However, no place is perfect, and we could list many downsides of the places you highlighted. indeed, Phuket does attract many more people than those other places because it’s overall attraction far outweighs its downsides.

If they are just coming for a fairly short trip and focused on diving, then Rawai is good bet. if they are coming for longer, and want to be conveniently central to do many more things, then Karon or Kamala are probably better options. Great thai food all of Phuket, so no need to worry about that.
