More positive input on work arounds with ThaiPass would be a breath of freshair to those trying to cope with a stressful situation. Has anyone had an easier time with this thing using Gmail/Firefox??
Yes, it seems the essentials are: All documents saved and sent as .jpg's, then submit using Mozilla Firefox web browser rather than Google Chrome, and only supply a Gmail email address for correspondence.
Given that your documents are all correct you will get a speedy acceptance, from my personal experience

I was planning a trip up to Chiang Mai to feast on the mountains I miss from back in the UK. Not so sure now, or once again is this over reacting. I read the other day that worldwide there have been 5 million Covid-19 fatalities in the last 20 months, so should I stop worrying about the 100 million deaths in the world annually?
Oh I see, so you're saying that 95 million less people died in the last 12 months, yet another FaceBook fact huh!

I think it's just the hotels slow in getting their packages out:
Slow indeed, as they are still hoping that ppl will take a 7 day package IMO.
But it is impossible at this stage to find any site that publishes any Phuket Hotels offering the "Test & Go" deal. The bit that scares me is the transport to the Hotel and the ATK also being provided by the Hotel, I can just see the IO at the airport refusing my entry if that's not documented for me to show them.
I'm not even thinking of going to Thailand until this mystery is cleared up

Thank you.
I am attracted to Honda, the Jazz looks a little sporty and is a car that either my wife or I can drive. The load capacity sounds good as I occasionally have family visit us.
I have a 2011 Jazz with low km's bought 2nd hand from Expat Autos in CM, great car with an excellent engine and really versatile loading with the Magic Seats. The Mazda and Toyota are also solid Jap cars but not as unbreakable as the Honda IMO.
Tip: Buy White and you'll sell it quickly when the time comes

I have found an Insurance policy ( NotTGIA)that is available to the age range 1-99 years at a reasonable cost that meets the $1,00,000, however there is a condition that the first 14days is a 'wait time'
I am sure the individual Embassies/Immigraation officials would nt accept such a policy, but would it be acceptable if I commenced the policy 14 days before the arrival date in Thailand. My thinking is that as the first 14 days are not covered, it doesn't matter where I am and so long as it is effective on my arrival, it should be accepted. Any thoughts?
read the fine print, it will most likely commence from when you leave your house to commence your trip

You could obtain a tourist visa or even enter visa exempt and obtain a non O (based on retirement) inside Thailand at immigration.
Would require bank account in Thailand and also deposit 800k but only for day of application of non O.
You could obtain a STV.
Is it possible to apply for a Non O when you're Visa Exempt? also I thought the 800k had to be in the bank for 2 months prior to application?

So, it's "quarantine-free" and we are "exempt from quarantine" but we have to quarantine for one to two nights on arrival. Am I understanding that correctly?
Long enough for them to know if you are Covid free apparently, as it's been 3 days since your last test. Most test results should be known within 8 hours so not sure where you get 2 nights from? Also the Sandbox is 2 PCR tests and 7 nights accom' pre booked, so this is better IMO

There is no rule as of yet. The only requirements are for OA Visa/Extensions: 400/40K baht insurance + 100K USD Covid plan / 1 year or length of permission to stay upon entry
for O Visa : 100K USD Covid plan for 90 days / none reuired for subsequent extensions
Not in Australia re the OA, the 40/400k is now redundant, replaced by 3 million bht cover inclusive of Covid

They're talking about beach front properties of which availability is slim to nearly none and the prices of these few properties are horrendously expensive and definitely on the rise.
The term Beach Front isn't mentioned? It's a con job

Covid insurance is a scam, dreamt up to feed an industry lobby the same as ASQ was and is a scam, dreamt up to feed the hotel lobby.
However, in a digital age, it is not beyond the realms of technology to have a country insist on any visitor having general medical insurance for worthwhile amounts (say $10m) instead of some meaningless $100k number.
However, in the long term, I see this as all falling on the airlines and outbound immigration. They already check your passport, visa, entry rules, etc. so adding a covidbollocks jab requirement or some other <deleted> to that list is a marginal addition. Insurance companies would (quite simply) agree to meet an international standard for minimum medical care coverage. However, the notion that Thailand could manage 40m applications via their embassies is beyond comprehension. Neither could Somchai at immigration as they already stamp their lovely meaningless pieces of paper and waste your time. Add a further burden to that and they would go absent in even greater numbers.
Covidbollocks???? Clearly nobody in YOUR family has died of Covid
So Mr Freedumb, take your meds and go back to your room

I doubt any Ozzies would come anyway. They have to go through an expensive 14 day quarantine upon returning to Australia.
No longer the case after Nov' 1

There was a news report on the BBC about Thailand re-opening to ten "safe" countries on November 1st. They included Britain and the USA which raised an eyebrow or two! Clearly the Thai authorities are desperate for tourist dollars at any cost.
US and UK ? purely aimed at the money factor, otherwise why no mention of Australia and New Zealand? 2 of the safest Covid countries on Planet Earth

It seems to me that the doctors in rural communities are correct in their assessment of the situation. They see the fall-out of the exodus from the cities, with patients bringing the virus with them. The doctors need vaccines and support to stop those communities being wiped out and become ghost towns and subsequent economic decline.
Sadly support they're just not getting, there's barely any vaccines in the rural areas, some have been waiting months just for a 1st jab of SinoVac, this is why this brave chap has blown the whistle. Local Hero.

Nothing has changed save for going from 14 to 10 days.
Not only do I not see this enticing travelers it is still so unappealing I will continue to wait to travel abroad from and return to Thailand.
The government keeps holding out bc vax rates still so low and virus is contagious regardless of vaccine.
Mark these words: PCR test at airport and minimum hotel stay of 3 days (at doubled rates so like 6 days) is here forever!!! COE and insurance is forever!! It's all about mafia and money.
Nov 1 lol
More like money number 1
10 days for Covid denialists and 7 days for the smart majority.
bc vax rates? is that a Canadian vaccine?

Enough of this propaganda.
"reopening" means... The same old stuff (COE, rules, insurances, tests, vaccine yes/no, special hotels, blablablabla)... with just another word.
In a normal world, "reopening" would be "reopen the borders" (closed since april 3 2020), drop the "emergency decree", open all businesses, stop the Covid scaremongering, drop all the meaningless rules, reopen all the schools, etc.
But we all know that on november 1, none of this will happen.
Kindly define your definition of Covid scaremongering? using the words that you would happily say to the face of a family of a deceased Covid sufferer

NOTE:
The Japanese are the largest group of expats in Thailand but only own 800 odd condos compared to the Chinese owning 20,000 odd and the Russians with 2000 odd.
I would always trust a Japanese business mind and without pointing any fingers there are 2 very corrupt nations in the top 5 list ;)

Yes I'm familiar with that method but this time I have close to 40kg of luggage with me, so I might just get a Grab from Mo Chit or from my Hotel in Nana, it's been 2 years but last time I was there the Taxi Mafia were quoting obscene fares
