providing the rumored news matches the official decision,
and there is no reason i cannot
i will likely apply for my 60 day extension Mid September

i doubt there will be any chaos at immigration

I agree @innosiem If they are overcrowded......if your lucky you'll get a ticket; if you're unlucky you'll just be told to come back tomorrow.....and the next and the next.

Anyone who tries to create chaos through suggestions outlined in this thread will be drawing the short straw for sure; drawing retribution as mentioned in # 7 # 8 # 20.....or similar. ????

Still, it'll be a great experience for you all.....TIT

  2. Is it a scam if you receive something approximating what you paid though; whether you ordered it or not?

Scams usually involve taking, not reciprocation.

Definition of reciprocation. 1a : a mutual exchange. b : a return in kind or of like value.value.

You'll fit right in here....moaning about losing 300 baht after nineteen posts.

Here is the verbiage from the Op's article

Thai authorities yesterday allowed 50 pick-up trucks and cars from Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet city to enter Thailand’s Rong Kluea market to remove their belongings for the first time since COVID-19 forced border closures in March.

Here is more verbiage from the Op's article

Thai authorities had allowed 50 pick-up trucks and cars from Cambodia to cross the border, with only two persons allowed per truck, to check on their goods as promised.

“I want to reiterate to vendors that Thai authorities are only allowing 50 designated trucks per day to check on their goods.

    Mixed messages as usual......

    And if I extend:

-- should I get single re-entry so I can convert to Non-O when I return.

There's lots of things unsaid in the OP, which dependent upon the facts require separate answers entirely.

Is he on an EOS based on O-A or is he on first year of an O-A based on Retirement, which in normal circumstances he could extend to take full advantage of the available two years.

If you're on your first year you wouldn't need the R-E permit in normal circumstances, and to change to an O would require leaving and returning after the O-A had expired and getting VOA.

    Go to the IO.....ASAP.

My Thai fiancee and I will be split up for months if I were to leave and as nobody knows for sure for a bit of fun, what do you think the options for those of us here on Tourist Visas will be prior to 31st July?

Find a flight and leave, or after 31st go onto overstay with all of its attendant risks.

There's a lot of stupidity being talked!! There was an emergency decree announced, that included an amnesty on expired visas which included VOA & TR for the purpose of this thread. Through social media, commenters seem to have extrapolated that into some sort of a special Covid-19 extension. It's not anything of the sort. Look around you; you are in Thailand, so read between the lines. 1."Aww but I don't want to go". Who are they? Two year olds or just self entitled idiots 2. "The government didn't say we have to go". Tough for number one; a lot of us felt like that years ago, but we went home, made arrangements and came back. 2. No they didn't say it openly. That would make them lose face, telling people openly; to leave. What they did was give expired visa holders a chance to make a rational decision and leave of their own volition. Not only once, but twice through the second extension to 31 July. Will they extend it again? Who on here could possibly answer that question. If they don't and the decree and amnesty is lifted enjoy jumping through whatever hoops are set before you all; we've all had to, and be prepared to pay overstay fines. For those who deliberately overstay, enjoy being homeless, because checking in anywhere will more than likely see you picked up in the morning. If that happens; enjoy your stay in the IDC. It'll be a really great story of the great Covid pandemic of 2020 to tell your grandkids about. Stay safe everyone; choose wisely. TIT

The insurance might be less than the agent fees... I heard 30k or so to get set up without insurance or bank.. but I have never used an agent in 7 years of OA.

upwards of 30k is  start price https://longstay.tgia.org/ may be less if you find your own

As advised by @Peter Denis in many threads, this company will be fairly useless for real HI, though will fulfill the immigration requirements for extending an O-A at between 6-11 thousand baht up to 75 y.o. Happy to be corrected Peter!!

  7. Laos to require medical documents for travelers seeking to exit the country

Laos’ government now requires individuals seeking to exit the country to produce a medical clearance certificate for their destination before being allowed to exit, in an effort to stifle the spread of covid-19.
The National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Laos dictated that all travelers procure a medical certificate clearing its holders free of the coronavirus.

The covid-19 taskforce announced that travelers without a medical permit would be barred from entering the desired destinations.

Laos’ deputy director of Mittaphab Hospital, Dr Vangnakhone Dittaphong, highlighted the medical clearances’ utmost importance to prevent the spread of the coronavirus overseas.
The state would produce multiple health checkpoints, which will check if travelers are carrying the needed medical documents before allowing entry.
Travelers seeking a medical certificate could obtain one from government-designated hospitals throughout Laos.
However, to prevent the virus’s local transmission, persons exhibiting symptoms of the infection will be barred from procuring the needed medical documents.

I'm in Australia, with Australian and Thai passports. I have to figure out how to get permission to leave Australia, then get all the certificates and letters required to enter Thailand.

    I'm stuck!

So you're in Australia.....you have a Thai Passport!! I'd hardly see that as stuck.....Thais are arriving back regularly. Go talk to the Embassy or one of the Consulates. I'm sure they'll be able to give you the necessary information from the Thai side.

The link is to exemptions the Australian government provide to allow you to leave the country. Good Luck!!

  9. G'day @Ginger Tea the 90 day reporting amnesty finishes on 31 July.

You can apply for your extension of stay 30 days before your O-A visa expiry date. So I think you could pop into the IO right now to avoid any crowds, do the 90 day to give yourself some breathing space should extra requirements arise.

When you say 90 day "Stamp".....do you mean your TM 47 paper slip? (see attachment)

For the record: I also believe you may have to liaise with Pacific Cross and update your policy to align with your actual day of extension; though others say the date of application. I'm sure those with a much broader knowledge base than me will be along; but a trip to immigration to test the waters and ask what's what could be a wise move imo. All the best......

You seriously need to look into consequences of overstay. Your sound very  poorly informed. Almost past foolish.

You can't help those who don't want to help themselves @DrJack54 His mind seems to be made up on this new exciting S.E. Asian adventure he's so intent on embarking upon. Live and learn, to each his own eh?.....To the OP โชคดี

If Viantiene can barely deal with a few hundred in a day, then how much further can they be stretched?

Bear in mind, prior to this amnesty an appointment was mandatory in Vientiane; I think two weeks prior to your required date . So anyone who's looking to just front up to suit themselves is in la la land imo. If a riot occurs, it won't be a problem in Thailand or neighboring countries.......all have armed forces they use to quell dissent.......

Check out their low-cost covid-19 insurance.

Simply fill in your nationality, age, type of insurance and period > you will get a matrix table with US $ coverage options (select 100.000 US $) and deductible you want to apply to that coverage.

There's a glitch in the matrix. Nationality and age are buffering/stuttering like crazy .......can't enter information. I was curious!!

  13. I think @johnray is referring to having the issues resolved in an expeditous manner, as quietly as possible to sort your WP and visa situation to avoid leaving the country, which for the moment is completely hypothetical anyhow; to enable you to maintain your position if all else fails. I'm sure your new employer has lawyers who know people. TIT

As you've said you'll know more today. Could you be so kind as to let us know? Because at the moment you seem to be panicking over a situation that is still quite fluid.....

When you don't burn bridges, you have a plan that best suits YOU and YOU only.

In other words, USERS don't burn bridges? Tough luck ol' chap if it gets burnt from the other end!!

Some bridges are meant, and best to be burnt, so that it does leave only YOU; it also puts an end to any silly notions of regret and if only.

Burnt bridges are not for everyone though, especially co dependent people; they'd never cope being truly alone!!
