Thanks again for replying.
I can confirm the settings remained. Resetting and retrying with the revised settings (after rebooting) gave the same results.
I also tried putting the SIM into my phone and it connects with the EE network on Band 3 according to an app I found called Network Cell Info Lite. This ties in with an EE 4G frequency from your info above.
Here's a picture of the no name Chinese router if it helps identify it.

The provider may not offer/allow "tethering" on your current plan?
Maybe try it in your phone first, to see if you can create and share personal WiFi Hotpot.
I'd contact them.
I'm not sure I understand your response. The EE SIM connnects to the internet when it's in my new UK purchased router but not when inserted in my Thailand purchased router. To me, case one means the provider is letting me connect so in case 2 the router is causing the problem. Putting the SIM in a phone will be replicating case one which means connecting OK. Does that sound right?

Check if the router supports EE frequencies
<snip>
Check in router settings if the APN network details are populated automatically or they need to be input manually
Refer to this
https://apn-settings.com/uk/ee-apn-settings/
https://www.4gapn.com/gb/en/ee#8-2
The SIM supports both calls and data but I currently only have a data package applied. I have no idea what frequencies the router supports and have no manuals. I can't see this information in the setup pages either. This is the only ID on the router if it means anything to anybody. Is there any practical/easy way to check?
APN settings were on Auto. I tried changing them to Manual and entering data per your first link. On rebooting it seemed to be connecting but bombed out again after a few seconds.

As above re APN settings. Should the original "Auto" settings have sufficed to your knowledge?

Last year I bought a no-name router to use with a Dtac SIM to provide internet to my place in Thailand and it's been working OK. I'm in the UK now and bought a router here to provide the same service here using a local SIM on the EE network. To compare the two, I put the EE SIM in the Thai router which I'd brought to the UK with me, but it doesn't connect to the EE network. Is there likely to be anything in the settings I could change to allow it to connect or is it more likely the specification is different and it'll never work?
If I were looking at them now, what settings/parameters etc would I look for to ensure compatability between routers and SIMS from different markets?

However, last I checked, the exams are for customers who intend to buy glasses from her. No standalone exams w/ prescription given.
I wasn't aware of that but I do know she won't do it the other way round, ie sell you glasses based on a presciption obtained elsewhere. She insists on doing the eye test as presumably it gives her the opportunity to pick up any other issues you should be aware of.

You can book on-line in advance for an extra 10 baht to ensure you get on the one you want.

I've had mates use the 35 Group mentioned above with no problems but I think this is the website for the one you've seen.

That new law, which has been passed, is to do with the Tax man (not DWP) and undeclared side income above 1,000 Pounds and nothing to do with passports etc!
Both links I posted specifically mention the DWP.

Two hits quickly disussing what I think the OP is referring to.
https://positivemoney.org/2024/02/how-the-government-is-spying-on-our-bank-accounts/

There was an article mentioned in many places recently, perhaps even on here too, that focussed on the point in a bill currently going through Parliament which gives the government the right to snoop on bank accounts as described in the OP.
I'll have a look for it but if you can use Google you should be able to find it for yourself.

I just read the BBC News article about 10 minutes ago and when I saw the thread title I thought it could very easily be about this, so 100% agree with the OP.

Not in the app that I had, or maybe I misread it, any way that app that you put up, the last sentence on it would definitely put me of using it.
I didn't put up that pic. The one I put up before showed the price of a Bolt trip from central Pattaya to central Bangkok at just over 1,000 baht, which is more than reasonable considering you youself mentioned a "normal taxi" is 1,400 baht.

Thanks Treetops, I will tell them to request it.
There may be 2 PNRs associated with the booking so they may need to contact BA to get the QR one.

Cannot do a dummy booking as Bolt do not operate in my area. But due to a poster who said he was charged double the fare because of heavy traffic, I will never use Bolt.
You're loss as there are many, many more satisfied customers than the single report you appear to be making your decision on - odd to say the least but maybe not unexpected. You should be able to a dummy booking by inputting an origin and destination in areas where Bolt operates.
-
Qatar's website should first be looking for a PNR (and surname) under "Manage Booking". The PNR will be a 6 character alphanumeric code and should be on their confirmation from Trailfinders, or available from them.

Agreed, although eventually you get free seat selection on these lower fare type tickets once online check in opens. Similar on Emirates lowest fare type despite what some posters claim. Without going back to double check I think I've also seen it with both Finnair and Air France "Light" fares recently.
