  1. Definitely you... If cars and pick-ups had plates, they'd leave them at scenes of accidents, get caught by speed cameras, (there are 1 or 2. Wife got caught on the 24 one time.) I did suggest to the wife that the plates should fall off our pick-up. Not amused for some reason. Never seen anyone stopped for not having a plate. I would say around 40% of bikes around here don't have plates either.
  2. Very sad to learn of her another piece of paper. I had 2 jabs, both Pfizer, with dates, batch numbers etc. All the good stuff. It has a logo at the top, my name, passport details and 13 digit hospital number. Is this not good enough?
  3. I can't comment on the accident, but am surprised the pick up or motorbike has plates at all!
  4. Thanks for your reply. No problem. Perhaps If you would speak to them privately and if they wish to contact me on PM, that would be great.
  5. Is this those of Chinese origin getting at those who are not? Perhaps a history lesson is due. Anyways, others are right. Something else to stay away from.
  6. In Sisaket, looking to purchase someone's unwanted Moderna jabs.
  7. I too am looking to buy someone's Moderna shots that they do not need. In Si saket...
  8. PM is in charge... That man there, order some vaccines. That man there, order some pills.. That man there...sort out the issues in the South...stop the temples and historical artefacts from flooding, oops, from a surfeit of water. that man there...Can't think for themselves
  9. Scared, no. Anxious, yes. There are other diseases and illnesses I am anxious about too. Taking as many, as I see it, reasonable precautions as possib!e. If only the wife would. But then she has always been a sociable animal, unlike me, who has been a grumpy old man all my life.
  10. Sometimes, when we have a power cut, our cameras reset pointing in wrong directions. Sometimes we have to reset them manually... Just a thought...we have a few power cuts and now at least 2 cameras fail to work. What does your contract say about the agent's access to the property, just in case the cameras are unserviceable?
  11. Just tell disabled people, no wheelchair access. They will use the next rest stop. They are used to being messed around, but this must take the biscuit.
  12. Perhaps, when someone decides to close a U turn, they will put water or concrete in the red barriers. in a place near me where they have been widening the road and putting in central reservations and new U turns, the red barriers are placed to close them off. Except, the red barriers are constantly being moved so bikes, and sometimes even cars use them. Some main roads have had barriers on the U turns for a long time. Bikers move them, use the U turns... water or concrete please. Or just concrete the bloody things closed properly.
  13. Have you watched Thai drivers at roundabouts? Usually, it's giveway, or yield to traffic on the roundabout. There's a new roundabout in Kantaralak. No one, and I mean, no one knows how to use it. Drivers stop on the roundabout and give way to those approaching. A few days ago, signalling left in the left lane, I had a vehicle pass me on the hard shoulder. Had the wife not mentioned it, I probably would have been hit.
  14. Disappointingly and depressingly, to be expected. Shame has no meaning in the Thai government.
  15. I suggest the next month or so is taken in looking for somewhere else to stay. I agree that you have rights, but at this stage, plenty of places to stay. Move out, move on and let the owner do what he likes. Or just buy the place if you like it so much. One has to ask if it is worth the hassel.
  16. In fear of stereotyping, my experience is that if something doesn't go the way that some people want, the default setting is anger and violence. (Not just in Thailand, either.) To clarify and expand: Some women were doing an activity proscribed by law, and one was losing badly and one was winning a lot. The one losing badly appealed for credit. When she was refused, she found a snake and threw it at the one who was winning. My SIL owes shed loads of money on the back of other activities proscribed by law. When the people she owes come to collect. Default anger and sweary words. Perhaps it's nurture that pushes teachers to lose patience, but, that being said, teaching of a person who may not be as quick on the uptake as the teacher expects and wants, requires skill sets that some teachers don't have.
  17. Good grief. No one drinks in Bangkok any more? What a crock of poo this survey is. If I were a betting man, which I am not, as it's illegal here. I would bet the wife will be back tonight intoxicated, after playing cards as she has been for the last 2 nights. Not that she gambles of course. playing for the honour. Can anyone tell me if any of those surveyed have bought any alcohol over the past year, or since the bars and restaurants have been precluded from selling it openly? I say openly, as where I live, it's normally decanted into jugs. That's beer and whiskey, to be supplied by the venue, or brought in by yourself with a corkage fee. I suggest the officer's mess in the Army barracks where a certain person is still resident, serves alcohol in their bar.
  18. Notoriously wandering off topic...vax versus anti vax. Masks are easily available in Thailand, as is full PPE and Hazmat suits if needed. I cannot vouch for mask efficacy, but if medical staff wear the blue surgical masks during surgery, I imagine they'd be ok to reduce the likelihood of spreading covid infection.
  19. I am currently on O-A extensions, but I plan to leave Thailand in January 2022 for a few years and come back visa exempt and change to Non O within the time, if it still exists. I plan to keep the income method going while I am out of the country. My embassy does not issue affidavits, so, for extensions on O-A, I use Tax Office records, transfers shown from my UK bank and correlate it to incoming payments in my Thai bank. I am hoping things will remain the same upon my return.
  20. This figure is a surprise to me. A few, thought I. Perhaps a few thousand... but none? Nil, zip, zilch. Testament to the discerning tourist.
  21. This is all very well, but around here, 200 plus houses have 20 pick ups/cars. most have motor bikes that would have been crushed years ago in other countries. Those who don't have them have to borrow from those who do have them. Bicycles, rarely seen. Except perhaps before 8am and after 5pm. how about articles on electric bikes...insurance, tax, range, charging, etc?
  22. Investigating some opportunities, I came across a Facebook business page that linked a website. the Facebook page was great, lots of info, videos...I Last posting was 2015.I The linked website did not exist. Website address was available to buy.... Trust, but verify and caveat emptor. Etc...
  23. Why call it Winter? I thought Thailand had 3 seasons, hot, wet and cold. Not bloody spring, summer, autumn and winter. Anyways, Astronomical winter, in the northern hemisphere starts on the winter solstice. In UK, there is also meteorological winter starting 1 December. Go figure.
