Another with the same weird fixation. Would the course of action you are suggesting, have any effect on incidents like this ? No it would not , so give it a rest for gods sake I saw a car the other day with a sticker on it saying " my other car is a porsche" should the owner be fully investigated and prosecuted if his other car is not actually a Porsche ?

Hung out to dry, or worse ! he could have been lynched, It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened Nobody commenting on his actions has ever been in the same situation, and as such , nobody has any idea how they would actually react if it was them in his position. Once it was obvious that there was no chance of getting anybody else out alive how many on here would relish the prospect of simply standing there listening to the screams of those being burnt to death Its very easy to make scathing comments about his behaviour from behind ones keyboard, This thread, at first glance, appears to be populated nearly exclusively by self proclaimed, have a go, dare devil heroes, I think the reality is somewhat different to be honest

sugar and spice and all things nice ? Everybody , except you it seems, knows what she is made from, and it is what, or rather more importantly , who, she is made from that has got her to where she is. If you are expecting a spark of genius or any sort of departure from the norm you are going to be bitterly disappointed

I only have to look in the local Lotus to see how this practice often doesn't work out too well. A good example being foreign butter. different brands appear regularly often priced at around 185-200 baht for a 250g pack. It generally remains on the shelves untouched , often for months, then as it approaches the best before date the price is reduced rapidly. It invariably ends up at around 90 baht which is a similar price to the totally revolting local "allowrie" offering, I often wonder how they sell any of that "allowrie" stuff at all

If people are so attached to "luxuries" like Spam and Vegemite and are willing to pay stupid money for them , then this sort of thing will just continue.

The website you visited and posted the link to does actually have an english language option, but personally I would not waste my time , effort , or money by getting involved. Your wife is probably saying nothing because she knows nothing. They don't make much money on rice, most of then have no idea, The costs of producing it can be quite high too, which again few of them know much about as they rarely keep track of the expenses involved , Ie cost of fertiliser and irrigation if necessary. If you get involved it is likely that these costs will suddenly and magically increase dramatically, If you really have no idea about this or any other business you would be best advised to stay well away

Vehicle Inspector Reassigned Amid Deadly School Bus Fire Probe
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Although that depends on identifying a suitable scapegoat to pin the blame on. One thing is for sure , this will not be allowed to reflect badly on the minister for transport or any others of similar status -

2.68 trillion baht !! I bet that is at least twice the actual cost, Every one of those involved will be expecting a slice of the cake and few will be disappointed -

This also highlights the various "opportunities" available and goes some way to explaining why "Transport Minister" is one of the most sought after jobs in government -

Prime Minister in Tears Over Tragic Bangkok School Bus Fire
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I doubt she has any idea whatsoever as to what her responsibilities are. she has no experience in government at all. I think we can expect to see tears regularly from her, not unexpected behaviour from a spoilt little rich girl. Especially one who has been gifted a job that is well beyond the level of her incompetence. Not to worry Daddy will fix it -

Prime Minister in Tears Over Tragic Bangkok School Bus Fire

Those words should have been coming out of somebody's mouth 50 years ago and followed up with legislation that was enforced, if indeed anybody really cared, clearly they don't. -
Prime Minister in Tears Over Tragic Bangkok School Bus Fire
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nailed it, Its all a performance, looks good for the cameras, and reduces the chances of her being asked too many awkward questions, the expected behaviour of a spoilt little girl who has found herself totally out of her depth, She is crying for daddy to come and make it all go away. Equally nauseating is the arrival en-masse of the white uniformed elite at the hospital brandishing their wicker baskets of "brand" with their faux messages of sympathy Kids and adults are dying everyday in road accidents here, often as a direct result of governmental inaction or corruption, if her tears and the sympathies of the elite were genuine and heartfelt she would be crying every single day , and there would be a full time job for the white uniformed "brand" bearing professional sympathisers. Their reactions and public shows of concern and sadness, are, as usual, directly proportional to the heightened media coverage of this incident, What about all the others who die in traffic or any other accidents every day were government negligence is a factor? presumably their lives don't matter to the same degree? -

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
To think Great Britain once virtually ruled the world with its empire, and now it is reduced to skimming money off the elderly, Whilst its socialist leaders shamelessly trouser hundreds of thousands of pounds in freebies Where did it all go wrong? -
Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm no expert by any means , but a previous poster uploaded this ..... Sanctionable benefits The following benefits can be reduced or stopped if you commit benefit fraud: Carer’s Allowance Employment and Support Allowance Housing Benefit Incapacity Benefit Income Support Industrial Death Benefit Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit Industrial Injuries Reduced Earnings Allowance Industrial Injuries Retirement Allowance Industrial Injuries Unemployability Supplement Jobseeker’s Allowance Severe Disablement Allowance Pension Credit Universal Credit War Disablement Pension War Widow’s Pension War Pension Unemployability Supplement War Pension Allowance for Lower Standard of Occupation Widowed Mother’s/Parent’s Allowance Working Tax Credit I am hoping, that, if you are correct, and I have no reason doubt that you are, in saying that the state pension is classed as a "benefit" Just maybe as per the above list, the state pension is not classed as a "sanctionable" benefit To be honest I don't have a clue anymore -
Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
but the end of the letter states...."lf you are receiving benefits and the amount you have been overpaid has not been repaid within one month of the date of this letter deductions from your benefit will be taken to repay this. So that reads to me that if the person has not settled the over payment of any pension payments and associated fine within a month, they can seek to recover money by reducing their benefits ,( if they are receiving any) however not from their pension -

The majority of the media is indeed left wing as are the majority of those employed in education, primary , secondary and tertiary have all been infected. In fact so has anybody who spends most of their time in a protected environment. Those of us living in the real world do not have time for such luxuries -
