  1. rent a car and drive there. about 7 hours. you would need a car in Krabi because there are so many nice places to visit.

    Hahaha

    More like 10-12 hours

    MIN

    it takes me 9 +hours phuket-Hua Hin

You could take the bus to Hat yai an get off or the bus direct to Krabi ( am sure there is one)

Yes... so Hua Hin to Phuket 9 hrs... Krabi is 3ish hours closer so 7 hours is about right.

  2. I hear what you're saying about maybe nothing will change, but if I stay silent for sure nothing's gonna change.

I think you've been here for a while. Have you ever noticed that anything changed when you advised a Thai something for his own improvement?

Seat belt awareness, sun damage awareness, hazards of drinking lao khao, unhealthiness of palm oil, importance of saving for a rainy day and having goals, importance of education, hazards of drinking rain water, importance of wearing protective equipment when applying pesticides & herbicides, conserving plastic bags, turning off engine at long traffic lights, reducing litter would be examples I can cite from personal observation and experience.

WOW! Talk about effective education and retention... these things took decades in North America. Any idea on the techniques used? Could you implore those who were able to raise awareness so effectively to consider volunteering for the UN - they need help all over Asia, Africa and South/Central America in bringing these messages to the people!! Truly remarkable.

  3. Contracted a form of psoriasis on my scalp, never went there again, bought my own clippers and the wife now takes care of everything.

Straight over the top and wipe with a rag for shine, job done ! biggrin.png

Psoriasis was cleared with a steriod cream.

I have no idea who diagnosed psoriasis for you, but they were wrong. Psoriasis is an autoimmune system disease which cannot be contracted through any form of contact whatsoever.

  4. Call me cynical, but wouldn't this be the PERFECT cover story for a pedophile?

    Maybe I am too jaded......

    You're Welcome!! smile.png

No - that was one of my first thought as well - and I assume it was one of the authorities first thoughts... not their first time to the pedo rodeo... They would have checked his background before offering up the charges and verdict.

  5. Of course NOT NEW - that is an UPGRADE. Just buy same year and options (or similar) USED. This isn't rocket science...

ANY second hand car it rulet.

So when by second hand car you need to diagnose and replace the suspect, the vehicle not trusted parts.

And still have some cash in pocket for emergency replaicment.

Now i know my car and i do not "KILL" and care of car so chance it not have seriose replaicment BIGES than unknown car. And i know REAl milega on my car.

several times missed by transmission speed gearbox and brake are not pressed until the end (that I had heard in Thailand) have less resource transmission.
The traffic jam brake is holding and not switched on "N" ... etc.
I am not do with my car, but i do not know how use another car owner and many thinks you cant diagnose.

And i guess before 100k almast car can run without problem if not hard to kill car. But you do not know how use car another people.

give me car i can kill in 10 k easy and you cant its find easy diagnose and after 10-30k car start take money from pocket to pocket servicewink.png

so buy second hand car its still matter of money

if want buy simular car as you sell need add money.

This isn't rocket science but its not 2+2=4wai.gif

Of the 100 cars you have had (as you said in your OP) 80 were USED CARS... only 20 new. Can you not tell a good used car from bad with all that car-owning experience?

  6. But it is not a matter of money - you can buy another SUV (Toyota OR another brand if you are so inclined) for the same price you sell yours for.

For money i sell i cant buy any new SUV. so it matter of moneyrolleyes.gif

But ofcouse i add some money when i am ready change.

Now just look what car buy next,

And have some personality. I have not decided how often I'll be living in Thailand and Where in Thailand.

If the main place of life will be Thailand, I will spend more money to buy a car. if not then add a few hundred k and buy something new (X-trail, CX-5, Everest , Accord) or import second hand WV CC, BMW X3,3,5 , MB c, E, Harrier , IS etcwai.gif

Of course NOT NEW - that is an UPGRADE. Just buy same year and options (or similar) USED. This isn't rocket science...

  7. OP. Please cut your losses, sell the lemon and buy another SUV (try sitting in the back seat BEFORE you buy) for the same price. Why complain when it is so easy to fix?

    I am not realy complain.

if you can see i am with humor talk about this situation.

    I just share my impressions.

    I give an assessment vehicle.

