  1. I no longer have a Christmas tree. I did put one up when my children were younger since we do celebrate the idea of gift giving. The tree was not put up for any other reason than celebrating that idea, which included Christmas stockings and Santa Claus. We are a Buddhist family so our tree and our celebration of the holiday had nothing to do with the Christian religious holiday. It was more a celebration of the Winter Solstice and the end of the year. Though we no longer put up a tree or hang stockings we still celebrate with gift giving and a nice dinner. Everyone in the family still loves Santa even though he is getting old now - 78 - and moves a bit more slowly.
  2. My son works part-time at a 7/11 while attending university and he is not required to make any purchases at all. Where do you get your bigoted information? I wish all of those on this forum who continually complain about Thailand and Thai people would go back to their home countries.
  3. Having insurance doesn't justify theft. My home and vehicle are insured but that doesn't mean it's okay to steal from me.
  4. I agreed with you until you said typical Thais.
  5. What immigration and bureaucratic hassles are you experiencing? Frankly, I don't have any hassles. My life here is quite nice and I have been living here for more than three decades and have no desire to sell and move out.
  6. Wow - 25,000 baht for tires and 30,000 baht for insurance! I don't live in BKK, but if I did, I wouldn't even consider having a car. My insurance - grade A - is half yours and my vehicle is quite new. I just put new tires on my spouse's car, and they were good quality, western brand, for 12,000. BKK has good public transport and you could rent a car to get away with your dogs on the weekends for a fraction of what you are spending to own and maintain a vehicle. By the way, my electric bill last month for two houses that I built four years ago was less than 2,000. Produce where I live is very good quality. We eat Thai food about half of the time and western food the other half - mostly cooked at home.
  7. I am on the side of honest people who don't commit crimes and tell lies - their religion, if they have one, isn't a factor at all.
  8. Seems like there are lots more Chinese criminals in Thailand than Israelis.
  9. Only one Israeli was arrested, yet every day there are reports of multiple Chinese arrested for running scam operations. Why are they not banned for life and why does the government always try and promote Chinese tourists when so many of them are criminal scammers?
  10. Other than the larger highways, the roads are way too narrow - especially in rural areas.
  11. I am from Salt Lake City. I am not a Mormon. In fact, the city is predominately non-Mormon, unlike the rest of the State, and usually has a Democratic Mayor.
  12. Then he should move to a country that speaks his language. By the way, you don't have to be a Thai to be able to speak Thai, just like you don't have to be a citizen of an English-speaking country to speak English.
  13. I can tell by your question what your problem is. I am also an American, but we differ because when I chose to live here, the first thing I did was to begin to learn the language. The second thing I did was to make sure I did not become an abrasive American. It seems that you made no attempt to do either of those things.
  14. "It's like 80% of their customers." What do you mean when you say like? Do you mean that it is 80% of their customers (Not true by the way), or do you mean the same as 80% of their customers? Perhaps to need to remind yourself that you are living in a foreign country - Thailand - and learn the language of that country or go home.
  15. The language in Thailand is Thai - learn it or go away.
  16. You live in Thailand, why don't you learn to speak Thai?
  17. Do you live in Thailand? If so, why do you stay if you have such a negative view of the country and its people? You sound very unhappy.
  18. Thailand does not have proper zoning. It is desperately needed here.
  19. If you only have three days then stay in a nice hotel and enjoy the pool, spa, and restaurants - perhaps take a morning or afternoon tour around the old city.
  20. Both Phuket and Pattaya have been well-known screwdrivers for decades.
  21. Unlike alcohol, marijuana is not physically addictive. I got 100 baht that says you drink booze.
  22. Trump stands for Trump and nobody else.
  23. Why would my accounts be frozen? I have had a long-term visa for many years and do everything legally.
