  2. Mr. Tony made a mistake to get involved but there is one guilty party The person that assaulted him. High time to ban visa free travel and require home country criminal checks Guarantee this "bloke" is guilty and has a record of social offenses and deviance You don't just come to Thailand and start fighting with taxi drivers and punching geezers in the face. Criminal scu, what should have never been let in the country, I'd reckon.
  3. I don't know it as a fact I have not been a member for a few years I remember the subject coming up in announcements. Many members don't spend all their time in Thailand then would they thus be asking to cancel the visa for several months out of a year or maybe most of it to use as an extension? Thailand Elite income comes from by selling memberships, upgrades and extensions. The main office were apoplectic when discovering that members were still using their totally valid one year "permissions to stay" after 5 membership expired resulting in kinds of threatening emails. Thailand Elite is a membership program that offers various services . The PE visa is most members main interest surely but it just one benefit. Seriously doubt they would allow a free membership period extension just because one wishes to take up work. One fact is the PE visa is free, if you have a valid membership. I don't remember there being an application fee, If a member loses their passport one simply arranges for a new sticker to be affixed and the new visa sticker would expire at the end of the original membership period.
  4. By woman "truckie" I meant female commercial truck driver, but good post. Of course I have seen a lady with a family use D-Max/ pickup, not with a large cargo bed insert hauling a commercial load. Probably more common in rural areas Bangkok Airways pilot - One, Very butch, not very friendly> Heard some on the radio Woman boat captain - Nothing bigger than a river market canoe. Some cultural superstition? Lady bus or water taxi driver - Never seen they are always taking fares or guides Thailand trains - Not much experience "Lady cab driver" - The Best
  5. There is nothing such as "the Elite visa". If you signed up for the 5 year Easy Access plan you are a member of Thailand Elite for 5 years. One of the perks of membership is access to the PE visa.. Employment prohibited If you wish to work in Thailand, Thailand Elite office can help you cancel the visa so you may apply for the correct visa for your purposes of stay. The rest of the membership benefits of the Thailand Elite programme continue to the original termination date specified in your contract. When you wish to extend you can apply to Thailand Elite again.
  6. I can accept that. I do my best to fit in and be accepting and cooperative but no it is not our way. I am still free to notice it . An educated woman beckons with an open hand. Where are their masks by the way? Even if the Shinawatra's don't have the coronavirus should a woman be flapping her gums over food in a market gesturing with her rude crooked finger? Food to be served to many people invariably now covered with her flying aerosolized saliva particles.
  7. Pointing like that is rude in my culture.
  8. Never see a woman truckie in Thailand. Even a D-Max with a trailer insert.
  9. Any large breed can be dangerous The problem is with pit bulls certain bloodlines have been bred for all kinds of aggression and so many people appear to WANT dangerous dogs. Huge problem in US half the dogs I see walking are pit bulls now. One reason, the dog-pounds and rescue centers are full of them. The owner of any dog should be charged with the offenses of their animals cause, as if they committed it themselves. In this case assault causing grievous bodily injury.
  10. A high rise condo attached or adjacent to a major shopping mall is the best place to live in Thailand.
  11. I never recommend over-stay on purpose, forget Thailand Elite or being sent to IDC on a random police check. There is a risk if you wish to use the then sullied document to apply for a visa to a third country that does not have such a liberal attitude as Thailand towards short overstays. Have you ever wished to attend a graduate or diploma programme in yoga or vedic studies in India? If you overstay one day in Japan you are not coming back for 5 years I'm told. The foreign ministries and Immigration Officials of third countries can easily identify the overstay stamp and may be bound by rules to address it. Every year we get aged doofuses who "Have a one month visa". They honestly don't know arrival day is day one then forget how to count anyway. Just get an extension
  12. What do you mean AIRLINES? Airlines have never required tests. They go by the rules of the country they fly to and for transit airport countries.
  13. That is an apples to oranges comparison In that case the expired Thai passport holding Thai person still enter Thailand as a Thai with no visa or " permitted to to stay until" limit. It is true a Thai person can can travel and enter Thailand on an expired Thai passport The only problem might be transiting a third country (example Japan or Korea) where a valid passport might be required for boarding.
  14. Why ? Because he is entering Japan and is not fully vaccinated? Then it would be required to present a test certificate prior to boarding. Japan has been very strict about the type of tests it accepts. Especially regarding the so-called "sampling method".
