Buying Gold.
Tropposurfer replied to NoshowJones's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have some gold bullion as a long term stable investment, in the bank in Aussie and elsewhere here in LOS. I would not buy Thai gold myself. Note: its very important what mine and manufacturer you buy as gold manufactured in some nations does not have the purity and therefore the value as gold smelted and sold from AAA manufacturers, and if you want to move it offshore you won't get the best return on it. Thai and most Asian smelted gold is of the lesser valued bullion on the world market. The price of gold was/is rising overall, over the year and at a good rate - longer term investment wise. There's a reason the Chinese LOVE gold bullion. Partly because it is a portable wealth and can be simply picked up and taken anywhere and sold. Mostly I invested in gold mining shares (Australia), my dad was a shareholder and I saw how he made a very good profit from buying and holding shares for years e.g hundreds of percent. You can hold shares in any nation or earth, well, pretty much, and reside here and they are safe and as secure as any 'blue-chip' share can be. Do your investigating of the mining companies profiles first if this idea interests you. Shares allow you to diversify through where and what mining companies you invest in and, generally speaking looking across the decades the return is greater over a shorter period with shares than than bullion (except for the occasional spike in prices). You can buy shares through a broker, remotely from here, independently online easily enough. Bullion is a traditional, and mostly believe, stable, portable method of wealth management/investment. Diamond was one of these types of material 'object' investment strategies also. -
Putin vows to continue hitting Ukraine's power grid
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in World News
The world needs to arm Ukraine with the best anti ground-to-air missile defence systems on the planet. Every Russian ship off their coast needs to be sunk asap. That huge bridge being used to supply the Russians in southern Ukraine needs to be destroyed asap too. -

West is a 'useful idiot' for Fuentes to wheel out and speak to the millions that listen to West. Disgusting excuses for human beings. To call a nation free, and civilised which allows such hate speech, and the open display of Nazi symbols and race hatred without fear of legal sanction to be a Constitutional Right is abhorrent to any human definition of moral compass.

Get on a plane during monsoon and go lay in the sun somewhere else for a few months, or back to the balmy, cold/cool of Europe and enjoy the change in weather. That's what we do. Thailand weather is tropical ... end of story.

In Australia where a sign indicates, it is permisable to turn left on red light, after stopping, then proceeding to turn left as long traffic from the right through the green is not interfered with. This has been a Traffic Act Law in most States for a decade or more.

Appeals court halts special master review of Mar-a-Lago documents
Tropposurfer replied to Scott's topic in World News
Actually it was close to 3 years delay. And from what I watched on tv and other media there is NO delaying avenues available to Trump now. The tax are returns are already (as i write this) in the hands of the Committee Chair, and are being diligently reviewed. this review will be to assess necessity to refer for criminal indictments, and since they now hold the returns to receive applications from other agencies and interested parties who are pursuing other avenues of investigation e.g NY Attorney Generals investigations and court tabled doc's re: Trumps serialised tax fraud in NY state and NY for further action. The first judge a male who received the original request subpoena/order or whatever it was from Congress to hand over the tax returns (I can't recall his name) simply put the request/order aside and left it sitting metaphorically on his desk for nearly 3 years! Some justice system huh. I watched the US news (a few feeds and a few others independents from Aussie and other places) and its clear in the text from the Courts ruling that they have no further, zero tolerance for this, as they described 'unlawful and no-leg-to-stand-on rubbish filed by Trump to deny Congress form seeing a citizens tax returns - its a clear and simple law apparently ... The Court called out the disregard of the law. They also gave that deplorable Trump cultist Judge Cannon a total serve. I just saw a Midas Touch - Facebook feed that said Judge Cannon was just found crying in her chambers after reading the courts judgement. I think Trumps really in trouble this time. Letitia James is going for the throat and if his now released tax returns are open to her investigation Trump could be had on Rico charges which is a decades long confinement should he be found guilty and given a charge and conviction commensurate sentence. let's hope so. The conviction of that head Oath Keeper sc.mb@g yesterday also puts Trump and those around him on notice that they are now if convicted of same charges facing long years behind bars. If Gerald Ford hadn't thrown the Law out and pardoned Nixon many would not have dared to do as they have done in these recent years. -
Naithon is beautiful and there are very quiet places all around there. Surin is a busier beach but there are lots of nice quiet places to buy or rent near there between Surin and BangTao at reasonable prices. Bang Tao is too busy I think. The market is glutted and people are desperate for sales and renting so great offers are aplenty to be had. I have a home at Layan, not far from the beach on the east side of the coast road (about 4-5 minutes to Niathon). It's as quiet and green as can be with NO smoke pollution, no noisy karaoke, no loud motocy or traffic. Yes it cost more to live there to buy or rent but it is a beautiful part of the island with gorgeous beaches and every shop you can need is close by and accessible via the quieter beach road labyrinth in Bang Tao/ Boat Harbour. The airport is an easy gentle drive along the coast through Haithon to the airport too. If you're not short of a dollar and the above sounds good to you I suggest you go speak with Sandra at Ocean Worldwide Real Estate (+66 89 867 7154) and see what she can do for you.

