  1. Stainless steel guttering. You've got to be kidding me. It will cost a fortune, weigh an incredible ammount and probably won't actually be 'stainless'.

True stainless steel is not magnetic. I've seen Thai and Chinese manufactured 'stainless steel' that is magnetic.

    Personally, I'd just use aluminium.

No not kidding! fortune? 1800 baht mtr, depends how you look at it the org. heavy steel galv. lasted 7 yrs, not sure about the aluminium can do strange thinks when in contact with blocks and cement. rolleyes.gif

  2. why stainless? they will be very expensive and impossible to paint to i assume you will leave them shiny steel colour. is that what you want?

It will be impossible to paint as its bricked into a wall, dont care if they are shiny, thats why !! re read post, cost so far approx 1800 baht mtr. rolleyes.gif

  3. Wana, you were quoting me not the op.

And thank you for calling my wife a hooker, classy, real classy.

Perhaps you would like to tell my 3 year old son that his mum is a hooker. Nice.

i appologise if the quotes were mis-quoted ,i will try and edit the post to rectify

i just wanted to say that the op claiming everyone here is lying about having not married a hooker

    is simply not true

some people may never even been married ,or married one of the 99% of other thai women in regular occupations

Workng a bar or a bank the tools are the same and all the problems.. the world over whistling.gif

  4. Has anyone done this in Sakon Nakhon?? Is the office the one down the street from MJ Hotel??

If so what would I need done in Bangkok before I return to SN to apply for Yellow Tambien Baan ??

What's that about having the passport translated to thai ???????

I really don't want to buy a car unless I have my name on it nor unless I have a license to drive it. I know this subject has been beat to death but......................

I foresee going back and forth between Sakon Nakhon and Bangkok several times to accomplish this.

The house is in my ladie's name and we have a baby girl together.

Will a 30 day passport stamp work ???

. Well No! You need to read all the posts (there are years of them) I know its time consuming but you have to do it, and why would you expect a 30 day tourist stamp to work ?

  5. I have a multi entry o visa with which I intend to apply for a retirement visa, my 90 days when I return will run out in June and I will apply in May. My question is with this multi entry retirement visa, there is a good chance that I will never be in Thailand for any of the 90 day reports.. ie lets say two months in and two months out and on my last 90 day entry stamp into Thailand I will go to renew it in the last 30 days.

Do you see any problems with this at immigration as I will never have done a 90 day report. Thanks

  6. It is an international school gig...probably teaching math/science.

Main recreation would probably be fishing. Hope to buy a boat suitable for my son and I. Would also like for us both to get diving certifications.

I really appreciate the input. I was a little concerned because there is alway talk of the expense of Phuket.

    Thanks!!!

fuel, electricity, food in grocery store, clothes and shoes, bikes and cars all cost the same in Phuket as the rest of TH

90k a month is approx what we use, 2 adults and one 4yo, one car and some bikes, owned house

and we dont live like kings or queens

I'm in the same position as you with one more child, I would really be interested in a break down of your expenses, I live very well on half that, and I eat out with the family, and drink.... you have school fees , maids, what? licklips.gif

  7. Thanks everyone for all the input. I'm headed to Phuket tomorrow and still not completely decided if I should rent or buy... both sound like decent options. If I can find a Honda dealership and get a certificate of residence quick enough, perhaps I'll just buy one. How about helmets? Are there specific stores that sell some better ones or can you just get them along with the bike?

Now you have the all the info I take it you have considered your insurance and have a motorcycle licence in your country to allow you to ride here and be insured when you have the accident

  8. Opposite Phuket Garden Hotel, in Phuket Town, small open fronted shop will repair or replace as you wait, ask them for a quote, is the problem a spring loaded clasp? if so and you never need to take it off just bend it over, thats cheaper...

  9. You can decide where and how you want your funaral arrranged.

If you die in Thailand you can be cremated at the local temple without any problems. Only if you are not married will your embassy contact your family to see how they want to proceed with your funeral (and if they are willing to pay for the repatriation of the body).

Make a will and also state your wishes regarding your funeral in it. makes it clear for everyone.

I've been to several funerals in the small village where I live. The days before the cremation have monks chanting at the family home, and through the night various undesirables appear (it's the same bunch at every funeral), who do all kinds of gambling, (and trick the locals out of their money), and eating and drinking at the bereaved family's expense. The police seem to turn a blind eye to this gambling at funerals, though I suspect, there's "tea money" to be had. Personally I hate gambling, I think it's just an excuse for fools to lose their money.

If I put in my will that i don't want gambling at my funeral, what would the consequences be for my wife (assuming I die first). I did mention this to her, but she got really upset, and made comments about did I want her to be alone all night, with my body. Any idea why she doesn't want me to specify this ?

Very common its simple at a funeral who wants to stay and eat for maybe as long as three days, the family will encourage people to stay and (sometimes will pay) as friends for the deceased until their time comes to go (ie keep them company) gambling is permitted for this reason (in some areas) by the police. Your wife wants you not to be alone when you go!!

  10. I know Thai that are educated, but I find most are still children in the way they think, and dont forget they have missed two generations of growing up, from buffalo to pickups and rice fields to the big city, and the tv soaps they watch are full of it. However my mother told me long ago that a bird in the house was bad luck, someone will die!! still troubles me even now if it happens

  11. 1. Beware the huffing and puffing of farang Thai defenders – humour them and trust your own judgement.

    2. Thai television soaps are mind numbingly dreadful, but they will inform/educate you as what it will be like should you choose to have a TGF and associate with her family.

    3. Patong to the airport is possible in 18 minutes.

    4. Never steal another man's rhubarb.

    5. Cover up on the beach – flabby sunburnt tits, ones that look like old witches leather purses or rotten apples will offend the locals and make the soi dogs howl for hours on end.

    6. Understanding Thai phrases:

"I no work bar – I only hab work cashier" - I work bar.

    (insert your own here...)

About right, not sure about No3 mind

  12. I like the American story too, does your Dad know why the Americans drive on the wrong side of the road.:D

6 years and I still get confused with the light switches.

The electric wiring in Thailand is supposed to be BLACK live and GREY neutral, the alleged electrician that did our house wiring made all GREY wire LIVE, and so again coming from the UK myself I prefer that, as it is common for older electric wiring in UK to be a BLACK neutral.:)

Im the same still have to think every time, and my biggest problem is the other wire that earth thingy, very rare is that to find