  15. HappyExpat57 I just came back from Tokyo, so glad this long long pandemic appears to be winding down. I am absolutely sure a test is not required to transit Japan on JL, ANA or any other airline. You can't make a connection at NRT after 11:00 PM because the passenger terminal is closed. There are never any overnight flights scheduled, long standing reasons. KIX and HND are 24 hours. Many People got burned because airline websites and the likes of eXpedia sell itineraries that would be legal for a Japan resident or passport holder, but not possible for the average tourist because for example one cannot take a bus between HND and NRT or stay overnight in Narita without a visa and all the requirements to enter Japan If you go to the JL website "covid-19 travel information center" it leads you to a third party site called SHERPA. some of the info might be slow to update but I put in departing Thailand transiting Japan going to USA. See results below. ESTA is not a visa! The mind boggles. No wonder people are confused. But as you see no test required. I have nothing against JL/staff but the website is probably the worst I have used. Just took a fresh look at the JL official website now. The main area currently It is rife with inaccurate information completely invalid after Japan ruled some changes that came in effect Sept 7! It is now September 19 in Japan. No surprise from the nation of floppy discs and fax machines. One gets better info from youTube There has always been some cases of agents/stations apparently making up there own rules. I myself was in April 2021 denied boarding on a transit flight thru Narita to return to the US by ANA staff in Bangkok, for no valid reason. Japan NEVER required covid testing to transit Japan. Japanese airlines strictly went and still go by the country of destinations requirements so for most of the pandemic covid tests were required, not to transit Japan but because Thaliand, Malaysia, USA etc required it. As a resident and active airline pilot entering/transiting Japan dozens of times since April 2020 following the situation very closely. There were also some reports of ANA asking for "covid test certificates" from transit passengers causing confusion. This turned out to be for their own internal data collection for tracing, and not actually required. Also the issue of whether children under six required it or not which was "preferred" but not required. Many people had boarding problems with this. PM Kishida is in NYC this week and is expected to make grand announcement of further loosening of border restrictions while he regales Biden, the UN and NY stock exchange with his planned speeches. I am not confident it won't be another disappointment. China and Japan, alone on the globe holding fast to ludicrous rules that cause economic damage with no valid epidemic control relevance.
  16. No. No covid test required to transit Taiwan at this time In fact no covid test is required to enter Taiwan as of August. One of Taiwan's strategies during the great pandemic was to ban transit passengers completely! The first time I was to return to Thailand late December 2020 I had to suddenly cancel and re-book thru Incheon. Japan and Korea never banned transit pax or required transit pax to submit tests unless the country of destination required it of course
  17. Not true at all. Japan and and all the airlines operating thru Japan airports have never required covid 19 tests for transit thru Japan to another country. This has been true throughout the pandemic. One does not even need a covid test now to enter Japan if 3x vaccinated. Visa is another issue.
  18. Never purchase air tickets through third part sites. Always book directly at the airlines main site suing a major credit card. Any please remind how "travel agents" even exist anymore?
  19. One personally. A USD multi millionaire who was one one the most senior Captains at my company for years. I guess they are just all stories, then.
  20. Thailand has competing agencies with differing agendas. TAT for plans for wealthy tourists supporting increasingly ludicrous proposals and new visa schemes. Wealthy tourists just wanting to fly to Thailand frequently by air visa exempt get knocked back by Royal Thai Immigration for "coming too many times". The only instances when I was grilled was during the 5 years I was a member of Thailand Elite and had the PE visa. I got the feeling they don't care for it very much.
  21. What if I had not taken the vaccine? Would I be dead like my friends and 2 close family members instead of a just an illness. I have been taking jabs my whole life, no side effects.
  22. I had 3 pfizer shots on schedule and finally like many got the dreaded Omicron more recently Will skip the 4th shot until the new formulas come out this fall
  23. It is said nobody reads long posts but I do and enjoy. I heard the LAWS quoted this way the first time in BKK from someone on a barstool. Geezer probably read them off a wall in a toilet. A whole list of these used to be posted at SPICY. Never get into a fight altercation with a Thai male because no matter what you'll lose Never purchase a home to be registered in a Thai womans name Do not open a business All complete nonsense to single out Thailand could be said of any country. The only fights I saw here were between drunk aggressive foreigners. And then Thai college girls outside of pubs. Thai lady/foreigner marriages I know of very successful. The exceptions completely the fault of the foreign mans philandering or abuse. Imagine a hipster teacher bringing a Thai woman back to Portlandia his plan for the perfect Asian housewife while keeps on banging every woman in Yoga class as if nothing would go wrong?
  24. It is a great story but the presence of a dependent of a foreign manufacturer employee have to do with tourism? I got my phone back from Chiang Mai regular police force I had dropped on a tuk tuk
  25. In a stabilized situation with no fire smoke , cabin not compromised. No need to make a bad situation worse. It's a Captains call. You can assume people will be injured in an EVAC.