Speaking as a thirty year practicing Masters degreed psychotherapist ... ... There is longterm gathered and collated data from across the globe (from many different medical, neurological, and front line social and drug support agencies, both - lay and professional workers) which show a causal link between early life marijuana use and onset of serious psychotic illness. This is especially the case with hydroponically grown high THC strains of weed. I'm not against people getting high but children now way. If I could smoke again as I did when I was young but without the paranoia that comes for me I would smoke it today lol ???? So I aint' no prude or control-freak about others indulging. Society and the extension of societal norms and wishes i.e. our governments, need to step up about keeping children's young developing brains from any form of intoxication. Sadly many in our society simply abrogate themselves of the sacred responsibility of caring and nurturing the children. If you're one of those parents who buys your kids alcohol then stop! I am not bashing Thailand, because many and most nations have <deleted> understanding and practises of what is actually going on as far as care of children is concerned, around drugs and most other developmental and life-long challenges .... despite all the rhetoric, edicts, rules, and legislations. No doubt what we have seen with this to-and-fro here in LOS about ganja gives us further indications of people who are either totally ignorant and thus shouldn't be speaking at all on the subject, who are being advised by, maybe very well educated people in some ways 'experts' who are dumb-as-rocks (disconnected and in their cognitive bio-psychiatric heads) when it comes to the relational and emotional issues of child drug care.

Can foreign tourists get covid vaccinations in Bangkok
Tropposurfer replied to placeholder's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
The answers as to yes have been posted well already. To the issue of vaccine brand preference if you contact the big private hospitals in BKK you'll be able to select the ones you want. Ring around and book appointments for their shots at the hospital which serves up the vaccine they're wanting before your friends arrive to save waiting longer (or at all?). -
Seasonal change is nice to experience. We do every year and it makes retuning home to LOS a greater joy. I love the tropical weather, helps keep me supple n slim. Mind you the island its not as stinking as BKK and up north east during the dry season. I practice an 'attitude of gratitude' and do my best to see how wonderful it is to be alive to be inconvenienced in my Great Master Plans haha ???? to be bothered by weather. Near death experiences tend to do that for you.

I admit to fighting the huge jaded cynicism I carry around inside me about Justice ever truly and fairly being served and weasel-politicians letting each other and their corporate masters of the hook ... Having made said admission. I'm not an American but have lived/worked in the US and have a few liberal friends (I have met lots of Republican and some extreme right Yanks in my time too what we are witnessing is the lamentable, OPEN devolution and sabotaging of the very democratic structure (as strangely as Americans make their version) that we have watched over the last 6 years. Trumpism or if I am to use its true name; fascism, has always been a strong current in the body politic of America. I, like many posters on AN want to see the instigator/s Trump and the second tier people like Stone, Bannon, Meadows, what is that idiots name who raved openly to the press about the 'Greenbay Sweep' after being arrested? ... him too. The members of the Secret Service who tried to remove Pence from the Capitol on J6, the sitting Senators e.g. Jordan, Lindsay Graham et al. It's an atypical process of neurotic pathological projection from the seditionist and treasonous right in America today that they cry conspiracy about everything vaguely related to J6, and about the civil suits against Trump himself and his Companies. Its plain to 'Blind Freddy' who listens to the facts and some of the truly amazing investigative journalism (world wide press - some independent) just how rotten and truly dangerous Trump, The Republican Party and the MAGA movement (they are now indistinguishable) are to the entire world. I hope that now with the Special Prosecutor being appointed Justice will be served and as swiftly, fairly, and rightly as can be.

New local road from Kathu to Patong to open on Father’s Day

I get its still a work in progress BUT I note the unretained embankments. Low side of the road bearing the road and traffic weight also looks to have zero structural or embankment stabilisation works. -
