This is Thailand. Nobody has worked out how they are going to get home yet.

The harsh reality is that people have actually had 6 months to get their affairs in order and return home. It was made clear at the beginning of the last amnesty what the options would be once it expired. There will be some genuine cases where people are struggling to get flights to certain countries but for the most part, most would have probably been able to return home by now if they tried. Most have stayed on wishful thinking that the amnesty would be extended and are now scrambling to put something together. You cant blame Thailand for that.

Come back at the end of the northern winter and we will revisit. Its well documented that most of the current end of summer infection are mostly in young people hence the lower death rate.

The Uk barely managed to contain the first wave. They never got the numbers low enough to begin effective contact tracing and isolation of infected individuals. It appears they have not learned a thing and are still woefully unprepared. It going to be slow burn genocide through the northern winter an not just for the UK.

Someone's fudging the numbers so they don't have to spend any more money. Hard to imagine just a 7.8% contraction considering the total collapse of International tourism, exports down 10% and surely there must be falls in domestic spending too.

It is a bargain compared to the 'normal' price pre-covid. 9.000 baht return - or more.
The devil will be in the detail. i interpret it if you buy a ticket it will entitle that ticket holder to 3 free additional flight to use later. I dont think you can just buy 4 tickets for a family at that price.

Thanks, found some here https://www.horizonhomes-samui.com/property-for-sale/ had a serious reality check and moved on!
Not a lot of hope of any of these selling for years to come - if ever!
Haha. Lots of reasonably priced property available on the regular property sites too.

Do you have a link to where they are listed? - I need to dream ????
Most are coming up on the Koh Samui property Facebook groups. There is a lot of them. Just do a search and join the group. Todays specials are 5 br in Taling Nam 160m, 4 br Choeng Mon for 70m and 8br in Thong Krut for 300m.
Loads of land coming on the market too.

Sadly, this is happening all over Thailand (but not being mentioned in the press).
My neighbour was told by his lawyer in Bangkok that they are struggling to cope with the amount of work that they have resolving bankruptcies.
And sadly a lot wont sell. A lot of properties have unreasonable price expectations. Its not unusual to see property on the Samui market for years and years

The number of properties coming up for sale on Samui groups is astonishing. There are literally dozens of new listings coming up every day almost a tsunami of them in the last two week. Particularly in the higher end of the market. I have seen at least a dozen in the 100 to 300 million baht range in the past week alone.

This situation won't last for long, it hasn't gone away, it's on the move, that's all that's changed.

Yet around 9 people are dying a day from COVID-19 here in the UK. The UK has between 11,000 and 28,000 influenza related deaths per year, so lets assume 20,000 deaths is a good number to run with. That equates to 54 deaths per day on average in the UK, directly related to influenza.
Yet they have had 40,000 deaths from covid in the last 6 Months which equates to approximately 220 deaths per day and the cold dark Covid winter is just beginning.

4 hours ago, Sheryl said:Unfortunately yes, many cases of foreigners becoming a burden in Thailand, especially (but not only) as regards hospital bills
This happens to just about every country in the world. Its hardly exclusive to Thailand. They published the figures last year and the reality was the cost of people failing to pay hospital bills was minuscule. You don't hear of other nations always making a flap about it all the time. Most governments probably see it as a cost of tourism. But in Thailand they always like to reinforce the negatives of foreigners coming in to the country rather than the positive.

Went to Phuket once. Minibus brakes seized just at the top of the hill right outside the tyre and brake shop. I took it as a sign from Buddha we were not welcome and haven't been back since.

Have a look at what they have done in Chewang on Samui. Put the junction boxes and transformers in the middle of the foot path. Completely blocking it in some instances
