    Well I waited and got my new laptop in the UK, I went for the Acer Aspire 6930G for £700

    Spec

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7450 2.13ghz

    16'' screen

    4gb DDR2

    NVidia Geforce 9600M GT

    320GB HDD

    The only problem Im having with this is Vista, what a load of Poo. Im having problems installing all the programs I need and just problems in general with it. Ive decided to get a copy of XP installed, how hard is this to do and is it possible?

    Im going back to the Uk for 4 weeks and I need to get a laptop as my machine backhome was built in 2001.

    Firstly Ive never had a laptop before so Im not sure which brands are worth looking at. Ill need something with a good graphics card and at least 2mb of Ram, more if possible.

    Any suggestions?

    Second question, Is to be cheaper to buy the machine back in the UK or in Thailand before I go with the Current exchange rate. It would be easier for me to buy it here so I can load all the programs and move work over from my machines in Thailand. If I buy back in the UK ill have to stick everything on a portable hard drive to take back.

    Uk Tourist Or Family Visa For The Wife

    Sorry If this has been asked a million times before but were about to fill out some application forms and im not sure if we should apply for a tourist visa Vaf1A or a family Visa Vaf1B. My wife and I have been married for two and a half years and we have a 2 year old son. We went back to the UK for a month in October 07 but I don't remember having a choice for a tourist or family visa. Were going back for 4 weeks so we can spend some time with our family back home whilst my son is off nursery.

    Im sure we went for a tourist visa last time.

    Slackula, I went round the whole of IT plaza trying to get a legit copy, each time they just reached for a 32 bit version, no one there had any idea what the 64bit version was.

    Id like to buy it online but Ive had my fair share of stuff go missing in the post over the last few years so I was hoping for legit download.

    OK, so I went to IT plaza in Korat and brought my new machine, No I7 processors in stock so Ill probably get another machine in 6 months or so.

    Asus P5QL-E MotherBoard

    Intel Quad Q8200

    ATI Radeon 4850 IceQ

    Kingston DDR2 4gb

    Seagate 1.5TB

    It was so cheap that I decided to get another one with a slightly lower spec.

    Asus P5QL-E MotherBoard

    Intel Quad Q8200

    ATI Radeon 4670 IceQ

    Kingston DDR2 4gb

    Seagate 1TB

    All for under 50k, also got mouse keyboard, dvd writers, speakers etc.

    I tried buying a 64bit operating system but they didnt have any.

    Thanks for the info guys. As asked in a previous post the computer is only used for 3d animations in such packages as 3dsmax and Maya. So the faster the processor and the more Ram I have the quicker the application will be. Also the renders will be quicker. With cloth and water simulations I really need this computer to be as quick as possible. My current set up is fine but Ive had this machine for about 2 and half years and I need a second and possibly 3rd machine.

    Currently I have an AMD64x2 4600, 4gb DDR, ATI Radeon x1900.

    So it looks like I could either go for one of the I7 machines with as much Ram as I need. I will have to find out the maximum the programs can use.

    Another option is to go for a quad processor which is good value for money. How about a dual quad set up, is that possible?

    Its time for a new computer and im looking to put something together.

    Ive been looking at the Inter i7 core processors, is this the way to go? I think the I7-920 is about 11k and the I7-940 is about 20k, the I7 exteme processors are way out of my budget.

    Ill be installing a 64bit operator probably still XP so Im looking to have as much ram as possible. It looks like I7 comes with DDR3 and for some reason they seem to come in groups of 3gbs. Im guessing the maximum I can go for is 6gb?

    Harddrives Ill probably be going for 1 or 2TBs but im not sure if they should be single drives or split up, what are the advantages of splitting them up.

    Graphics card, I dont need anything to fancy this is not for gaming.

    Is there anything else I could do with like coolers to stop it overheating? Currently I have to clean my machine out every 2 months because the processor gets blocked with dust and overheats.

    The programs I mainly use are 3d packages such as 3dsmax and Maya but I also have multiple programs open at the same time using dual screens.

    Looking for some advice from an expert, Im clueless when It comes to this stuff.

    So Im not the only one whos Thai side of the family constantly feed there son sweets and pepsi. Hes only 2 and when hes with me I always make sure he brushes his teeth in the morning and at night when he showers and he also brushes them once or twice at nursery i think after lunch. It doesn't matter how many times i tell them, dont feed him any pepsi or snacks from 7/11 every time I got to get him hes got chocolate round his lips, boiled sweets in his pocket and stuck to his clothes, covered in crisp crumbs, pepsi stains down his top. The wifes retarded brother even brought him a pack of chewing gum to eat, what a f*"king retard. My wifes just as bad, any little stop at 7/11 to get some tissues, water etc she cant but help grab some kind of snack, drives me crazy.

    1year Non Immagration Type O, Extra 30 Days?

    Ive just finished my second 1 year multiple entry non Immigration type O visa. I went just be before it expired and got the extra 90 days on top of that. This stamp runs out on Jan 1st but I was wondering if there was any way to get an extra 30 days or longer if I done a boarder run after my latest stamp expires?

    Does anyone know what the rules are regarding this, I would be going to Cambodia for the visa as I do after every 90 days. If possible id love to be able to drag it out until the end of February when my son finishes his school term so we can all go back to England for his school holiday.

    Car Wash, How Much You Pay?

    Think I pay just under 300Baht for a foam clean. They never really do a great job and the inside is always sticky where they dont wipe away that spray stuff properly. Every time I go there they hassle me to get a 2500Baht Teflon coating that apparently stops all the rain drops from marking the car and windows. They say i should have this because the car is new and black. The bloody thing needs washing every other day. This is in Korat at the Mall shopping center
