Also it appears that the United States subsidizes Canada to the tune of $200 billion a year, and doesn't need anything that Canada has to offer. The US is just being nice. If this is true, then perhaps Canada needs to stop all exports to the US and the US should stop subsidising Canada going forward. If Canada has nothing the US wants, making them the 51st State is pointless. This money can be used to reduce the national debt and reduce inflation. Job done...

President Trump puts tariffs on imports, making it more expensive for consumers, this reduces demand affecting the producers. Had it been me, I'd have removed the issue in its entirety. Stop exporting to the United States. This would help achieve the stated goal of the USA no longer being dependent on an insecure and unfair supply chain and encouraging companies to produce in the US. The UK is living in the past with its so called 'special relationship'. It's never been special. The only way the UK survived WW2 is because of the sacrifices of others and support of the United States.