And yes i am now look what car i am by next.

    and because I'm not rich
I can not so fast to change cars.
    If I be rich:
1 I not stay in Thailand( thailan for VERY rich o for poor people, i am poor)
2 I am not buy This type of carrolleyes.gif
    wai.gif

But it is not a matter of money - you can buy another SUV (Toyota OR another brand if you are so inclined) for the same price you sell yours for.

  8. Those whose heart strings are pulled by the plight of this young child should reflect on the millions of children in similar situations, should they all be smuggled in Merkel style. If the child turns out to be what is termed a 'grappling hook' baby and family members are waiting in the wings to join the child then the cynicism of such a move takes the breath away. The press will of course have moved on long before any such reunion takes place.

I guess the 'grappling hook" is reserved for immigrants past... White european immigrant families to North America used this "hook" quite effectively...

  9. If I was his attorney, I'd raise the "Necessity" defense and hope for the best. American law is based on English common law and that's how I know about this - the pleading is available in both places. The outcome would solely depend on the particular judge one had. This defense is often called "The lesser of two evils" defense.

His chances might be slim, but imho it's all he has.

    -------------------------
"In English law, the defence of necessity recognises that there may be situations of such overwhelming urgency that a person must be allowed to respond by breaking the law. There have been very few cases in which this defence has succeeded, and in general terms there are very few situations where such a defence could even be applicable. The defining feature of such a defence is that the situation is not caused by another person (which would fall under either duress or self-defence) and that the accused was in genuine risk of immediate harm or danger.
For the most part crimes that could be justified as necessary are minor in nature, such as driving over the speed limit to reach medical care, or damaging property to escape a fire.
The Crown Prosecution Service has historically chosen to exercise its discretion not to prosecute those cases where it believes potential defendants have acted reasonably in all the circumstances, and as such where necessity is a strong defense."

You DO realise that he was arrested and prosecuted in FRANCE right? They use Napoleonic Law. Very different from English Common Law or US style law.

  10. At the suggestion of samuijimmy I will relate my Apple computer repair story here for Surat and Nakhon folks.

Got back from a wee vacay to Sri Lanka to discover my late 2010 MacBook Air would not start up. Dead. No nothing. After trying some DIY diagnosing including opening up the laptop to try powering up without the battery installed and trying to jump-start the Air using the jump pads on the motherboard, some web research revealed that my closest (I live in Khanom) Apple service centre was in Nakhon Si Thammarat. iService near the bus station. The tech there is a South African named Aaron. He checked out my Air and diagnosed: water damaged motherboard. iService repair price 23,000 baht for new motherboard installed. YIKES!! I can buy another used MBA late 2010 for way less than that!! But what about all my data, photos and music? My MBAs memory is 250gb solid state... how the heck do I recover my data and all?

Well research revealed that you can buy external USB enclosures for Apple SSDs. They are model-specific so you must take care that you order the correct enclosure for your SSD. Cheap as chips from China - 650 baht pop the drive off the motherboard, pop it into the enclosure and voila I have all my data back!

So as a replacement for the 5 yr old MBA I bought a less than 1 yr old Mac Mini (still under Apple warranty) for 13,500 baht. So not bad so far... I had reduced the repair bill from 23,000 to 14,150 baht and got a much newer computer in the deal.

Finally I ordered a new motherboard for my 2010 MBA off eBay for 7,500 baht and installed that. Bingo it worked again!! Now I have sold the MBA for 14,000 baht and reduced my overall expenditure to 7,650 baht!!

Moral of the story? If you have some DIY knowhow and are willing to do some research, you can often save yourself a bundle on hideously expensive Apple repairs!! I know I could have just bought the MBA motherboard for 7,500 and replaced it and kept the 5 yr old Air but I felt there was significant value in upgrading to a 2014 mini.

If anyone in Nakhon or Surat wants to ask any questions I will do my best to respond in a timely manner!!

    Happy New Year all!!

  11. 'Jewish claims'? Come again? BC is a 7th day adventist... NO organized religion has espoused the grain-storage theory.

Carson's grain storage claim is based on biblical accounts ,
And yet no organized religion has EVER claimed the pyramids were built as grain-storage buildings.

or the Op or me, so what's your point?
Yes it was you: 'The Egyptians were compulsive record keepers, our ignorance toward their history was only due to the fact that we could not read their writings... and nowhere there is any mention of these JEWISH CLAIMS.'
