    Large size shoe

Hey, they are nice shoes! I doubt you'll get something like this in a good brand for less in Bkk. I would prefer a refund on 4000+b. shoes that didn't fit. In fact, I called Amazon yesterday to ask about their international return policy. The agent said they would arrange it at no cost. But I am pretty sure I'll be out the import duty. We'll see. Fingers crossed. My current and only pair is worn down to where I can feel every tiny pebble on the road.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Shops in Central World and Central Chidlom all threw up their hands at 47. So finally I ordered a pair of Rockport leather slipons size 13W from Amazon. The shoes cost $53.81 but with S&H and import duty (which I may or may not get back part of) I paid $115. Which comes to 4242b. which actually is competitive with the prices of imports that I saw in the malls. In facts, Ecco, my favorite brand, starts at around 5k here. Only problem is if there is something wrong with the pair or if they don't fit then returning will be a pain in the backside.

I am looking for a size 47 Euro (13 US) slip-on loafer or similar. Went to a bunch of shops in Central World today but no luck. Any suggestion where to look? I don't care what brand as long as it's a decent leather. Thanks.
  4. You squabbling young pups don't know how good you have it now. But you've missed a lot too. My first trip to Pattaya was exactly 126,782 years ago. None of the fine Thai wenches wore clothes then. Now, before you get all hot and sweaty let me tell you why. Cloth hadn't been invented. Ha, ha, got you there:-) What they did wear was animal skin, mostly giant beaver hide, around their waists. And the fancy gals, who made the most stones (currency of the time) would sling a mammoth stole over their shoulders. They were the ones who had their own equus giganteus to ride too. Quite a dashing shape they cut as they came to work. Gogos had poles but they weren't steel like now. That stuff hadn't been invented yet. What they did was plant a small sturdy tree, like a dwarf oak, in the middle of the bar. And the gals would climb and pose on the branches. The branches reached around the cave and sometimes the gal would be right on top of you and her skin would "accidentally" slip off. Ah, memories. Beer hadn't been invented either, which <deleted> us off, but we made do with fermented aurochs milk. Most of the crowd in the bars were Viking lads. Horny thugs always looking for a fight they were. I used to stay at the Hilton Holes in a Hill which is exactly what the rooms were. But they were comfortable with a stream running down next to each so you and your woman could step out and wash yourselves after the deed. And tell you what we never had boring missionary sex those days. You know why? Because religion hadn't been invented. Ha, ha, got you there. Most of the nasty was done standing because you didn't want to be on the mud floors or cold rocks. And it was very cool then, even in July in Thailand. You had to be a hairy Neanderthal or a well-covered Denisovan to get around. Still, it was the weather that attracted tourists like me. If the currents were right I would come over from Gondwana on a log raft every April and return four months later when the currents turned.
  5. I am uncomfortable with women smarter than me. Which has drastically limited my dating options.
  6. Not one myself but was wondering what Brits think of Rishi Sunak who seems to be leading the race to be the next PM.
  7. Never done this before. Where is the place? Same forms to be filled as for CW? Does it take long? Thanks.
  8. I have to laugh as I see Western media rage against this war and Putin. The same media that was cheering the invasion of Iraq as righteous. When Iraq, 8000 miles away, had done exactly zero harm to the US. Not to mention the horrors inflicted by Nato in Libya and Syria. Interestingly, the Ukraine crisis had been predicted years ago by Western analysts who had warned against Nato belligerence and expansion. Personally, I hope the Russians achieve what they set out to without much more bloodshed (the Ukrainians apparently have dialed down there claims at the ceasefire negotiations). That way we'll get back to a multipolar world where one country doesn't get to decide who's good and bad and who gets to live and who gets to die.
  9. Former Miss Universe married Thai tennis player Paradorn. Still in LOS I think.
  10. I was thinking exactly that. I am not sure. I doubt it was anything in my answers, all innocuous - twice jabbed, no unsafe travel, blah blah. So random I guess. Scared the ell out of me though as I was already late for my appointment. That's why the post. A line of people for a test could even mean an hour.
  11. I went Friday afternoon for my retirement extension. First table they gave me a form to fill out asking if I had been jabbed, etc. etc. Had I been tested in the last 72 hrs? Left that blank. Next table I hand in the form and the guy looks it over and asks if I had been tested. No. You need to be tested now. Shoot. He walks me over to a nurses station to the side of the area. The test takes 5 mins. and thankfully negative. Just a headsup. You might want to budget a delay in case of testing. I was the only one in line for the test Friday but if there's more people it could easily be 30 mins.

  13. The value of crypto derives from the Greater Fool Theory. So, to quote the greatest investor of them all, Harry "Bitcoin" Callahan: You've Got To Ask Yourself One Question: 'Do I Feel Like a Lesser Fool? ' Well, Do Ya, Punk?
  14. If you had worn a mask then they wouldn't have known who it was and you would have got away.
  15. Well, I guess they hope that 800k isn't the sum total of your life savings. In other words, that you are wealthy enough to hold 800k in place for 5 months a year and still have enough elsewhere live off. Perfectly fair to expect an expat to afford an 800k cushion. If you can't you really shouldn't be here hanging on by your fingernails.
  16. Actually Grab has a PC web interface. https://food.grab.com/th/en/restaurants Pretty decent too. I use it all the time.
  17. Could he get medical exemption on the ground, see I am so dumb I think vaccines were invented by lizard people, that's a medical condition, no?
  18. Very reasonable. Nada'ls a good guy. So's Fed. Novak's dumb as a post. Great top-spin forehand though.
  19. Smart. I am a nervous Nellie though. I need to have everything in order or I'll start to fret. My Kbank branch is across the street from where I live. So I'll get paperwork from them in the morning and head out to reach CW 1pm.
  20. So just show up at CW and get a queue number? Any idea how busy it is nowadays?
  21. I thought the online appointment system was down. I need to do a retirement extension at CW soon. What's the link to the new system. Thanks.
  22. Bitcoin's value is based on the Reese-Novikov theory of kinetic first mover advantage in hyperbolic assets. You could spend a couple of years to read up on this. Or you could invest now, make your first million and then buy the books.
  23. Ok, "immediate" was a few minutes for both the reject and accept emails from Imm. And it was after 4pm I am fairly certain so seemed no way is an IO looking at my application. I guess the software has 3 responses to a submission. 1. If the address is a match, accept. 2. Not even close to a match, reject. 3. Close but not exact, keep pending, refer human.
