Indian Tourists Defy Trends, Boost Thai Arrivals Amid Airline Woes
It is terrible. They literally flood second road walking all over the place in large groups disrupting traffic. Thankfully they mostly stick to their own nightclubs in Pattaya... so far. In Bangkok they started letting them in Nana Plaza and nightclubs - terrible mistake which is already backfiring. (Not talking about one or two people: the other night half of B******** was Indian guys and couples. Bumping into people, knocking **** up, and just being annoying. Will not go back anytime soon.)

Indian Tourists Defy Trends, Boost Thai Arrivals Amid Airline Woes
For every X Indian tourists who spend very little money you lose a western tourist who does. Quantity is not quality. (not saying there aren't quality Indian tourists - there are - but these are not the ones coming)

Thailand Delays Tourist Entry Fee Amid Travel Concerns
They're still talking about this bull****?? If I remember correctly it was first proposed pre-Covid like 6-7 years ago. Amazing Thailand.

Thailand's Digital Baht Plan Targets Big-Spending Tourists
Temporary. The ones cashing out now will keep their gains. The ones who wait will be left with nothing eventually. Bitcoin is useless as a currency, it's just a ponzi scheme that is terrible for the environment (energy usage). It will burst, probably soon.

Thailand's Digital Baht Plan Targets Big-Spending Tourists
Another day, another fad. Yesterday it was weed (backfired), then it was Indians (backfired), now it's crypto bros (will backfire). They just don't get it: normal decent tourists don't need bs encouragement: fix the Thai baht (about 20% overvalued), cut the insane 400% tax on imported alcohol, enforce traffic laws and taxi mafia shenanigans, and they will come. Stupid campaigns like this do nothing - fix the inherent problems if you want tourists.

Fed-Up Nottingham Dad Moves Family to Thailand for New Life
Just because you made it doesn't mean anyone can. I've tried some of these and failed. Yes I was making some money, but not enough to live on. Upwork was particularly horrible as I was putting in the equivalent of a full time job searching and applying for gigs. I think the most I got paid for one was $500, and others were $100, $200, etc. The bigger projects always went to guys who have been on the platform for years. Yes, I could've stuck with it for a few years and I would get bigger gigs, but I was running out of money with dwindling passive income, and decided instead to take a real job in my home country where I made a lot more money than I ever would have from online gigs. Later on I returned to Thailand, but this time financially stable. If you can barely carve out a meager existence in Thailand - go home and get a job. You can always come back later when you're financially stable.

Wall Street to Sukhumvit: Expat’s Brutal Wake-Up Call for Dreamers in Thailand
166 pages?? You can narrow all the advice you need to one paragraph: Come with enough money invested so you have passive income, if you have more sources of income even better, avoid scams, don't fall in love with a bar girl, don't buy a house (in her name), control your drinking, avoid drugs, make and maintain a social circle of good people, avoid crazy people, don't be crazy. That's pretty much it. I do agree with one thing though: if you are already nuts, addicted, or have other serious character flaws Thailand and Pattaya in particular will amplify it. If you are sane, not broke, and can control yourself: Thailand is a single man's Disneyland.

Fed-Up Nottingham Dad Moves Family to Thailand for New Life
Sounds completely irresponsbile and stupid: they have no plan on how to make a living, he's certainly not going to be able to work as a truck driver in Thailand and YouTube doesn't pay that much. Their savings will run out a lot sooner than they think. All those YouTube losers documenting how "you can retire in Thailand on $1000/mo" are putting stupid ideas in people's heads. Yes- you may be able to survive in Thailand on that living poorly, eating poorly, and doing nothing for fun - but if you want to actually have a good quality of life you need at least triple that and even more for a family. And then you have visa (which they haven't seem to considered) - you can't just land and stay for a few months. Health insurance (or gofundme later). And kids educations: homeschooling has it's limitations. The kids won't be able to go to a Thai school (language barrier) so the only option is expensive international schools. Basically what they are planning is a young single person's getaway, but bringing the kids with. Almost sounds like this is more of a YouTube gimmick than an actual plan.

Thai Activist Proposes Sex Ban for Under-22s to Tackle HIV Surge
Technnically yes. Except you can't infect others with diabetes if you forget your pills/injection. They are coming with new stuff like PrEP injection and even complete cure though. I think it's just a matter of time before it's history, and it won't be long.

