I really don't understand owners that encourage staff to rip off customers. Sure, in the short term they might make more money, but in the long term customers experiencing poor treatment will not return. There's this trend going on of girls who'll gladly drink with you all night, yet give you a lame excuse if you ask to bar fine them. It already existed in some gogos before Covid - usually hotter girls who moonlighted there for extra income - but now it seems a lot more prevalent and even encouraged by owners. Again- they might make more money now on the drinks, but a guy who spent 10k baht on lady drinks to be told "I don't go with customers" is simply not going to return. Again a Bangkok problem- the average age in Pattaya is much younger. Young women now avoid Bangkok and choose other places to go work, so you're left with remainders of the same old crew who've been working for 10-20 years already. Contrary to common sense, the older she is, the more money she will demand. Not sure if this is due to more obligations and expenses, Thai society where older should be more respected, or simply delusions that she's more experienced therefore should be paid more. Probably a combination of the three. Ultimately Bangkok is no longer hospitable to this, uh, "hobby". In Pattaya now, had a girl over each night I was out. All of them were happy to come (pun intended), stayed until evening, and left with two notes and a smile. Such a different experience.

Actually yes. Many many years ago when I used to live in Texas I visited LA and met some Austin chick who moved there. She bought us the first round of the night, and I completely blacked out from that point on. I doubt it was her who spiked it - more likely someone was trying to drug her and I got it instead. What followed was a haze of blackout with random memories of talking to random people, and puking in a Taco Bell parking lot. I have no memory of this, but eventually she and her guy friend helped me back to my hotel room (as confirmed by my parents who were visiting LA with me). I woke up much much later with a raging headache that lasted for 3 days. I'm a very strong drinker and can knock out a bottle of vodka and still stand, so it's impossible I would black out from one drink, nor have I ever experienced a hangover as intense as that, so I'm 100% sure it was spiked.

They do? I'm not aware of such requirement. 🤣

Japanese tourists to flock to Thailand despite economic woes
PingRoundTheWorld replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
More like partially down the drain already. It's lost a third of it's value over the last few years. I don't think that's going to change, either. Interest rate is ridiculously low (0.1%) compared to any other country currently, and debt is 263% of GDP. The only way the Yen recovers is if either BoJ raises rates or world rates go drastically lower - neither of which are likely anytime soon. -
More lubin' for the tubin'! 💦 Sadly you're probably not wrong. Reminds me of a certain girl who slept over one morning, we banged 5 times, then she said she has to go meet a customer down the road, which is fine and all, except she declined when I offered to give her a towel so she can shower. She went there without cleaning up at all. If this sort of thing worries you, it's probably best to stick to uglier freelancers 🤣, but even then there might be some stranger's DNA left over. Pro tip: never go down on a working girl.

Pretty accurate for Bangkok gogo bars. Typical night out for some of my friends would be 9-10pm at a gogo bar, around midnight move to a nightclub, and then keep bouncing to a different club when current one closes. For Pattaya completely different: gogo bar around 11pm-midnight, stay until they close at 3am, then go to a nightclub. Personally I skip the gogos and just go straight to the clubs. Saves money, liver percentage, and sanity as an introvert self-medicating to be social.

Agreed that social media reduces supply for sure, however that does not explain the massive differences between quantities in Bangkok clubs vs Pattaya clubs. A typical club in Pattaya will have 10x times the freelancers as a typical BKK club. The only explanation is girls choose to go work in Pattaya because they have more opportunities there (also what I've been told by girls who moved to Pattaya). It doesn't matter if Bangkok has millions of girls if none of them are frequenting foreigner-oriented clubs. Sure you can still find girls, but it's a lot harder than it used to be without the curfew. I don't frequent red light areas, I stick to clubs. Back then clubs closed at 4-6am and even then there were after hours clubs with hundreds of people open until morning. Many bar girls would finish their shift at the bar/gogo and continue to party in clubs. These days in Bangkok most of them don't bother because most clubs are already closed when they finish work. In Pattaya most nights you'll see a parade of new faces after 3am as girls who finished their shift flow in.

