The Covid cover, Is that only for retirement or for marriage visa as well?

It is required for all entries to the country. Your visa or extension of stay type does no matter.

I take it this means I need proof of Covid insurance to apply for extension of stay based on retirement (will be going to CW in Jan.). If so, what docs do they want to see? I have April health insurance which covers Covid I know.

This sounds like this guy was importing a variety of drugs for pleasure.

This is not the same as Gamini who is obtaining medicine for his own personal use for his health

No difference from Thai FDA point of view. All imported meds need FDA clearance. Which DHL does for you. Of course, an occasional small shipment of some benign prescription med by regular mail can slip through. But you are asking for trouble regardless.

For one, brits aren't known around the world for expertly forging education documents, so a covid vaccine should be pretty simple in India.

I think India actually has the lowest vaccination rate of any country on the list ( even lower than Thailand), so if verified vaccines, not really an issue

aussiexpat, you are talking out of your, er, downunder.

Like Thailand India has a vaccine database based on national id. If Thailand-India choose to travel bubble (no flights yet between the two) they'll share access to these DBs. So forging vax docs is not going to be a smart option. Plus, vaccination is easily available in India and there is almost zero anti-vax lunacy there.

As for numbers, fully vaccinated in India currently 25% and new infections yesterday was 13k in a country of 1billion+. Which suggests that if you are fully vaxed the chance of being infected in India is near zero.

The reason India wasn't in the initial 46 countries is that one of their two main vaccines is not yet listed by WHO. They use Covishield which is AstraZeneca and recognized and fine. The other one is Covaxin which is in the final stages of WHO approval but not done yet (final meet next Wed.). Thailand didn't want to be in the situation of having to choose between fully vaxxed Indians but now they seem to have jumped the gun by a few days.

Do you mind if I ask how much?

30k-40k if I remember correctly what I paid when I left. Mind you that includes a post-op meds charge, probably 8k, which would likely have cost a few hundred at the pharmacy across the street.

it was a horrible experience all round...  6 polyps found and out

Weren't you sedated for the procedure? They put me to sleep. The bowel cleansing wasn't fun but certainly not painful and I wasn't conscious for the actual procedure so zero pain.

I would recommend Bumrungrud with a couple of reservations:

    (a) Meds are crazy expensive. You need to go out and buy.

    (b) They keep (or at least this doc did) trying to push additional procedures/treatments.

  5. Bumrungrud a couple of months ago. Told to eat very light the night before. Then went into the hospital at 8am for prep. They gave me a room (not inpatient, no bed, just a couple of chairs) with restroom attached and two huge bottles of laxative liquid to take. Which of course had me on the toilet every few mins. After the first few movements the nurse came in to take pics of my poop and was happy when it reached a desired coloration (I kid you not).

The op (colonoscopy and endoscopy) in the afternoon was after sedation so I felt nothing. In fact, woke up feeling incredibly fresh which made me appreciate why Michael Jackson liked to be knocked out by his doc each night.

Anyways, executive summary took half a day, painless though somewhat expensive.

Mahidol Dental Hopital nr Victory Monument

Excellent. But I believe their hours now are restricted. Went in the evening couple of weeks ago and it was all shuttered.

  7. In case anyone is interested here are prices (from a visit to the Institute of Dermatology) today:

    Scapho   Jab 14,000b.

    Tremfya Jab 70,000b.

These were quoted by a doc there to me, an obvious foreigner. Are these prices Thais pay or foreigners enrolled in the Thai system? I don't know but seriously doubt it. I can't imagine a Govt. run hospital, which is what the ID is, charging citizens 70k  b. a shot of anything.

  8. Thanks all. Today I went to JIB, who had assembled the PC, and explained the problem. I ordered a new printer from them because the Canon is growing long in the tooth and has paper feed issues. The deal is when the new printer comes in I'll take my PC in and they'll set up the printer and (hopefully) fix the disabled USB port.

Yes, I know. There is a price to pay if one is a klutz. Like having to unplug a PC and carry it 3 km. in order to connect a printer. Go ahead laugh. I don't care.

If it's not a driver, what is it?

Could be the same issue as below. Couple of days ago I pushed a pretty little thing against the PC table.

But seriously I have no intention of messing around myself and causing further damage (accidentally deleting stuff, etc.). I might just take it back to the shop that assembled it for me.

Did you try downloading the drivers from the printer web site as suggested and installing them?

Yep, it's not a driver issue.

I thought you simply plugged a USB printer in, and off it goes. Well mine did.

That's what's supposed to happen. And did with my old machine. But apparently a known problem with some versions of Windows 10, is the USB port doesn't appear in the dropdown for Choose a Printer Port (as you proceed along the Add a Printer steps). Then it gets screwy. There are workarounds it seems but I wasn't able to solve the problem.

  12. I just got my new PC made to order. However, having trouble connecting the printer. Went through the Add Printer steps but at Choose Printer Port didn't find a USB option. Fiddled around and managed to disable the port:-( Being totally inept at systems stuff I prefer to have an expert come over instead of me causing further damage. Happy to pay a good rate. I am near the Victory Monument BTS.

America thinks the unthinkable: More than half of Trump voters and 41% of Biden supporters want red and blue states to SECEDE from one another and form two new countries, shock new poll finds

I wouldn't pay much attention to these polls. Questions are posed for shock value. E.g., "Would you prefer to live in a country with like-minded states and like-minded federal government all getting along, rather than a warring house?".

A yes expresses current emotion but push comes to shove? No. It's a divided house, true, but dividing the country? Ain't going to happen.
