I cannot understand the need for this. OK if you are presenting them with a photocopy of your passport then it needs to be certified. But if you take your current, real, actual, physical, official, real_as_it_can_get, enough_to_get_into_the_country passport, then why can't they just take a photocopy there in the office and know the copy is legit? Perhaps even take an extra 4.5 seconds and decorate it with the office rubber stamp. Stamping paper is easy. Just ask any passport control officer. It seems that bureaucracy everywhere, not just in Thailand, is adding layer upon layer of expensive paperwork for no reason other than to make work for someone and make our lives a pain in the @$$.

I have flown into Thailand many times over the past 9 years almost exclusively to Suvarnabhumi. I flew into Don Mueang only three times and a few years ago coming back from Cambodia with my Thai fiance was the only time I was taken aside and questioned by the IM for half an hour. His reason was that I was coming to Thailand too many times and should get married so I can get a marriage visa. I asked the young guy if he was married and he responded no way. So I then asked him why he wants me to get married. He stamped my passport with an entry stamp. ???? I try to avoid DM.

I don't have work or family commitments in Australia so I would certainly prefer a 45 day stay to a 30 (actually usually 28) day stay. A longer stay means that the cost per day of my airfare is reduced so I would be inclined to travel to Thailand more often. For a return airfare of $900 the cost per day is $30 for 30 days or $20 for 45 days.

Mo Chit is way up north near Chatuchak. Why would you want to go so far out of the way, especially on crowded roads in a bus? I suppose by the time you get to Mo Chit it will be late at night and the taxi will be faster. LOL

It is now 6:30pm and Google maps is a sea of red and dark red for traffic between the airport and the river. Even Silom Rd from Silom station to The Shangri La is all red... SLOW. If you are thinking of getting off the MRT at Silom, I would change to the BTS Sala Daeng station and get off at Saphan Taksin. The hotel is a short 200m walk from the station. The only downside is that the trains might be crowded at that time in the afternoon and there may be long queues to get onto the trains. Varies with each station. I always use the train to get from the airport. Airport link and then a change to the MRT at Makkasan.