Thai Activist Proposes Sex Ban for Under-22s to Tackle HIV Surge
Another day, another idiot. Want to reduce HIV transmission rates? easy- promote condom use in the gay community and warn straight people that anal (especially the receiving end) is how you get HIV. Vaginal sex transmission is rare (1:2000 for the man, 1:1000 for the woman) - banning it (not that it'll ever work!) would accomplish nothing.

Thai Baht's Rise in Jeopardy Amid Political Uncertainty
"faces challenges"?? as the baht appreciating is a good thing?? It means less exports and less tourists - both of which are vital to the economy. The baht is at least 10-20% overvalued for absolutely no reason other than manipulation.

British Teen Claims Torture in Thailand During Georgia Court Hearing
That's another one of the negative aspects of legalizing weed and growing - Thailand is now a "hub" for smugglers. This doesn't sound like the work of a serious criminal organization - more like her her boy "Russ" probably convinced her it'll be brilliant to smuggle it and they'll live happily ever after. Now he will live happily free without her and she'll get to call jail home. Good that it gets publicity though - warn other idiots not to do it.

Thailand to Reclassify Cannabis as Controlled Substance
Flip...flop....flip....flop. Amazing Thailand. But overall this is a good thing: less tourists and in particular less tourists of the stoner variety (young, no money). Poor guys "investing" in weed shop and production gonna have a **** time though (but the doctors will be happy with their new revenue source). Now if you can just do something about the Indians it'll be great. kthxbye.

Thai Transwomen Removed from Exam for Gender Expression
Good point. If they look like a man in women's clothing no school will want to hire them anyway. It's just victim complex - they know it's impossible, but today they complain about being denied from the test, but if they passed it then they'd be complaining no one is hiring them.
-
Thai Transwomen Removed from Exam for Gender Expression
Good. Children should not be exposed to mental illness at a young age. Transgenders should be tolerated and offered the mental help they need, sure, but not encouraged. Inclusion and diversity are not goals to strive for - they are problems society is forced to cope with.

Thailand Tightens Rules for Foreign Drivers: Tests Now Mandatory
Thailand: why are foreigners not coming? Also Thailand: let's do our best to make life harder for them! Also also: this will have the exact opposite effect as foreigners will simply not bother with a Thai license and drive with their home country license and IDP, or without a license at all.

Siam Commercial Bank Predicts Limited Baht Strengthening Amid Volatile Market
Wet dream of some dictatorships for sure, but nah - not in actual reality. Not sure what you're on about but that's not happening.
-
Siam Commercial Bank Predicts Limited Baht Strengthening Amid Volatile Market
That makes no sense. If interest rates are reduced the baht will weaken (which it needs to).
-
Siam Commercial Bank Predicts Limited Baht Strengthening Amid Volatile Market
And then they cry "why are the tourists not coming". No - you didn't over do it - you did too little and now the baht is artificially strong which impedes tourism and exports.
-
Siam Commercial Bank Predicts Limited Baht Strengthening Amid Volatile Market
Temporary nonsense. Trump's economic policies might not benefit nor be favorable with other countries governments and financial institutions, but they are favorable for (the future of) the American economy, and that includes (foreign and domestic) investors. I expect record growth in the coming quarters for American exporters. As for the US Dollar being replaced by any other currencies - dream on. Ain't happening anytime soon.

Confusion Plagues Thailand's New Digital Nomad Visa, Leaving Applicants Stranded
These days you can't find a decent condo in Bangkok for less than 15k/mo. They aren't going to live in Isaan. Pattaya Jomtien can still be had for 7k, but anyone that has to worry about the rent probably shouldn't come (for their own sake - Thailand sucks if you can't afford it).
-
Confusion Plagues Thailand's New Digital Nomad Visa, Leaving Applicants Stranded
If they run out of money then they won't qualify for the visa anyway. 500k in the bank and a steady income. Most likely the problems are because they simply don't qualify for the visa so embacies are struggling to verify that they do instead of flat out rejecting them. The visa was intended to bring money into Thailand, not to provide an easy visa for people who won't spend much. But you know they will. It's just a matter of time. Thailand tends to flip-flop on things like this once they realize them (which takes a year or two).

Cambodia Outshines Thailand in Race for Chinese Tourists
I was there around 2018-2019. Did not feel threatened in any way, but Heart of Darkness seemed like a gay club. Pontoon was actually pretty good but AFAIK closed down during Covid. Not sure if/what clubs they have going now.
