  1. My first wife was into cats and she obtained many smelly cats after we separated. She was definitely on the mad side of the bell curve.
  2. This is probably why he loves Putin. Birds of a feather and all that....
  3. Replacing one vice (sex) with another (casino, gambling) will not make Pattaya family friendly.
  4. What type of date drug does one make from drain cleaner and lollies? Very strange indeed.
  5. At the very best I completely distrust them and try to avoid all contact. Usually I have a strong dislike for them, but during the covid period I really started to hate them. They way overstepped their authority and showed their true colours during the protests.
  6. In many Arabic-speaking countries, Abdelali is a common name, often given to children as a way of expressing devotion and humility. His parents must be proud.
  7. You found my vacation stash....
  8. I can think of a few people who also fit into this category.
  9. This sounds like Schrödinger's ticket.
  10. Nah, he's down in Phuket with the rest of the russians.
  11. I look forward to it for answers.
  12. I very much doubt that this is guy that you are thinking of, however, since everyone is using ChatGPT here I may as well do the same.... The man you're most likely thinking of is **Charles Sobhraj**. He was a French-Vietnamese serial killer, thief, and conman who preyed on Western tourists traveling on the "hippie trail" of Southeast Asia during the 1970s. He was known by several nicknames, including: * **The Bikini Killer:** Due to the attire of some of his victims. * **The Serpent:** For his ability to evade authorities and change his identity. * **The Splitting Killer:** A reference to his partnership with a woman named Marie-Andrée Leclerc. Sobhraj and Leclerc would befriend young tourists, drug them, rob them, and sometimes kill them. Estimates suggest he may have murdered up to 20 people, though the exact number remains unknown. His crimes were centered around Thailand, but he also operated in other parts of Southeast Asia. **The TV Series:** The television series you might be remembering is **"The Serpent"**, a British drama miniseries released on Netflix in 2021. It tells the story of Sobhraj's crimes and the pursuit of justice by Dutch diplomat Herman Knippenberg.
  13. Every one of these sob stories ends with a go-fund-me request.
  14. Sometimes I feel a little claustrophobic in the island of Australia
  15. Not just online games, but also state lotteries, horse racing and casinos. They are all rigged to win, of course.
  16. I take a photo of relevant pages in my passport, health insurance certificate, address and important phone numbers, and a few other things. Edit and reduce all the photos onto a single page on my computer and then print it out. All on half a page of A4, neatly folded so all the text is on the inside and protected. The paper copy lasts a for the period of my visa and time in Thailand. I also have a copy of all the original photos on my phone. The only time I had to show my actual passport was when visiting some big celebration/fair near the Royal Palace a few years ago where all Thais had their cards electronically checked and foreigners had to have their passports scanned. The only time I had to show my photocopied passport was when changing cash at SuperRich before Covid, however, I then discovered that my local money changer gives better rates than SuperRich and does not need a passport.
  17. What exactly is a denizen in Thailand? Ever picture yourself stuck in a Bangkok traffic jam at rush hour, the heat suffocating, horns blaring, and motorbikes weaving through like angry hornets? Now imagine that, forever, but inside your own decaying body. The vibrant chaos of the city muted to a dull throb. Are those saffron-robed monks chanting, or figments of your fading mind? Being a denizen in Thailand would be a cruel twist. No more cooling off with a mango sticky rice by the beach, no more haggling for trinkets at the Chatuchak market. Just you, a prisoner in your own decaying form, forever trapped amidst the cacophony of life. Sure, no more tuk-tuk rides at dawn or battling the crowds at Wat Pho. But that's a cold Chang beer compared to the existential dread. Being a denizen is like staring into the face of a grinning demon statue at a temple, and the demon stares right back. Maybe there's just silence. The deafening hush after the symphony of Thailand's vibrant energy. Like finally finding peace in a hidden jungle temple, but a peace you can never escape. Denizen in Thailand? More like a nightmare on Khao San Road. Let's hope whatever's out there involves a hammock on a secluded island, a cool breeze, and definitely not an eternity as a decaying prisoner in the Land of Smiles.
  18. 1- Elephants We have a zoo. I don't see the attraction for a large dirty animal. 2- Beaches Too hot. Too sandy. Too crowded usually. I don't see the attraction. 3- Temples Seen one, seen them all. 4- Food I can get good Thai food at home or even cook it myself. No need to travel far. 5- Culture LOL. Really? 6- Markets/Shopping I have all the materialistic crap I need. I hate shopping. 7- Traditional Massages My local Thai massage place is much cheaper if you factor in air fares and hotels. 8- Beautiful Nature Too many dirty constructions that spoil most views. Better nature in my home country. 9- Friendly People Superficially, but underneath they just want your money and for you to go home. 10- Travel Affordability Travel in my home country is cheaper and road trips are more fun. Women and nightlife are the only attractions that are harder to get back home for an older guy.
  19. My OCD clicked in with this "game" and I had to click all the boxes, BUT..... some troll kept clicking them off again. After 3 hours I finally had to give up. Who is the sadistic b@$t@rd who created this demonic site?
  20. You call THAT a dog? 5555555555555
  21. I agree. I have rented the same condo in Bangkok for the past 9 years and the rent has remained the same at 17000 a month all that time. Maybe I have a good landlord. In the meantime I have 2 properties in my home country and I have increase the rent there almost every year to keep up with costs and maintain my standard of living.
  22. I fall under all four reasons. I even did #3 well before covid appeared. I do, however, spend a HEAP of money on my Thai partner.
  23. That's OK. Just start a new Facebook account under a different name. Rinse and repeat until the BiB knock on your door.
