  1. Personally if she's flipped out on you once already it's hardly the most auspicious of starts, I'd steer well clear and head back to the bars. At least then you can see the goods and establish a rapport (of sorts) before you move on with things.

I can't understand this internet dating thing. At least in a bar you can have a good drink and a laugh; the end result always seems to be the same. The internet thing seems to be popular with blokes who would rather say they met their hooker I mean girlfriend anywhere but in a bar....you know the type who will spend several hours convincing anyone who listens their lass is ''different'' before she skins him to the bone as they're so wrapped up in the fact she's not a bar girl, they develop a false sense of security and their guard is down.

From what I can gather, this internet dating caper is as fraught with exactly the same risks as pulling a dolly from a bar as most of these lasses seem 'too good to be true'' until the poor sap, finds out they're not what they seem or the "nice sweet "educated" lass (no kids) he's been carousing with online for the last few weeks has had more cock than Bernard Matthews (if you'll pardon the coarse turn of phrase) and has popped out more offspring than the average soi dog....usually when it's way too late and they wind up with egg all over their face....

The dating game can be fun, why not go for it in the real world?

I have met with and dated girls I meet in real life too. Hell, I just got two numbers from a pair of girls running the counter at a big bike shop yesterday.

I signed up for the dating website for the hell of it, and while I have not found a girl there I really want to date, I have made a few friends out of the ordeal and thus met their other cute friends.

It's quite easy to spot the bullshit games as well.

I have also met girls in bars like Warm Up and Riverside, a bar is a fine place to meet a girl in my opinion, as I like going to bars, drinking with friends, and listening to live rock bands, it would be nice to share this with a girlfriend. I met my last girlfriend at a salsa bar, but distance killed it for me. Personally I wouldn't want to pick up a "working" girl, but I could care less if others do.

    Back to the OP

It IS the same girl, and I have a date with her tomorrow night with her and her friends. I shall report back.

I like to say "I don't make poor life decisions, I make stories" and I am still young enough to be playing these games until I am ready to settle down again.

  2. This sounds 95% exactly the same as one story of mine. PM sent as we're not allowed to talk about names here.

But I have met quite a few girls off of TF and it's all gone fine so far. I just have not clicked with any of them.

But hell, my reading ability has sky rocketed as I am chatting with most of them in Thai, so it's a win win.

  3. Scorpion Helmet

    Cortex perferated leather jacket

    Cortex perforated leather pants

    AGV kevlar jeans

    Shit gloves

I forgot my joe rocket shoes in Vietnam.

I wear the everything but the leather pants on the way to work and leather on trips

I do have a habit of gloves and helmet only inside the city and sometimes regular jeans....

  4. I don't consider a shoddy bus system, tuk tuk drivers and red truck drivers as a mass transit system. I consider it a feeble attempt at providing mass transit.

We will need a subway or skytrain in 5-8 years, but these morons probably won't start planning on building on until 5-8 years...

Could you not see that map? It's supposed to be some kind of metro railway.

Didn't see it on my mobile, saw it now on my PC. I remember that thread from a year ago or so.

  5. "lowering the albido of the area"

Artemis, not trying to be a spelling weenie here, but what is "albido"? I looked it up, but it wasn't in my Websters. Just curious. No offense.

The town is definitely in a runaway boom phase. When you really look around inside Kad Suan Kaew mall, formerly a prestigious "shopping destination", there's a shocking amount of empty space. Just up the traffic-choked road is "Maya". Out the highway is Central Festival. Then there's Promenada. Have we reached saturation yet on malls and condos?

All these new condos means (I think) that a lot of the old ones will now get sub-let for cheap. Good for low end guys like me.

I can't believe CM will ever have a sky train or subway, and I'm OK with that. Songtaews and tuks are good for those of limited means.

I am sorry, I wrote that too fast. It should be Albedo. The Albedo is the measurement of whiteness or reflection coefficient. So White snow reflects a lot of the sun's rays and radiation back, where as black asphalt brings them in. Now, Thai's usually build with concrete and even use it in their roadways, so the albedo would actually be higher than grass trees and dirt. But trees also create water vapor through evapotranspiration which plays a large part in global or local cooling effect.

So it's a weird situation, the clear cutting of rice fields and trees to make way for concrete is actually an increase in albedo and therefore should lead to a cooling effect, but then you've taken away a large production of water vapor, thus lowering it.

  7. Supplementary vitamins and minerals. Such as after calculating what I eat daily for 2 weeks I noticed I was low on iron and calcium, so I added this into my diet, as I was gettin 200-500% of my vitamin C, there was no need for a vitamin with vitamin C.

However, I also took green tea extract, fish oil, cinnamon and some others.

  8. How much for a new lifan 250cc? I would look around for a deal on a used d-tracker 250 or CBR 250 if as you said money isn't the issue. (Don't know if you were looking to pay once or monthly)

The Lifan 250 (New) is 78,000 baht -

Then I would stretch for http://mocyc.com/market944163/kawazakidtracker250ปี08สภาพสวยรถศูนย์ปี08ทะเบียนแท as a secondhand Kawa is going to fare better than a Lifan.

  9. I always see Thais with bottles and mixers and tourists nursing a beer. Saw it again all last Monday night at warm up.

...and they bring the bottle in from outside. Not sure that's wildly different. Okay Thais tend to order more food, but in doing so they also take up more space than a dude with a beer at the bar.

If beer is the issue and places prefer to serve ice and mixers then they can just raise the price of (bottled) beer to a level where they feel it works.

Can leave the price of those beer towers the same, I can't see someone hugging one of those on their own.

Which gets subjected to a bottle charge and then they make the money up on mixers. 40B for a bucket of ice, which melts fast in Thailand.

I would also say that many Thai ladies are not impressed with how foreigners approach them or try to dance with them. American style dancing doesn't go over well here. Though funny enough girls at a Luk tung place will get crazy..

I would also like to state I am stating possible reasons why they have done this, not possible reasons to defend this action.

  10. I was diagnosed with Asthma when I was 5, we got a pet cat and it turns out I am allergic to all animals with fur and dander, to various degrees.

Cats meant a few trips to the hospital to get a needle full of adrenaline or other such substance to shock my lungs open, yay vomiting a uncontrollable shaking. In elementary school I was using a nebulizer (the machine that vaporizes liquid meds) 5 times a day. My asthma got better in High school and college but it still stuck around. until I went from 93kg to about 70 (I'm 173cm). A change is weight was like night and day and I have not had a problem even while running out doors here in Thailand. I firmly believe the healthy lifestyle helped me put my asthma into dormancy.

Part of it is because they don't know that they need to get a table by 8:30 or are even unaware about how bottle service works in this country.
