  1. I was not trying to justify it but to put forward a reason for it. We all know by now that vaccinated people can still catch and pass on the virus, even if the chances are much less than unvaccinated. All actions to reduce case numbers contribute to the overall picture so even this will help. It's only a few days since the UK removed before travel testing (still has after) and we're much further down the road to recovery than Thailand, so I may not like it but can understand why they do it, money grab aside.
  2. Nope. Glad I got in under known conditions rather than waiting for what might happen or might not. The up to 72 hours since the test before you fly and any transit stop (if they even allow them) on the way expose you to risk, and the test on arrival is a quick and painless way to introduce another degree of safety into the process.
  3. Another reason to worry about the successful implementation of the Thailand Pass scheme is that it is also intended to integrate the TM6 and T8 forms into the app. If anyone remembers the last attempt at automating the TM6 they'll know what I mean.
  4. Wise don't support transfers out in baht or do you have a USD account with Kasikorn? And is the Greece account in dollars or Euros? Xendpay are my backup to Wise and at first glance they appear to do Baht to Euro (if that's what you want), and may even be cheaper, especially as a new user.
  5. I don't think so. When I arrived all the Samui transfer passsengers were being met at the entrance to the terminal to be whisked away to their transit prison. Passengers terminating at BKK joined the arrivals vetting process. I think any COE or Thailand Pass application will be refused without a through ticket, but only one way to find out for sure until it's officially announced, and I'm glad it won't be me that tries it. That is believed to be the plan but again not officially announced. No PCR test but Lateral flow test will be required on or before Day 2 on arrival in the UK and must be ordered prior to doing the PLF.
  6. Plan A is not available to everyone as discussed already in this thread. Plan B is going back to the "old" way before the "long stay" solution was implemented and is still not guaranteed 100% effective, also as already discussed. Plan C is the "old old" way that historically cost significantly more for most that everyone wanted to avoid, hence the welcome (Transfer)Wise got to the party. Whatever has changed at Wise, I think someone who knows the history will eventually become aware of it and restore us to where we were two weeks ago, and it'll all go quiet for another couple of years.
  7. Looks the same as the one ubonjoe gave above?
  8. Members may be aware the change to a lateral flow test on Day 2 takes effect from October 24th.
  9. There have certainly been reports of people starting the COE in a similar manner to what you describe ie from a country other than the one they are applying to.
  10. Just saw you posted this on the other thread too. Let's keep it over there as I think it's more relevant.
  11. Prayut's speech did not say that (and hadn't beeen made an hour ago) but as I just said on another thread: "I didn't think the language was convincing, but that may be due to the translation. He reportedly said he would instruct the CSSA and MOPH to consider allowing visitors in without quarantine." OK, he's in charge and what he says normally goes, but I'm encouraged rather than convinced.

  13. That, along with the "long stay" reason, has been the best solution to the foreign transfer designation for a couple of years now, but something is broken with the system and it's not happening. FWIW I think a change at Wise has stopped the automatic routing via BBL when "long stay" is selected, perhaps not aware of the effect the change is going to have on one subset of users. Once enough complaints are received and someone remembers why the process was set up as it was, I think they'll revert. There still won't be a 100% guarantee, but all in all it's been plain sailing until now.
  14. Double vaccination is probably an awful lot better and free - no regular person would take your fruitloop alternative.
  15. You'd have to provide them with all the information required so just as easy to provide it to the Embassy direct and cut out the middleman. It's currently only a short list of documents followed up with a hotel and airline booking.
  16. I've always transferred to TW British Bank details - this was something extra they appeared to be offering, akin to the Borderless Account although that wasn't actually mentioned.
  17. You need version 1.0.1 of the Thailand Plus Android app to get rid of the crash when opening. There are a couple of links floating around showing how to get it while the Play Store is still offering 1.0.0. Look in the replies to low ratings on the Play Store.
  18. I got mine a few days ago using an NHS Scotland vaccination certificate with no passport number. No problems. I think the Embassy will be used to what is issued in their areas of coverage.
  19. I'm assuming from your user name that you're applying in the UK. I too am in the process there and submitted travel info on the 6th as well. My approval was given within 2 hours. I did not receive an email (for that or the pre-approval) so relied on checking the system myself.
  20. Well finding this out from other member is the purpose of this thread as I see it, and you're addressing the OP. He was asking if others had come across it and it appears so. Hopefully a short term technical problem but we shall have to wait and see.
  21. Pretty obvious if your login screen is like this:
  22. When Transferwise (as they were then) introduced Long Stay in Thailand as an option to choose when sending, it was in direct response to issues Thai expats raised at the time related to the international transfer requirement for immigration. For some month before it was available a phone call was required to flag your account as requiring "special" treatment. When this process was finalised they made it clear that it was not 100% guaranteed and that there could be technical or other issues causing the process to change and the International Transfer designation to be lost. I think we've just come across one of these technical issues (not bad after a good run for the last couple of years) and something has gone wrong preventing the "good" system from working. Fortunately it's been flagged early enough in the month for alternate processes to be used to maintain requirements for visa extension reasons, or hopefully for the glitch to be fixed and Wise transfers to go back to how they were.
