Imagine how good that is going to feel once you need to start paying tax in Thailand on your WORLDWIDE income in 2025.
-
This will be the new choice for expats if the tax changes are enacted… Pay 30% tax in Thailand: - no permanent residency, and almost impossible to get citizenship - no land ownership - pay private healthcare - pay private education - 90 day reporting with ever changing rules - blackwater rivers - hot and humid all year VS Pay 30% tax in Spain, Italy, or Portugal: - permanent residency with possibility to get citizenship - land ownership - good free public healthcare - good free public education - NO 90 day reporting or ongoing threats to deny residency - NO blackwater rivers - beautiful weather 9 months of the year

Taxing worldwide income would be a game changer for all wealthy expats(most people not relying on a pension) currently residing in Thailand. Not being taxed on worldwide income is really the main benefit of Thailand for wealthy retired people, or those who have offshore business income, whom have a choice to live almost anywhere in the world. If enacted, this law would hit the Thai real estate market fairly hard as it makes the country far less attractive compared to Southern Europe and a number of other countries. TRD better think twice before they scare away a huge amount of foreigner investment and consumption.

Thailand Has Global Ambition to Become Tech Talent Hub by 2030

Thailand should setup Phuket as a ZERO tax tech hub, allowing conditional foreign tech business ownership of land just on that island. it would be a huge success. -
Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
ChasingTheSun replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Are all the extending “digital nomads” and visa-runners gonna pay income tax in thailand on their foreign earnings if they stay a day over 6 months in Thailand? Technically they would be Thailand residents for income tax purposes if they stay over 183 days in total in Thailand during a calendar year. . -

99-Year Land Lease To Foreigners Will Harm Thailand: Jatuporn
ChasingTheSun replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The banning of foreign ownership of land and the 49% foreign condo ownership rules are probably two of the smartest laws in Thailand. It keeps the land and its control for the Thai people. Western countries should also enact similar laws to protect their citizens from foreign buyers.- 119 replies

This would destroy the home-ownership dreams of Thai people. Pathetic shortsighted idea sponsored by land owners and builders. -

Canadian Tourist Robbed During Night in Pattaya Hotel

wow. You really have no clue about the pre-Canada history and the country you were born in. Re-read my post. All facts. Research it yourself and come back when you want to discuss it like an adult. The guy in the news story is either a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Indian, who happens to also hold a Canada travel document. He is by no means a Canadian, and never will be. -

Canadian Tourist Robbed During Night in Pattaya Hotel

You seem to be clueless about the history of Canada and the Americas in general. Ethnic Europeans fought and died to create all the countries in the what we now call the Americas. Prior to the Europeans arriving in the Americas, there were multiple warring, enslaving, cannibalizing, roaming tribes which were descendants of far north-east Asian(Siberian) tribes who had colonized various parts of the americas via ice bridges connecting the continents at the time. Ethnic Europeans eventually conquered the various Siberian tribes and then created all the countries of the Americas. They united and freed the Siberian tribes, ending their perpetual wars, and often provided them with distinct “reservations” that they could govern on their own. As such, Ethnic Europeans(and direct descendants of the Siberian tribes) are the only people who can be called Canadians in Canada. All others are simply foreigners who have somehow been granted a Canadian travel document such as a passport, but they are NOT Canadians. Same applies to all the other countries of the Americas. -

Taxing worldwide income regardless of when/if remitted to Thailand would probably be a total game changer for most wealthy retired expats in Thailand. If they are going to get taxed in Thailand as much as in a place like Europe, you may as well live somewhere on the Med in Europe(Spain, Portugal, Italy, France) with all the benefits of Europe. This is an example of the calculus: Pay 50k in taxes in Thailand and get NOTHING for it. VS. Pay 50k in taxes in Europe and get “free” quality healthcare, good schools, police and fire, good roads etc.