When is a foreigner considered a local in Thailand?
PingRoundTheWorld replied to RSD1's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I'm confused. If you don't drink nor go to "pussy bars" as you put it- how and why is Pattaya a rip off? Almost everything in Pattaya is cheaper than Bangkok. If you're not interested in what Pattaya has to offer that's fair, but it has nothing to do with pricing. I was going to say the US and select few other countries are probably the only ones where immigrants can truly become locals: it is possible in countries where the majority of the population is current or past immigrant. Almost everyone in 'merica is either an immigrant, or descended from relatively recent immigrants, and as the country is comprised of all races and nationalities looks won't set you apart. -
When is a foreigner considered a local in Thailand?
PingRoundTheWorld replied to RSD1's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Reminds me of an elderly couple I met at BKK immigration. The Thai husband was in crutches and a broken leg, but they still made the trip to do 90-day report for the Malay wife. They've been married for 30 years. Never. -
Bangkok has never recovered from the Covid wet blanket curfew. Even now most nightlife venues have to close around 2-2:30 which is ridiculously early. After years of this many of the tourists are gone - some moved on to Pattaya and Phuket, others simply stopped coming. With less demand for them, many of the girls moved too. With less girls and variety even more tourists choose to shun Bangkok, and the cycle repeats. I'm writing this from my Pattaya. I used to live in Bangkok full time but I got bored with the same people and girls every night. I'd consider it a good month if I met more than a couple new girls in Bangkok. Here in Pattaya you can literally find a new girl every night, if you wanted to, the supply is endless. All of my male close friends moved to Pattaya, and I know many girls who did too. Bangkok nightlife has been dying for a long time now.

Thailand plans 50 billion baht tunnel expressway in Bangkok
PingRoundTheWorld replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Easy- they'll just print it. Who cares about inflation and currency devaluation, right?? There's a number of other questions though: 1. Why?? Is there an actual need? this isn't anywhere near central Bangkok, is there enough actual traffic congestion to warrant such a project? 2. If there is traffic - why not just build it above ground? tunnels this long cost a lot to maintain even beyond the initial cost. 3. What envelopes were passed as part of the decision-making process? 4. Is the drilling going to be outsourced to Chinese companies? was that part of the decision process? ... -
Foreign man smashes car window and tries to assault Lao man
PingRoundTheWorld replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
It doesn't matter who was right or wrong initially. The fact that the guy punched the window and tried to punch him puts him in the wrong regardless. Nationality has nothing to do with this. Speaking of punching glass - probably the dumbest thing you can do as it can injure you severely - the guy probably has some wounds and maybe even broken fingers. -
So basically two Arabs fighting over a whore? Thailand you have indeed succeeded in attracting quality tourists. Seriously though- why don't they round up those troublemakers and send them back home? there's plenty of these small-time Arabs gangs that really shouldn't be here. Sadly though the guy will probably just pay his way out of this. Unlikely he will go to jail or deported. And he'll just assault more people again in the future.

Government Curtails 10,000-Baht Handout on Tech Buys
PingRoundTheWorld replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A new day, a new joke. How exactly are they going to implement this? even if they were able to magically prevent it being used at big retailers, it'll just create a black market where small biz owners will buy using other forms of payment then resell it. Also- money is money. If someone uses 10k a month on groceries paying cash receives "digital money" even if they can't pay for a new phone with it they'll simply use the digital money to pay for food and cash to pay for the phone. 🤦♀️ -
Good. OnlyFans style "work" is one western import that should be prevented from making it here. No problem with sex work in private, but when you start paying young ladies to simply exist, things go wrong. The reason western women are so vile compared to Thais and generally Asians is that being put on a pedestal so much results in 90% of women uninterested in 90% of men. Every women no matter how ugly thinks she deserves guys who'd never be interested in her beyond sex, while ignoring guys who'd happily marry her. In the west this started with social media and followed with OF, in Thailand social media is already damaging young women, but at least OF style work isn't as prevalent, yet. On the upside- AI will make this irrelevant as realistic AI women will eventually replace real OF and make them obsolete. If and when men can make realistic characters who you could not tell aren't real, and an unlimited amount of them, it'll begin the race to the bottom. Unlimited supply, limited demand, bye Felicia.

Pattaya Arrest: Thai Woman Accused of Drugging, Robbing Tourist
PingRoundTheWorld replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'm talking about freelancers who work in nightclubs and bars and return to the same venues often. The street walkers are always a risk, in any country. -
I'm no fan of Biden, but I doubt this was all a big plan to destroy the middle class. Wages in America have been keeping with inflation for the middle class for the most part. It's the poor who are worse off. The middle class have stock holdings and retirement plans that have all benefited from the money printing. P.S. I am 100% against the Marxist b/s. I believe in strong capitalism with checks and balances. So this isn't coming from some liberal nutjob - it's just not what I'm seeing happening financially. Either way, Trump will likely win in November anyway.
