I work with electronics and I have a multimeter and other tools. But I have no idea how to check for good earth (on rebar).
Try the Covid PCR test.

You could not possibly be more incorrect. It is called Swampy by millions. Why? It was built on reclaimed swamp land. Simple enough explanation?
The airport is on what had formerly been known as Nong Nguhao (Cobra Swamp) in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan province as well as the districts of Bang Kapi, Lat Krabang, Bang Na and Prawet in the eastern side of Bangkok. The site, known as Cobra Swamp, was drained and named Suvarnabhumi, meaning "realm of gold".
Correct me if I'm wrong but Swampy was originally also used to absorb the water coming down in rainy season in order to avoid Bkk being flood...

For the OP. Swampy is a nickname used by 3 or 4 people. It refers to a time, about 15 years ago, when people wished the airport to fail and envisaged it being invaded by snakes from nearby swamps. The airport, like so many successful construction projects, was completed under the guidance of the democratically elected leader Taksin thus another reason to mock it for people who support the military regime. BUT.. There is a VIP bus running regularly from the International Airport to Pattaya/ Jomtien and it terminates near the junction of Thapraya Rd and Threpasit Rd...a convenient place for your friends to meet you. When you arrive I hope you have a good time but do yourself a favor. Don't refer to SuvanapoonI International Airport as 'swampy'...nobody else does.
Well, well, 3 or 4 people?? I think you underestimate seriously the matter. 55555

We're all "tourists," our stays just extended for different reasons. Can you show me your Expat Visa?
Yes, and by the way PRs don't need to renew any Visa as it is stamped in their Passport : Immigrant..... Any other comments?

...agreed!...what tourist in their right mind would want to visit a country more or less next door to the origins of the virus; a country who is home to billions of bats, Mers carriers, Sars carriers etc. etc.
IMHO opinion until Asia gets its act together with food habits, presentation, markets and general food hygiene, its going to continue, as is the real risk of further new viruses emerging and more potent variants of existing known viruses.
Whaow.... Thailand is one of the only counties in the world with a close to zero rate of infected. Where did you get your info??? Reading the rest of your poetry I wonder if you have ever been anywhere in Asia or get your wisdom out of some magazine.

Yes 40 million arrivals in 2019. However how many of those were people re-entering on a one year non-o visa who had to leave the country every three months? Also people who had converted to a B visa who had to return to their homeland for the paperwork. Not forgetting many ex-pats who came and left Thailand to visit other places and/or family. Don't forget the oil workers - one month on one month off, therefore multiple entries So the 40 million arrivals does not equate to 40 million visitors.
I agree with SpiderMike that tourism was going down. I have lived here in Kata and have seen the numbers of tourists fall year on year.
With regards to future tourism it will take many years to rebuild. a lot of the 'regular' visitors here are no longer working in their own countries so that even if Thailand does open up people will not have the funds to get here..
I also agree, same here in Pattaya.

How could you possibly know???? Your wisdom and knowledge is amazing... How many days off do or did you get working, wherever you come from????

Slowly. They announced yesterday that they hope to vaccinate 70% of the population by early next year. Who knows when they'll get around to the final 30%.
Yes, maybe so, then again the rest of the world is not doing much better if not worse.....

Business was bad, but many were in survival mode until some government officials allowed migrant workers to cross the borders in exchange for bribes. With the current closure most hotels and restaurants are now without any income and the gov isn't interested in helping out in any way at all. Wanting to build bridges, buy submarines and so much more things Thailand DOES NOT NEED NOW for billions of dollars... while claiming there is not enough money to help the people.
In the meantime these same officials and politicians get paid as usual and find more rules and regulation to squeeze out more money from normal citizen.
They probably invest in infrastructure ( except for the subs), etc; Possibly because there will be a post-covid era, and Th nationals will still have to live here. With or without tourists....

No wonder Thailand has lost all its shine reading some of the posts here........ Makes me wonder why people travel, basically just exporting the misery from where they came from....... I'm so glad i saw Thailand and lots of other countries before the righteous took over....... What a sad vindictive place the world's turning into...... mixed in with rampant greed and fools backing them up........ Doing a runner from hospitals ? You try it...... Crossing any border in Thailand with as much as suspicion on your sheet and you're banged up, no questions asked......
Banged up???? Isn't that another term for being pregnant?? ????
