I like the rate where it is now. My coming two year's expenses are in cash invested in a one- to three-month US Treasury bond to avoid state sales taxes. The rest of the money in my Roth IRA and IRA is in VOO and other ETFs, which is giving me plenty of returns. The market wants cheap money for gains instead of the companies' profits and management.

WISE Transfers from USA
CartagenaWarlock replied to G_Money's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
For small amounts, if you use "sending money home to family," it arrives in seconds. I have been using my US credit cards and sending small amounts (10,000 baht at a time) using "sending money home to family," and it comes in seconds. -
Begging for money online to support his bar.
CartagenaWarlock replied to n00dle's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I never understood the obsession with owning a bar. You can get 10%+ in the S&P 500. Of course, running a brothel fronting as a bar where sex workers parade before prospective grooms may be more fun. -
I applaud people who share a meagre amount of their profits with agents and earn 15%+ in the S&P 500. I give no credit to anyone (or sheeples) who does it DIY as if it is their only achievement in life.

The majority of people who are overstaying are not Ukrainian. What are their excuses? -
Ukrainian Man Arrested for Overstay at Phuket Airport

I thought if one surrenders at the airport, there are only fines and no going to the immigration detention center. -
Thais have more cultural, linguistic, and genetic similarities with Chinese compared to most people who flee thousands of miles to find a decent living in foreign lands, possibly using 'wify' visas. According to Wikipedia, 11–14% of Thailand's population is considered ethnic Chinese. However, Thai linguist Theraphan Luangthongkum claims that about 40% of the Thai population has at least partial Chinese ancestry.

Where was you 20 years ago
CartagenaWarlock replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Twenty years ago, I was crisscrossing Europe, whoremongering after selling my company for three million USD. I did not know about Southeast Asia and Thailand. -
I am all for foreigners treatment in Thailand. Thai officials know exactly how to keep foreigners on leash. One-year permission to stay even with a 'wify' visa. They know there is no shortage of desperate people who can't live a decent life in their home land; hence, they have to flee their home country to find a decent living in a foreign land, often using a 'wify' visa. They don't have their voice heard anywhere except in a Farang forum where they can post all their hate for Thailand, Thais, Indians, Chinese, and now Russians. And when they steal, there will be parading. They must be reminded that they are in a foreign land because they can't have a decent living in their home land.

Chinese New Year Koh Phangan
CartagenaWarlock replied to delgarcon's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Thailand has deep Chinese and Indian connections. Thai is tonal like Chinese, and they use scripts that have roots in Indian Brahmi scripts. Thai gods and religions are mostly Hindu gods and Buddhist religions. The Thai king has Indian Brahmins perform religious ceremonies. Thai literature is full of Sanskrit and Pali words. -
People are so tensed up about this TM30 after leaving their home country to find a life in Thailand, possibly using a wify visa. Here is what I did instead of posting in this forum. I have a 10-year lease, and I come to the same address after I leave Pattaya or Thailand. I did a TM30 in 2018, and after that, I never bothered to do so. I recently wanted a residency certificate for a car or MC license and was informed my TM30 is not up-to-date. I told the agent, BS. How much do you register for TM30 again? I was informed 500 baht. I paid 500 baht and got another TM30. Everything is so easy in Thailand if willing to spend some money.
