft that we are punishing teachers for doing what has been done from the beginning of time? Have we forgotten the meaning of 'spare the rod and spoil the child'. I would be more concerned of why a student had his/her phone out during lesson time.
  11. Careful of that blood pressure problem, you're winding yourself us again.
  12. it's off topic. Why, because you said so? I was only pointing out a flaw in the 'ignore' function, it was not a personal attack on you.
  13. So you ignore him but then can't resist peeking? Why bother putting him on ignore in the first place, it means that you suffer not knowing what is said but he carries on as normal, oblivious to your silent protest. Not a wise move really.
  14. How was you able to read his post if you had him on ignore?
  15. The warning shouldn't be just for children. The amount of Thai women who have ignored my warnings of "don't put that in your mouth, it will expand" is quite shocking.
  16. Sod it, I will just get an extra original med cert, it's not worth the hassle to under estimate the amount of paperwork that my local Dave Lee Travis requires. I get the feeling that the discrepancies will not be just between different DLT offices but also between each member of staff.
  17. P.S., Thank you all for your feedback. I think that I will manage ok now.
  18. Given the inconsistencies between each DLT center, I will take the originals and 2 copies of the Yellow book, My Thai ID card and my work permit. Pretty sure that these will cover all eventualities.
  19. Thanks Richard. Would I be correct in presuming that the yellow book can be used instead of the Certificate of Address?
  20. I am due to renew my 5 year Thai driving licenses again and as it has been 6 years since I last carried out this procedure and given the changes since my last renewal, I am after some feedback from someone who has carried out the renewal of both the motorcycle & car licenses at the same time. As motorcycle & car licenses are separate (with different license numbers) and as I am renewing the 2 licenses with different license numbers, do I need 2 separate ‘original’ medical certificates, or would one original and one photocopy suffice? Anything else that I should be aware of?
  21. Just asked the woman in Waterstones if Prince Harry’s book is available to download. She said ‘do you want the PDF file?’ I said no, that’s his uncle.
  22. I must say that I feel that the truck driver handled the police situation very badly. He should have clutched his chest and feigned a heart attack.
  23. Foodland have them as well. I don't really like their own brand version but the M.R.N version is a decent crust. I keep about 10 in my freezer , so I can knock up a few unplanned pizzas at a moments notice.
  24. Maybe you misheard him and he was was stating that the nearby nosy supergrass was out of order.
