You will pay a high duty for anything you bring.
Dont bring sand to the beach.
What special tools are you referring to?
They have excellent tool shops here and probably at a better price than you paid for it in USA, then you will pay to ship it and pay Duty on it...........makes no sense for probably 90% of what you plan on shipping.
Cars are expensive here and there is no negotiating like in USA........HERE THEY THINK THEY ARE doing you a big favor if they give you a 5000 BHAT (150 dollar) discount.
For example, I bought a brand new 2016 Honda HRV for the equivalent of 31,000 dollars..........the same vehicle in USA would have been 26,000
Here in Thailand they give you a list of 10-15 29 cent options like floor mats, paint sealing, tint your windows and things like this rather than the larger discounts we are used to getting from dealers in USA

My S S goes into BB in N Y C .......no problem.
I have already gone to my branch of B B here and got a print out, took it to Chiang Mai Immigration to be sure it meets the requirements.
I am not due to renew until July but didn’t want to wait to last minute and find out I have a problem.
you will be fine

Having an Education Visa for 7 yrs raises Red Flags all by itself.
Probably 75% of Education Visas are because they are too young for Retirement Visas or another method to stay in country long term.
I don’t fault anyone for that but having one more than a few years is bound to raise questions......isn’t it?

Not compulsory.
What type of insurance are you referring to.
Private hospitals won’t treat you without some type of proof of payment.......insurance, then the hospital will get a Letter of Guarantee from your insurance company.
If no insurance, they will require a 50% deposit based on the estimate of your forecasted total cost.
Government hospitals are getting stricter after being burned for Billions of BHAT from expats running out on the bill.
That govt just recently formed a new agency to chase down and try collecting from deadbeats.

It never ceases to amaze me.
Some Members here MAY know the correct answer but the majority are giving you their opinion or just repeating what they read or someone told them.
When it comes to important issues, I prefer to go to the sourse.
Go to Jmmigeation and in 3 minutes you have true facts.....not opinions.

I have my Social Security (which by itself exceeds 65,000) plus 2 other monthly deposits going into Bangkok Bank N Y City.
So I printed it out and took it to Airport Immigration to show them and wait to renew time and then I find out they want something else and I have no time to address it.
Thankfully they said that will be fine but still told me to have my branch here print the statement on bank letterhead, sign it, and bring that and the bank book.
OK.....easy enough and glad I asked because I would have just brought the bank book and wold have had to make a second trip.

I am not being a cold hearted bastid or winding anyone up.
Best thing to do when diagnosed with Cancer.
Embrace it.......enjoy every day you have left.
I will never elect Radiation or Chemo.......everyone I know who tried it, end up losing the battle anyway, especially Chemo.
All chemo gets you is a significant medical cost, you are sick and throwing up every day after treatment and at best you get 2-3 months of a TERRIBLE quality of life.
Why would anyone elect that sentence of suffering.
Do whatever makes you the happiest and when it disables you, have them load you with Morphine........give the facility a DNR Do Not Rescesitate order and check out with dignity.
Your thought?

And what about people with pre existing conditions? Insurance companies going to blanket cover everyone? Doubt it. Then they would have to increase the cost so much for everyone. Are you going to see people with pec flocking to Thailand to get in on the visa insurance so they can get coverage that they normally wouldn't be able to get? And if the limits are set low, well most of those hospital visits could be covered oop anyway.

Exactly........deal with it.
The ones that come here and try living on 300 BHAT a day.......annoy me.

Don’t walk.......run and RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.
2 things you better listen to when in Thailand.
play with all the girls you desire at the bar, but NEVER and I mean NEVER get involved with one.
Meeting your love at a bar has a 99% failure rate and some of the fails are extremely bad and can be dangerous to your health.
If a Thai girl tells you anything related to Mom died, Dad died, the wate buffalo died and now Dad can’t plant his rice, Mom and Dad have no electric and I am trying to earn money to help them get electric service, or I will love you but we must send 15,000, 25,000, and I have seen guys give girls 50,000 a month for “ their parents” .
Any version of you must give me money every month, start running, as soon as the money stops she will be gone.
Never go to her village where she is from, you will pay for a BIG party in your honor, it will be very expensive, and all her broken down relatives will be there plus people that are not relatives, you will hear every sob story in the book how this poor lady needs money, look at my poor uncle, do you think you can give him 10 or 20 thousand BHAT.
You need to read a Stephen Leathers book Private Dancer then multiply that by 10.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED~!!!
Take a girl from a bar, it will end in disaster.

In USA, the lawyer must be licensed in a jurisdiction in USA.
A Will drawn up by a Thai lawyer would not be recognized in America.........I would think it would be the same for U K, Australia, Canada and every other major country, probably mostly that there is no way to verify the authenticity.

Why does everyone make such a mystery out of this?
i think it’s only the people that are here on a shoestring and don’t have the money that whine and complain about it.
To me it’s crazy.........they won’t put money in the bank but have the money and time to leave the country and play all kinds of games to avoid it.
I have complied with it for 13 yrs and never had a problem
