Sean , as i live here i get a transfer done to my Thai account , but sometime i use my Amex or visa card on ATM or purchases.

Amex block my card for security raison ( I call them, they worry about Thailand ) better to keep it as purchases , not withdraw .

For Visa they charge me 2.5 % for what they call international process fees (that is for purchases or withdraw), but the rates is good same as Telex Transfer !

As you go with family, i will think cash is good, traveller cheque too, and have a visa card on emergency.

If you worry as you travel with family, you could have a relative with fund at hand if something happen and send to your embassy in Thailand !

when i went to Australia three months ago i enter laptop shop , and every swear ASUS are the best at this time ....

can anyone comment if they really are ?

I got two girls visitors last week, family friend, I try to look after them , took them to chatuchak / and some other shops, exetera !

Story :

They stay at the INDRA REGENT HOTEL !

As I was busy two nights ago, I told them they could go to : once upon a time restaurant (already bit over price, but close by and nice surrounding).

They ask the direction to go there at the hotel , the concierge told them THEY NEED a tooktuk to go there , they follow the advice , the tooktuk took them to an other restaurant , drive in , ‘welcome to Thailand’ , menu NO PRICE ! Time for the bill ( 2 girls 21 year old ) 4000 BAHT !

Well, I told them, they was lucky, only money, and the place must belong to a high official anyway, memory experience.

I Thai food but have cut back to one (two ) meals a day (I love the stuff). It's loaded with MSG, Salt, Nam Pah (salt), seasonings (salt). Ever wonder why many Thais drop dead (shown on the news) for no apparant reason? My blood pressure is horrible for my age. I'm up to 20mg enalipril. Esp with the heat, you should drink lots of water. I drink about 3L a day and thats water not beer, etc... I only drink whisky, beer and water. I would cut out soda and energy drink if you consume.

PONCHOOROOT in Thai ( MSG ) are getting me sick !

now i know some shops around my place who do not use it ( they get my business ) some already have a sign saying they do not !

i have restaurants who do not use the stuff, same as some place in farang land using chicken or beef booster and some not .

If i go somewhere, i try to ask , not to be use, many Thai already know the side effect of it , not to everyone but to some people !

Update.

I sent e-mails to both Nero and ASUS expressing my disappointment at not getting the full Nero7 bundled with the burner.

Nero said that it was up to the individual hardware manufacturer to decide what versions of Nero to supply.

ASUS replied saying they could not understand why this should be as all bundled software they include is a full working version that works forever.

To day I received another e-mail from Nero giving detailed instructions of how to get the full version. This involves not using the installation CD but downloading the program and then using my key to activate the full version.

Why bother to hand out a Nero CD when you have to disregard it and download from the internet anyway?

I have not yet tried the new way yet so cannot say it will work but I have high hopes.

I must add that the response from both Nero and ASUS have been quick efficient and helpful.

Well as I start this post , I am adding something :

For my 50 birthday I went to Sukothai buffet on Sunday!

Place is ok, food you have three type of smoked salmon / foie gras / pasta bar / lamb roast , good selection of bread , very nice cheese and nice dessert !

What I did not like is :

i order a bottle of champagne at 5500+++ baht no vintage Paul Roger, but the waiter poor it to fast and to much on the glass , like it was water ! The bottle was finish under few moment, and big smile came asking if want one other to be chill !

I really feel push to the consummation to the extreme.

We have 2 glass of red after , a pino at I think 500 baht a glass

I should have done Sukothai 7 years ago, when it was on the top of the scale, I will not be back, pretty expensive the bill was 14000 baht ( 3 people ) but was special occasion !

One of my favourite place if anyone know are : JE NGOR’S KITCHEN ( SI-PHAYA)

Next time, I will like to try the four season ( nearly same price , but I think wine include ) and landmark as I got good report !

I am curious about the best way to clean high quality feather pillows. I have several with fillings of 100% goosedown, in a fitted cotton satin cover.

Not sure if dryclean is the best way to go. Always noticed how clean the pillows are in hotels, perhaps they dryclean on a regular basis, but I have heard negative things about drycleaning pillows, not to mention being able to find a reputable drycleaner.

It is going to sound strange but I have down duck and goose ( 2 of them ) every so often i put them into the washing machine and after in the dryer ( under a zip protection bag ), evry time they come back better / lighter !

Lately i bought a LATEX pillow , fantastic .

I went to a TMB ATM in pattaya yesterday, I atempted to withdraw 2000baht using the quick cash feature, some thai message came up on the screen and no money came out, I attempted the same transaction again and the machine came up with a messagein English (which I must have missed the first time, the message said Quote - Possible Equipment error - please count cash, well there was nothing to count the cash tray did not open and I didn't get the 2 X 2000baht I had requested, the money was deducted from my account.

Any help would be appriciated and anyone that has experienced this before

Happen to me in bangkok, can heared the 8000 baht coming but nothing

was worry , money taken out the account , two days later reverse !

they must have a check inside ! i will contact the bank , but do not think you will be charge at the end !

I didn't say the food at cabbages and condoms was bad...just that it was a tourist type place...just have to see the tour buses parked in the parking lot to know that. However, the owner has done remarkably good work in spreading knowledge of the importance of safe-sex in Thailand.
